I listened to about 30 minutes of tonight's MITD with Heather Wade. I have been an enthusiastic supporter and fan of Art Bell since the mid-90's. I followed all of his resurgences and subsequent, always strange, disappearances. After the whole Sirius fiasco I patiently waited two years for his non-compete to end, and when MITD was launched I was an early adopter. I subscribed early and have been paying the low low introductory offer of $5 ever since. When Art had his stalker problem and decided once again to pull his disappearing act I couldn't really believe it. I kept hoping against hope that he would come back. I kept downloading the podcasts every day after Art handed over the show to Heather Wade because I know the download numbers matter and MITD was still so new when Art abandoned the show that I wanted to continue to support the effort in the hope that he would come back.

I, however, didn't listen to any of Heather's shows. I was feeling somewhat betrayed and sad that Art had again pulled a Houdini that I didn't want my negative feelings to color my impressions of her show. In other words, I really wanted to give her a chance to find her footing. I wanted to reserve judgement. I listened to my first Heather Wade show and, sadly, I am canceling my subscription to MITD. I don't dislike her or anything, but she is just simply not what I signed up for. Tonight in just the first 30 minutes she praised Donald Trump twice and belittled Bernie Sanders once. But, really, that's just the surface annoyance. I haven't gone back to check but I can only assume that Heather, like the loathsome George Noory, is a climate change denialist as well as a Trump supporter. This is definitely not what I hoped MITD would be.

I'm still trying to process the fact that Art has done this again. When he "retired" from Coast to Coast lo these many years ago and then came back and then left again I was thinking that it's his prerogative to retire. Then the news about the machinations behind the scenes with Clear Channel pressuring him, etc started to surface and he sad news of the 10 year not compete clause. Finally he came back on Sirius and it seemed good, but somehow pressure reached there and he left again. This time with a 2 year not compete. But now this. Some random freak in the desert? Kind of makes the other times he bailed seem more like a pattern rather than some kind of concerted effort to get and keep Art off the air. Not pleased...

Anyway, I too used the http://userid:password@rss.darkmatterdigitalnetwork.com/mitd/ to add an RSS in Podcast Addict with no problems yet.

For those of us technologically proficient enough to manage an Android device, I will tell you how to make the new RSS feed option function on any of your preferred podcast apps. Keith Rowland went on the air to explain how to effectively use your phone or tablet to "subscribe" to MITD so that your podcast app will simply download the shows and serve them to you as you like. Of course, this is only for Time Travelers, so if you really like the idea of having MITD on your phone or tablet without having to go through the website, they pony up the small $$ and become a TT.

I was surprised that Keith didn't know this just like I'm surprised at the overall look and feel of the MITD website, but I suppose he's been really busy. Anyway, if you are a TT and have your user and password you can subscribe to the RSS feed on your favorite podcast app fairly easily. I use Podcast Addict.

1. Login to the MITD time traveler site. Go to the Archive. Look for the RSS link(currently at the top of the page) and copy it.

2. Go to your device and open your podcast app.

3. Go wherever you need to go to add an new podcast. On Podcast Addict there is an option to add an "RSS feed, YouTube channel, Soundcloud url". Paste the RSS link into field.

Ex: http://rss.darkmatterdigitalnetwork.com/mitd/

4. Modify the rss url as follows.

Ex: http://userid:password@rss.darkmatterdigitalnetwork.com/mitd/

(Obviously the userid and password above are to be replaced with your information. Again you must be a Time Traveler.)

5. Hit "ADD" or "OK" or whatever your podcast app uses for acknowledgement that you are finished inputting the RSS feed info.

6. Enjoy the show whenever, where ever you want/

It would be great if Art would interview author and marine biologist Callum Roberts. He wrote a great book called The Unnatural History of the Sea. Roberts exposes the issue of shifting ecological baselines where each generation thinks the way the ocean was when they were children is "normal" and therefore we miss the broader changes happening.
