Technology / Re: Windows 10
October 30, 2016, 02:15:22 PM
Been using Win10 since soon after launch (with all the tacked on garbage disabled), only real issue that pops up from time-to-time is the OS not recognizing my USB keyboard and mouse at boot, so it loads to the Tablet screen and is totally unresponsive. Just plug them into different USB inputs and reboot to fix. Only happened maybe four times ever.

-jim harold's campfire has had a number of old good episodes but lately it is all advertising and banter with no content.

His podcast is like chewing glass to me. Tried listening to one of the newer shows and he and his guest made a mountain out of some dumb "EVP" of jumbled millisecond radio clips like it was responses from beyond. Trash. I usually find myself listening to old Art or Darkness Radio.

So you want Art to negotiate with himself?

Probably covered before in the thread, but who was that "Hoagland Stalker" asshat with the NYC accent that kept calling in on the Gabcast with Art? I mean, what the hell, sounded like someone with nothing else in his life but some stupid beef he likely made up in his delusional mind. Like he attended a conference years ago with Hoagland speaking and he wasn't picked during question time and he's still cheesed off after all this time.

I listen sporadically, as you do.  I've not heard Dave mention it, but that might set things off and why should he say anything when things are going his way?  I listen mostly on the weekends when Dave is gone.

I try to keep up with Schrader's Darkness Radio and the last mention of Art was their show right after Art quit, just a passing mention about the stalker situation and well wishes with a thanks to Art for inspiring Dave and Tim to start DR a decade ago.

Find it funny the host of a show that constantly advocated outsider thought would get pissy over his fans applying the same to him. How dare us.

Anyone catch that little dig by Mark Levin last week?

"[Bernie Sanders] belongs with the 1AM crowd with Art Bell! This guy is a lunatic!"

Quote from: Chad Jacobs on December 24, 2015, 07:38:39 AMMichael Savage:  Although, he focuses upon vastly different subject matter his engaging style of telling stories from his life (such as when he was a botanist in the South Pacific) perhaps reminds me the most of Art. Although, he is far more contentious, he is also a skilled interviewer.

That'd be awesome, in between the political rhetoric we'd be regaled with stories of eating at garbage Chinese food joints while having epiphanies about life as an old curmudgeon who doesn't matter anymore.

*Edit: Actually take out the rhetoric part and we wouldn't be too far off from what we had before.

Cancelled minutes into Art showing up on the Heather's Friday Open Lines show. I knew I made the right decision when Art later posted that if enough subs stayed on for her, he might pop in from time-to-time. No. Just no. I'm done. There's no way I'm subbing back even if Art gives it another go.

I'm probably going to cancel my subscription. I have nothing against Heather I hope she does well, but honestly I signed up and paid for Art and now that he's gone... I'm just not ready to love again.

Yep, it's now simply another random show on the DMN I didn't listen to before, during, and now after MITD.

Art will be back. This is just temporary. They will catch the nut. Plus, if they're crazy enough to pull this garbage, do you think stopping the show will really stop the nut?

Even if so, by then all the terrestrial stations will be gone and I doubt many, if any, will give him the time of day again. "Little internet show" indeed.

I'm honestly unsure this is the real reason, or even something that's actually happening, but subscription cancelled either way.

This guest is great, burst out laughing several times. Art needs him back eventually just for the comic relief.

If you disable it during the setup, you don't have to worry about it...

There's also a Privacy tab in the PC Settings section. Even if one is still wearing tinfoil after that, there's a "DisableWinTracking" tool over at GitHub, here, that simplifies what can be done in PowerShell to shut down any tracking totally no matter if you select it to be On or Off in the Privacy settings.

Based on Art's comments about hesitating to upgrade to Windows 10 a few shows ago, I think he might be under the impression the new OS lacks a DVD player. Of course Win10 has a few sticky points regarding privacy, but it does have DVD software (despite no longer having Windows Media Player).

The DVD software honestly kinda sucks though. Very basic with minimal options and fairly poor picture quality. I'd try out VLC media player or Media Player Classic. Both free, easy to use, and much more feature-packed. VLC doesn't even recognize DVD regions or NTSC/PAL, so it'll play any DVD in the world. Both can play much more than just DVD. I don't know if Art is a videophile as he is an audiophile, but there's also a modified Media Player Classic, the Kawaii Codec Pack, which builds in several powerful image renderer add-ons (and a ton of picture options). Many with PCs running their home theaters swear by it.

Giving ISIS-controlled areas in Syria the gift of a few massive EMPs sounds like a good idea. Suddenly eradicate a large portion of their communications ability.

Heard this all before from Sarchie. Comes off more as a devout Catholic who filtered his experiences as a cop through that prism as a coping mechanism than a demonologist. And Deliver Us from Evil is a long and boring pile of horror flick cliches. Gave the DVD away it was such crap.

One thing I would have loved Art or a caller to ask is why was her story in the first book fictionalized? That doesn't make any sense at all. Also it's odd how she seems to have a photo for almost every big event, even her first soap message of "Talk to Me", on her website. Not to mention it goes without saying any sane person would likely bury such a crazy experience and not talk about it at all, especially if the demon/jinn/entity just "willingly" left.

I liked the show actually, Lundin knows his shit, errrmm...literally. Really though, his books are very informative and the man knows what he's talking about. Still remember reading about the rumors that eventually became fact about his departure from Dual Survival (and how his co-host was indeed a fraud). He showed Art great respect and Art seemed to enjoy conducting the interview.

Random thought. Maybe Art should consider doing Chris Jericho's podcast? Jericho is a HUUUGGGEEEEE fan and even busted out a a spot on Art impression out of nowhere about a year ago when he was doing an interview on his podcast. Jericho has one of the biggest sports podcasts out there and likes to have an eclectic mix of guests. It would be great to get Art in front of a million potential new listeners in a non-traditional setting for him and I think it would be a great mix. Bryan Alvarez could probably hook it up or Jericho is pretty responsive on Twitter.

Fantastic idea!

One of the callers mentioned the horror film Dead Air (2009), and while okay, Pontypool (2008) has a similar premise but is far more intelligent. Even delves into the very nature of human communication (infection through language) and freedom of speech on the radio.

Art, here is my advice:  hire an armed guard for a couple of weeks, and mention him OFTEN on the air and that he has a night scope on his uzi.  (Okay,... maybe not an uzi, but you see my point, I hope).

Being in Nevada, Art might as well call on the best.
