As I mentioned in his thread the bankruptcy and legal structuring and ability, and internet- for now- will likely keep him going in some fashion. He really should set up a church set-up and REALLY avoid taxes and the rate increases Austin Energy has increased. Those are really sweet deals. Though we are seeing a lot of banks, systems, CC companies (almost also based in Delaware due to their interesting laws and Court system) cutting people off due to their speech. So who knows?

Oh yeah there will always be a market for his shtick just like there will always be a market for people insecure about their weewees, turns out they are the same people lol if it's not him someone else will take it up.

I think he is a grotesque hog-faced ranter but funny and oddly likable in a way, he was really done in by his listeners here, some of whom it turns out are pretty stinky and nasty.  Companies cut him off because of who he brings with, the way security keeps bums out of the mall, because it depresses commerce.

Quote from: WOTR on October 14, 2022, 12:56:36 AMAnd what a job he has done of that so far. I'm curious aside from the sacrifice of his fighting age men, what else has Zelensky sacrificed?

Ukraine needs $38 billion to cover our budget deficit next yr; we need $17 billion to "rebuild the critical infrastructure"; we need $2 billion to rebuild our "electric energy infrastructure"; & we need "not less than $5 billion" for gas & coal purchases

You now get to pay the salaries of doctors and teachers and the pensions of Ukrainians as well as for their hospitals. Too bad you can't afford public healthcare down there.  8)

(and that is just the demands this month without touching on military aid and the billions already pledged and sent.)

https://twitter.com/tomselliott/status/1580547558417522688

LOL how dare he tell the people who pledged to back him what he needs, it's Christmas, he will be grateful for his socks and like it  >:(  what kind of way is that to run a war

We don't have formalized public healthcare in this country because one of our major political parties -- the one these goobers are supposed to vote for -- is dedicated to torpedoing all efforts to bring it about, because it is communism or something.

Quote from: WOTR on October 13, 2022, 01:29:30 AMWell, I appreciate that. But perhaps somebody should inform the other leftists of this tradition of tolerance. I have seen people lose jobs, family, friends and their lives (another one who was let go during covid and committed suicide last week.) The dehumanization, financial instability and hatred of "polite" society actually did take a toll on a number of people.

Anyhow, your last paragraph really shows the problem. A good "left" friend of mine has been commenting on the "west" surrounding both Russia and China for the last decade and has been saying that eventually one (or both) of them will say "enough." This was not something that people did not see coming. Look up the location of US military bases in 2005 and then recent locations.

I suppose you see no provocation. I don't say that Russia should have invaded. Only that Stevie Wonder could have seen the war coming. And the Ukraine with it's ports and it's strategic location with no geographical barriers for in invasion into Russia abandoning neutrality was likely going to be a tipping point.

*You do realize that on this you are to the right of, and more of a war monger than Henry Kissinger, right?

This is just the "Ukraine is a fake country" argument which was settled when they fought back so heroically that first week.  Shamed the West into supporting them.  They want to align with Europe.  Nobody in Europe likes the Russian stink that smells like cabbage and doctor sausage and graft except Recent Russian immigrants, the Czechs even had a tourism campaign that invited people to look at a map and see that their country was really rather Central and not Eastern Europe at all!

Kissinger said that months ago, before it became clear Russia was getting desperate, retreating, mobilizing, I do not blame the Ukrainians for wanting to test how firm Russia's grip is on those parts they just annexed.

Quote from: albrecht on October 12, 2022, 04:18:42 PMI think air-travel has always been the 'testing' point on things. Starts off: fun, leisure, skirts, etc. Then goes (you could argue the deregulation and union battles) a bit cheaper but more of a hassle. And then now: like you are a victim and resented but has to be moved. Hazed, scanned, or groped by slack-jawed TSA people in government make-jobs, demand for a REAL ID compliant document, nickle-and-dimed for everything, and (until recently depending on route forced masked and show vaccines,) and then most, even in the airport, don't accept cash to buy an over-priced (captive market) drink or food item. But, somehow, illegals, without an ID, get a free trip to Martha's Vineyard or anywhere else in the country.

Yes, makes sense, most time in confined space with perfect strangers, perfect ad hoc focus group though tends to prioritize business travelers and folks with disposable income for leisure, study social interaction and signaling, lots of bored people with phones to document any disturbance in social order.  Worth noting in context of current discussion that it was airline heads who pushed for dropping mask mandate as too troublesome to enforce and that liberal cities dropped their mask mandates even before.

Quote from: albrecht on October 12, 2022, 03:48:46 PMI'm not sure which version of Corona-Chan has been released or mutated but there is long history of vaccine record demands. And, as I mentioned, just a couple months ago had to show card and id to visit an assisted living home to see a cousin (much older due to vagaries of marriages.) Interestingly residents were not demanded any vaxes but the concierge joked that she needed to show her whole records, including flu, to work there. But 'that's what they say.' One of those large concerns. Nice place, I admit, but seemed weird. And the whole live-care-to-die type of complex. Buy in and never leave. And almost sci-fi when I commented 'but there is nothing around' and reply was 'we got everything here, even movies, pickle-ball, and happy-hour, oh and that is our memory-care there- we just built!'

Here there are a few bars that still require it in certain areas known for activism, probably will for eternity at this rate 🤷 I just don't go to them, I think it has been clear for at least a year that there is little if any practical benefit and it is just harrying nuisance to make it inconvenient for folks to slack off

Quote from: albrecht on October 12, 2022, 03:33:56 PMI call some BS, though I don't know your lifestyle. But I've had to show vaccinations. I even had a 'vaccine passport,' before it was a thing. Yes, it was paper but certain countries demand to know if you had stuff. Also, even before on the Corona-Chan, to visit patients, certain nursing homes, and flights I had to produce it. One, oddly, even in deep-in-the-heart-of-flyover-haters Iowa scanned it to visit someone. Many European countries made people get X-Rays due to possible TB- Russian had a peculiarly bad strain. Even African countries demand proof of Yellow Fever vax before entry (Look up the efficacy though.) In your state they demanded in for hospital visits and even now still have rules. I think some schools or nursing homes here demand certain things and to work, right-to-work state, demand even flu vaxes and proof of such. Military was also forced to vax for things. You're claim it that 'no vaccine checking' is total bs.

Well I was talking about the vax card for the Covid Nineteen, which has stayed in my wallet.   WOTR persuaded me it was intolerant a year ago and I promised him out of solidarity.

Quote from: WOTR on October 12, 2022, 10:00:27 AMI get it. I suppose that I'm still just a little sensitive that if it were somebody like you reading it instead of the lady who did read it in HR that I would have not job and have been nearly unemployable for months while my government denied any unemployment benefits. That would have been all it would have taken- one person with preconceived ideas and a holier than thou attitude.

Anyhow, the rest of the post I don't get- bearfest?

Finally, if you are on the left and actually see the government as your friends, I have nothing. I'm not pro Putin so much as I'm anti-war. I was the voice against the war from Iraq onward.

LOL I would not have canned you you goof, tolerance is a classical liberal virtue going back to the Enlightenment and the measure of tolerance is how much disagreement you can stomach before you punish someone, when it is in your power to do so.  I think your vax position is utter horseshit but I still haven't shown my vax card to anyone.

Bears are what we call fat gays, we hate them so much we make them have their own separate parties, and it was at bearfest in Provincetown last year around the 4th of July when it was first widely reported that a near-100% vaccinated crowd could spread covid.  The unvaccinated owe the brave Provincetown Bears a debt of gratitude for pushing social distancing to the limit and stress-testing the vaccine.

You are basically passing PUtin positions undigested here.  Are you checking your opinions with counterpoints at all?  Nuclear missiles on his border with Ukraine?

Ukraine's NATO membership was never remotely realistic before this war and, even if they joined, that means nothing.  The Baltics on his border have been NATO members since 2004, no nukes stationed there or any real pressure to do so.  Now Pootie is threatening nukes in Kaliningrad in retaliation for Finland and Sweden joining  He is picking this fight with NATO and losing because most of the world can see he is an old-school imperialist asshole and running for cover.  Your anti-war stance is kind of jarring here.

Quote from: WOTR on October 11, 2022, 09:41:26 AMThere was maybe two months were that was true. If you were not blinded by fear, there was already data leaking that said otherwise by the time that I was supposed to line up like a good slave and take the medicine my master told me to.

I think my decision aged a lot better than the totalitarian's who wished me dead, wanted to deny me health care, and actually did remove my legal freedom to leave my house for a couple of months for anything other than work and getting groceries (which, of course, I followed.) Hell, Chomsky wanted to go a step further and not allow me to work or buy groceries.

As for my exemption- I have let a number of people read it and emailed parts of it to somebody else on this board. I suppose that I trust them not to weaponize it against me during a debate about the Ukraine.

*No African kids were mentioned it it. But the evolution of my views on gay men were- no, I'm not joking.

You are the one who kept bringing up the COVID-NINETEEN in here, it was right there, I'm gonna use it ;D

Less than that, if I remember right it was the 4th of July gay bear-fest in Provincetown, scarcely a month and a half after I got my first shot  :( but you opted out of the collective effort much as you are now opting out of backing Ukraine and now find yourself repeating Putin's justification for Anschluss.

https://twitter.com/ThomasVLinge/status/1579837189168730117

Because, in common with the European far-right, you see that the government is against you, the struggle is global, and Putin is an ally, or at least a necessary counterbalance that should be propped up at all cost, including swallowing a largeish European state.  Holy hell.   I am not real keen on the forced bug-eating but man that is a leap.

Thank you!  I wondered where the all bug-eating talk came from.

QuoteThe 2022 Davos meeting discussed taking away people's cars and forcing them to eat insects

Why don't Helsingin Sanomat (Finland's "The Guardian") and Yleisradio (Finland's "BBC") report on Klaus Schwab's irrational beliefs, but otherwise report comprehensively how climate change is being discussed at the World Economic Forum? In my opinion, this irrefutably proves that the mainstream media is tuned against us ordinary people. Last spring WEF meeting discussed how to take people's cars away and how to force them to eat insects. Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto (Green Party) and Minister of Transport and Communications Timo Harakka (Social democrat) represented State of Finland in Davos.

Are we still hoping that if just another percent or two of the population gets a shot that we will finally eradicate this plague?

It doesn't matter, it was another collective effort based on what we knew at the time from which you exempted yourself by a shaky grab at moral virtue.  I would love to read your exemption request.  Do the starving kids in Africa figure in that one, too?

It's Putins fault for starting the war. That makes it pretty nice and removes all responsibility for the consequences of our actions from us.

It's funny. I recall hitting a kid in grade one and saying "but he started it." Didn't work out too well for me. But it's believed by millions if a senile senior citizen says it.
'

Yes, I believe it.  I remember at least a month of tanks rolling on trains, leaders wringing their hands, Russia saying no it's an exercise.  I understand it was an escalation of an existing conflict like a lot of wars but the degree of escalation was entirely disproportionate and one-sided, like if you had been slap-fighting the kid all along and then pulled out a gun and shot him.

I understand you don't like or trust your country's leadership or ours for that matter but when even historically neutral states like the Swedes and the Swiss pick a side, it's pretty stark.

For the sake of humanity.

👆ok I will teach the chuds a thing. It is not my plan; it is you dumb idiots.  Harry Styles has a gf.  He wears dresses sometimes and takes his shirt off. That is fine.  He can be straightish and wear a dress now.  He will probably have children one day.

Sixty years ago before anybody heard of fags when my favorite uncle liked classical music and good wine and embroidery he got himself a lovely wife had two kids four grandkids.

Thirty years ago Harry Styles would have been cast out of straight society and called a faggot for wearing a dress and taking his shirt off too much, because you guys couldn't handle the fact that some guys are kind of girly and like attention, and he would have been driven to the gays who would welcome him with open arms because he is cute and talented.  He would probably not have children.

The higher the conformity bar is for straight male behavior, the more you drive away.  That is why traditional rigid societies like Mormons crank out homos like nobody's business.  Also Latins with their machismo, and black men who become drag queens at very high rates compared to how many black gays there are.

If you want fewer homos you must embrace the arty femmy guys and not say soy or fag or we will take them all.

Don't worry; I have no illusion you will heed me at all so globohomo's future is secure 🥳
