LOL, one of my best friends works at Adobe. He and some others had been buzzing about iPad for a week. The morning of the release, I heard on NPR that there was no flash player on iPod, so IM'd him with a friendly wtf? Get this: It pissed him off. He bent over backwards DEFENDING Apple...from his office at Adobe!

I told him I've always been a GPL-GNU fanatic, not just because it works well (mostly), and not just because it's free, but because I believe in the principle. I like it that Adobe gives away flash player (I use it everyday), and that google gives away all their stuff. That pissed him off even more.

I may have mentioned Android, but I do remember my parting shot: I predicted that google will build a (practically) universal WiMax network...and (practically) give it away! Gated communities and internet islands, and that whole business model will not last.

I especially enjoyed your comments about Apple near the beginning of this thread. I almost bought a macbook pro/pro tools/m-audio package a couple years ago, but I knew that I would still have to get a pc for almost everything else. In light of the recent "scandal" involving the iphone prototype...I'm glad I didn't. I mean, I know apple sort of shops around new products and stuff with insiders, but I don't for one second believe anybody could ever get a prototype like that off property without authorization. I betcha that sort of thing gets locked in a safe whenever it's not being worked on, with one or more witnesses who sign for each other, and nobody is allowed to bring any packages, or cameras, whatsoever, in or out of the lab, and everyone going in or out is thouroghly searched, and every unit has an rfid tag hidden in it. So an engineer takes one out to a bar, gets drunk, and loses it? And it ends up in the hands of a tech blogger? I don't believe it. I think it was a really, really, nasty, unforgivable stunt.

Oh, no. I just "upgraded" Sunday. Then I had to update flash, because Mozilla said not to do so would cause stability issues. Then I had to go back and finally download Thunderbird (my original goal). Thunderbird doesn't seem to work for my intended purpose, the flash file seems to be corrupted and my machine is doing weird things. Dammit, will I never learn to check comments everytime I make changes like that? I've uninstalled everything that has anything to do with Google, (I recommend "scroogle.org", it's sort of a proxy just for google). I'm in IE right now, but I depend on Firefox for my porno addiction.

Thanks man. I think I'm done with GLP. I just wasted hours fighting with some troll who (I think) was upset that I implied Noory was a right-wing tool. Then he posted a REALLY offensive (I think, to almost any reasonable person, and not directed at me, and I forgot to copy it) comment that was deleted almost instantly by either him or the mods. I promise not to bring that stuff over here. If I detect a storm brewing, I'm just gonna delete my post, and beg that you delete any quotes that escape. I may even delete or edit my first post, we'll see how it goes.

I've posted this on the GNS thread at GLP twice, conservatives always get offended...please...I don't mean to imply that all conservatives are stupid, or evil, honest.  I am no longer going to respond to conservative trolls, either, except in the most vicious way I can think of, short of getting kicked off the board. BTW, I'm listening to the rerun of Art's Climate Change show, right now, and some teabagger called in and gave Art a bad time about how the Climate Change show is Republican Bashing! I wish, they deserve it.


I used to depend on Art and C2C. Those days are long gone. Ever since those idiots took over (they’re evil, not just stupid), it’s all bible, angels, 2012, creationism, anti-science and all kinds of the worst stupid feces. I can’t stand it any more. Besides all that, that syndicate runs on the most extreme right-wing radio stations, which run all those even more evil radio shows. There’s a big movement to boycott their big advertisers (Walmart cut them off already). I haven’t given up yet, COASTTOCOAST BELONGS TO US! Complain to your local stations and anybody who advertises on them! To understand how strongly I feel about this, you’ll need some background info.

First of all, I was born in Detroit, too.

I also lived in Dearborn Heights, and very probably went to the same Grade School and church as our friend George.

I was there when the Tigers won the series. I was there when Hoffa disappeared.

I started listening to Art when Ed Dames and whatshisname the backwards speech guy were regulars.

I heard the famous father whatshisname shows live! (Reissued on “bonus” CDs a few years ago.)

In the 90s, and being a big Art Bell fan, I actually visited Pahrump several times. (I worked at Stovepipe Wells for a while). Everywhere I went I asked “Does Art Bell shop here?” “Does Art Bell buy his gas here?” Nobody in Pahrump had ever even heard of Art Bell. Nowadays, everybody in Pahrump has heard of Art Bell. (By the way, I used to park my motorhome right on top of where they dug up the famous Las Vegas Mob treasure). Eventually, I even figured out where Art lives, without any help. I wish I would have had the nerve to talk to him, but I didn’t think it would be cool, Art likes and deserves his privacy.

I remember the bogus Art Bell “Scandals”.

I miss Art Bell, he was my best friend through many long, dark nights.

It’s fine if it was time for Art to retire, but it SUCKS that Coast to Coast AM has been taken over by one of the nastiest Big Corporations there is, and they put a bunch of right-wing assholes (I do like George Knapp, he’s cool) on the air. But George Noory is an IDIOT. He’s so fucking gullible. He’s always pushing creationism, anti-science, anti-vaccination, all the worst stupid (even dangerous) shit. 99% of his guests are dangerous crackpots, 99% of the callers are assholes. The great guests Art used to have on the show have mostly, gradually, dropped out.

Anyway, I wish I had the dough to buy the “georgenoorysucks” domain. I could really do something with it, and I’m not talking about making money. It would just make me happy.

I hope you won’t sell “georgenoorysucks.com” to that evil fucking radio syndicate, or George, or Howard Stern, or something like that, because it would just disappear. I googled “George Noory Sucks” 4 or 5 years ago, and I laughed like hell. It still makes me happy.

I haven't been on GLP for 6 months...I used to hang out on the other threads while listening to the show...but now I only listen when Art is on, so I no longer feel a need to screw with George and his fans!

About Art's climate change show...I was floored. I don't think even Art has EVER done a C2C show about something REAL, important and educational (for some of you, at least).

Climate change deniers: There are NO actually qualified deniers of Climate Change... only shills who are experts in the way "Dr." Laura is a Doctor (She's not). You're even more stupid than evolution deniers.

About Art's Books...I've read three of them, they are awful. (I liked the movie). I actually disagree with most of Art's opinions, but still like him as a radio host. I gotta say, though, that his books are almost unreadable.
(I wouldn't wipe my ass with one of George's books.)

Some members of my family, whom I respect, and love, are also conservatives. I mentioned my opinion that I think those hate-radio guys are evil only in the context that Noory, in his own stupid way, is almost as bad. George is just a tool (somebody else is pulling the strings). Although I suspect that many of George's fans are also Beck, Limberger, Savage and Palin fans, I didn't mean to imply that I think conservatives, in general, are evil. Sorry. It is cool that we can cross the aisle, united by our contempt for you know who.

It's just...I really do think that promoting psuedo-science as if it were as legitimate as The Scientific Method is evil. I think it's one of the major factors driving this country into the ground. At least Art, imho, never really completely bought into most of it (I think that's why Carl Sagan slammed everybody BUT Art in "Demon-Haunted World: Science As A Candle In The Dark", at least he never mentioned Art by name). And...and...when so many people hold so many false beliefs, and are so willing to believe such stupid nonsense...they are less and less able to tell right from wrong, and fact from fiction, and they become easy prey for demagogues like the hate-radio bunch. It is a well-known fact, btw, that the more education people have, the more liberal they are likely to be. If you want a conspiracy theory, try this: conservatives have conspired to deliberately destroy public education in the U.S. for that very reason. An ignorant, gullible population is a conservative population. Easily pliable, easily manipulated, easily enslaved. THAT'S why I hate George Noory.
