So can you. You're being ridiculous in advocating that you have the freedom to willfully harm others with your second hand smoke. You don't seem to understand that they are free too and that you're limiting their freedom in doing it. If an establishment (like a bar or restaurant) wants to be smokers only I think they can still do that, no? However, it's ridiculous to expect public space that everyone uses to allow it.

I don't like vaping.  I'm alergic to it.  I'm not the only one either.  It's not just water vapor, but I support your right to vape if you want to.  Also, I don't support your right to take away my right to choose tobacco over vaping if I so wish.

I don't feel that way about second hand smoke.  I think the medical profession can be "paid" for their opinions and test results, the same as any politician.

When I was a kid I didn't have a choice. My parent and most of the world back then were just selfish, unthinking idiots about it.  It was everywhere! Where's a kid supposed to escape it when it's all around them? No, I'm glad we've evolved past "smoker's rights."

I'm a nonsmoker but I hate the militancy of nonsmokers who have no toleration for a bit of cigarette smoke every now and then.  Half of the militant nonsmokers used to be smokers.  I guess they get jealous or envious when they smell a waft of cigarette smoke in the air.

BTW, cigarettes used to be a HUGE commercial enterprise and you're right about science being paid off to not tell the truth but in this case it was for them to ignore the truth about it's harmfulness so that they could keep that cash cow going. They made a movie about the guy who finally blew that whistle.

Nope, I experimented with cigarettes for a night back in the early 80's but that was it and by the time I moved to New Jersey, where the shops were, in '85 that incident was long ago in the past.  I married a smoker but she quit a number of years ago.  My taste buds are just fine.

If you were living with a smoker back then then it's no surprise that you wouldn't notice any difference. Smoke gets everywhere, on everything. You had it around you so much that you stopped noticing it so much. I know. I was married to a smoker too. It's funny, a few weeks ago I went to a medical marijuana dispensary and I had a coffee and the girl there said, Wow! That coffee smells so great! I just quit smoking a couple weeks ago and now my sense of smell is coming back. I said yeah, after awhile that's all you smell and then after awhile more you don't even smell that. Which is why I think smokers can be as ignorant and insensitive to non-smokers because they don't perceive it as offensive anymore because they can't smell it.

The way things are now is right and good. If you want to smoke cigarettes when you go out it's up to you to find a place that will allow it. Brig thinks people should be allowed to smoke everywhere and if I don't like it too bad, find someplace else but when it was that way it left very few options for nonsmokers. Soon most of you will dead from emphysema or lung cancer and it won't even be an issue anymore.

Think of it this way, at least when someone smokes, you can see their breath and know when you are away from it. You can't get that with non-smokers. You just have to unknowingly inhale their plague.

Yeah. I don't smoke but what if there is some prophylactic effect or at least "comfort of living" effect?  Imagine a scenario. You are some peasant in China now living on the streets of an industrial factory-town and hoping that you can get work making dildos or iPhones for rich, idle gweilos in the Western world at some factory that works you so much that they need suicide nets.

Maybe that cigarette smoke is actually protecting you from greater dangers? Exhaust fumes, smoke from dirty coal-burning plants, H1N1 etc from the birds and pigs in homemade hutches and cribs or in large industrial facilities, fumes or cinders from whatever protestor or Fulan Gong guy has been maced or burnt alive, the smells and whatever disease is coming from some open sewer or river, the asbestos used in buildings, and all the cement dust with all the progress and road and office building.

If anything maybe the chemicals in cigarettes (and whatever cysts and growths they might cause on your lungs) will render your lungs UNABLE to absorb all these other nasty chemicals in the air. Or kill your taste buds and smell so you don't smell your fellow workers, the pollution, or the gruel the factory-master might serve you.

This is just my personal experience but I wonder if other have had the same. When first tried smoking weed I actually liked the taste of it and continue to. When I first tried smoking a cigarette I thought it was horrible. I'm almost positive this is most people's first impression of cigarette smoking but they suffer through until it gets better to be able to hang with the cool kids.

I don't like second hand smoke either. I didn't even like it when I did smoke. I just want to delete the laws that the government has on what I do with myself. Those types of laws seem to only get more invasive. Maybe a happy medium could be if you are on public property you can only smoke 20 feet away from a non-smoker. Also non-smokers have to wear some sort of arm band.
