RIP Art. You left too soon again.

Bateman sounded like a teenage boy yelling at his sister.  She's not my choice of host, in fact Steve was, but I don't see how anyone can listen to what he said, and how he said it, and not think less of him.

Telling the world about a woman's meltdown is, at a minimum, unchivalrous. I did not care for bateman's behavior on the Gabcast at all.   Have no idea about things that happen off-air, but I heard enough on-air to know that he's a dick.

Hurry up and post you tramp!  :D
Seriously. I'm at the office now and have plenty of work to avoid.

Airyn flipped out over the show taking so much of Art's time, and possibly also due to a stalker, and Art's now navigating the estrogen-fueled minefield known as "getting the missus on board."  This is taking a while longer than we'd all like.

Art's stated reason for leaving BellGab was because of "the awful things said about Heather and myself," which is a bit like leaving Nye County because it has brothels.

I've come to the conclusion that Airyn has been nagging Art about how much of a time commitment the show has been, and the stalker was the final straw. In this context, it makes sense that Art hasn't committed to resuming the show full-time once the stalker is caught.

Is this show available as a Podcast?

I stumbled across Dark City a couple of times and found myself really enjoying it.  Is it available as a Podcast?

This gap between the demand for entertaining paranormal radio and the talent needed to meet it has me questioning the capability of free markets.  As a lifelong libertarian I am troubled, and am having thoughts of supporting Bernie Sanders in hopes of him creating a Federal Paranormal Radio Czar who will force Art to continue the show.  For the good of the people.

I have a sneaky inkling that Heather's going to come out as Art's daughter at some future date.

I appreciated Art correcting callers' audio foibles, though I'd really appreciate it if he were as strict in correcting their grammar.

First HW show I was able to finish, though I did listen at 2x speed. She improved markedly IMHO. Good guest, too. I want to hear examples of a song shifted to a non-western tuning to feel more moved. Call me skeptical. I'd also like to know what criteria he's using to say western is wrong and non-western is correct.

This person may never be caught unless I catch him and hold him at gunpoint till the cops get here, or I think far less likely one of the random Police patrols gets him. I have chewed this over from a million angles and it still comes down to most likely a crazy person because you have got to be crazy to fire shots at the end of a dead end road.

I will say I reacted emotionally when my Wife said she had had enough but that's life I guess and of course I miss it. I could have said I would just take a break till we get this resolved but I said what I said and you can't take words back.

I have said that if time passes without incident I might do a show every now and then to give Heather a night off but will do so unannounced.

I am going to remain a Bell Gabber.

Art

Please come back full time.

What's the history with Art and Heather?  How did they meet?  Why are Art and Keith handing the show over to her rather than have auditions?

Plus, and for the love of God somebody please tell me… Wasn't this dumbass on the show like three or four weeks ago?

According to the Guests By Date page he was on 11/05.

Listening for the second day to the archive.  Not enjoying it.

Paxson: "I'm not trying to make it complicated, I'm trying to make it simple."
HW: "Mmm and then some believe it is a God-ess, so there is that."

This is a Noory-esque level of bad engagement.  She swings and misses way too much to make the listen worth bumping my Audible subscription, or not resuming my other favorite podcasts.  The seductive affectation with upswung-lilt to her voice is just annoying as hell.

I want to like her, and I want to say nice things on the forum and feel a nice bond with my fellow Bellgabbers, but I honestly can't.  Heather does have moments of promise, and I hope she is able to grow these into something fantastic, but I'm not optimistic.

If this was really about the stalker then Art would be saying he'll be back full-time once the guy is caught. I very much enjoy Art as a talk show host but that doesn't blind me to seeing that his actions don't match his words. Again. He likes to do the show until he doesn't.

I did not say I was Retiring did I? I said I was going off the air because of this increasing problem with a Stalker. If some time can pass without incident I would be happy to do a random show. The big problem with this has been I had a fixed routine making it way to easy for this fool.

Art

Art Hangs it up for the Last Time sounds pretty definitive.

Holy hell now Hoagie says it might be his last show.

They're not all junk. Just trust recommendations from people whose posts you like. The podcast world is a new frontier, full of great stuff. I can highly recommend Lorenzo's Psychedelic Salon.

I agree.  I think something that can last beyond Art has been created with DMDN.  There is an audience for this material and the time is right.

I think Heather is okay but her personality is a bit too laid back, we need another host she can work off of. Personally I think MV would be prefect but he's too busy with college and his 100s of children.
MV is the obvious choice IMHO.  Bateman is right up there, too.

Heather has a lot of great qualities and she needs to make the show about those, particularly she has a warm presence on the air and with callers.  What I'm not hearing is insightful, quick or witty repartee.

And already this guy's story is busted... Archeonet... fumble fumble... yeah digitial... umm ahh ummm...
Unlistenable. The big story is Art quitting and everyone's reaction to it. Keep it real and go to open lines.

Image if you will, a Ouija board encounter during which an aspiring youth is convinced to offer his soul in exchange for radio fame.
Fame is found, but unbearable guilt and anxiety cause the now-soulless celebrity to concoct a scheme to sabotage his career in hopes of breaking the pact.
After a time, ambition grows and the successful career is resumed.
Repeat.

And the winning quote is, "When they grabbed the hot pockets I was out of there."

Enjoyed the show but I am partial to Jacobs ever since I read Secret Life in the 90s.  I was hoping Art would have the un-pregnant woman on or at least the nurse.  If Jacobs could bring on some of his abductees for Art to interview that would be awesome.
