Lol does anyone actually still listen to this show? I remember when this thread was hopping a couple of years ago. No way they have any subscribers left by now....

Is it just me, or they don't have the variety of callers like they used to back in the day? I realize that the late night long-form talk demographic is aging considerably. But I'm sure there must be enough people listening to warrant doing a show 7 nights a week.  It's always the same couple of people.

I know I'm an outlier, mid 30's older millennial who has been listening to night radio since the mid 90s.

I was pretty young when Bell was in his prime, I'm talking elementary school here. I didn't really get to start listening to him regularly until he was on his way out and Noory took over.  I would pay good money to get the shows. But I suppose that impressive torrent (which I downloaded ages ago but yet to listen)  is the best out there for now.

Long form talk radio is on it's way out I'm afraid. Practically all the hosts are 70+ years old and there does not seem to be any young blood to replace them. I can't imagine who would replace even Noory.

Are they even grooming anyone to eventually replace Noory? I remember when Art Bell years ago had Noory on as a fill in. I can't imagine any of the weekend hosts leaving their day job to run Coast full time. And I don't think the younger generation are interested in terrestrial long form radio anymore. Guys like Art who grew up when radio was still a hot medium are getting old and dying off.

I remember some of you speculating he would be back around June/July.  Although the only way I can listen to this program (due to my schedule) was to listen to the podcasts. And I'm definitely not signing up for 19.5 again after that fiasco.

Back when both shows were running simultaneously, I used to look forward more to Rich's show because MiTD was feeling a little stale with Art less interested in the conversations than even Jorch. I don't think people realize how much work goes into producing a quality radio show. It's basically a full time job without the financial compensation unless you're one of the big boys. Rich is getting up there in age and most likely decided he wants to engage in other pursuits. Still no reason to leave your subscribers hanging though.

Personally I don't think he is coming back. He probably wasn't making anything off the show and figured it was not worth the time and effort.

I downloaded the rest of the shows and cancelled. Maybe he will be back by the time I finish listening through all of them, but i wouldn't hold my breath.

So have you all cancelled your subscriptions yet? I still have mine because I'm listening thru a backlog of shows but after that I will axe it if they don't come back.

Radio and it's audience is not like it was when Art was in his prime. We live in a world with 20 second youtube clips and instant gratification everywhere. As I noticed with Dark Matter most of the callers and listeners were a small group of fans who listened previously. The audience would definitely need to be expanded but then you have to deal with big corporate if you want to go big time.

Awesome torrent! Finished downloading it in about half a day and will seed as long as I can. I was pretty young when Art was doing C2C and couldn't really stay up to listen so I have only a vague memory of the shows. I used to occasionally record the show on a VCR tape for later listening. I love how Art could keep an interview going with a guest for the near duration of the show. I still listen to C2C AM, but unfortunately it has succumbed to today's audience who is used to 20 second youtube clips and have a very ADD-like attention span as it is. There was something magical about listening to Art and his spooky subjects late at night with the AM band fading in and out.

George Noory simply does whatever his bosses tell him to do. It's corporate radio after all.

When Ian is hosting it feels more like any run-of-the-mill talk radio show than C2C. Less of the paranormal and crazy topics, and more of the conventional topics one can hear on any other show.

I only listen to the show since I work an overnight job and it helps pass the time. I know the hosts and guests are full of crap but realize it's just entertainment like any other.
