History: NAZI atomic bomb program, operation paper clip, Soviet purges, soviet/ NATO spying during Cold War, any of the spying or counter intelligence that was used against the Axis nations, crusades and how that affects today's perceptions, US support of mujahideen in the 80s, Vietnam and agent orange or Phoenix program or Air America, rise and fall of KKK and Jim Crow,

Conspiracies: anything Kennedy, NBC/scientific testing on US citizens, Hitler surviving the war, alternative energies being restricted from coming to market,

Crime: Jack the Ripper, the author of Devil in the White City  ::)

Cults, , hacking, deep web, Russia projecting power like it did during the Cold War and will that start WWIII ?

These are just a few things that come to mind that would likely fit the tone of the show

For the record I went so far as to purchase one of his competitor's books, haven't read a page yet, but it just feels good having it on my shelf.

Which brings me to SETI. (Seth Shostak always seems to rub me the wrong way.) There's this impression that SETI is going to find some radio wave from aliens far away. But radio wave propagation doesn't work that way. It's depressing, but if you remember that Intensity basically equals Power over Area, you figure out really quick that our flimsy radio signals don't make it that deep into space. So why would anyone else's? I guess we can hope some other type of signal is found. Who knows what types of wireless communication an alien species might use anyway...

Yeah the more I hear about SETI the more it sounds like a sham.

My girl friend was giving me strange looks when I was listening to the interview... When she started shaking her head I turned it off and finished listening when she was gone... Enjoyed the interview as always

I am listening to an old open lines show (not sure of the date but Hal Bop is incoming) and Art brought up how someone claimed he was a member of the trilateral commission... Later he asks a caller "if I was a member of the trilateral commission would you still love me?"

That tickeled me in a way I've never been tickeled before

A better question might be... What should some of the guests be forced to drink before coming on the air?

Personally I want to see RCH wrecked on Tequila and interviewed.

Get an attorney. One that you trust. If you can't afford your own, the public defender or assigned counsel are usually very competent, and not like they are often portrayed in tv and movies. Don't try to fix this yourself, use your attorney. It's common to want to handle things in what you think is the quickest and most direct way, but you likely are not aware of all the ramifications of your actions. Things you say on the record in court can be used against you, how the case gets resolved can have far reaching implications, especially with a child involved. You will be asked if you want a lawyer, the answer to that is always "Yes." Don't break the restraining order, don't let yourself be baited into breaking it, even with the best intentions, that will result in an additional charge.

It sucks, but you have to work through the process. Use your lawyer, make sure he knows about your witness. A sworn statement by a witness is something that your lawyer can bring to the prosecutor.

Good luck

She might be getting paid to do her monthly show, I'm sure Dave is no peach to deal with, especially when he plays nothing but love songs while she's on. Maybe she's afraid of losing the C2C money but hates dealing with Dave?

That's my rampant speculation.

He had an ok show... And it's steadily gone downhill to the point where I don't even bother to check the guest list to even contemplate listening anymore... I just can't deal with jimmy anymore... For godsake change the bumper music!!!! And you can't create the proper atmosphere required for the listener to get sucked into paranormal or creepy topics when you're acting like a radio jock belting out "0h yeah" like you're the cool aide guy... Join the rest of the world and put the show (immediately after the show is over so I could potentionally  listen to what I missed the night before during the drive to work) on iTunes so I can down load it.... Sell some JP muckelstones and make some money along the way... I pay for several podcasts... I will never pay for jimmy church at his current level

Yeah I just heard that old program on shoutcast last week or so, looked up the guest(name escapes me at the moment) but the photography expert that was interviewed by art was convicted of murder. Killed a model during a BDSM photo shoot... Kept taking pictures even after the person was dead...

Damn it why can't I think of his name...

There was a distinct lack of "ohhhh yeeeeah's" comming out of the breaks

Also you might want to consider doing a 15 minute celebrity birthday section towards the beginning of the show

All kidding aside, great show yet again

tl;dr version of this post: I stopped listening to FTB, but not because of the twitter thing.

Now, if you have an attention span longer than that of the average internet user, I present my critical analysis of why I no longer enjoy the program.

I started listening to the show at the very beginning, and at that point I thought it was pretty good (think I was one of the first posts in this thread). It wasn't Art in his heyday, but certainly better than Noory and Clyde Lewis. I figured he'd work out the rough patches as he went, and eventually polish himself into a decent talk show host.

So the more I listened, the more I noticed some things. First, that the "conversation on my couch" statement really meant  "It's my house, so I'm going to eventually let you talk, but not until I have the chance to talk about every personal thing that's ever happened to me related or unrelated to this particular subject." Second, he sounds more and more like a top 40 pop station DJ trying to conduct an interview. I kept waiting for him to interject "Twelfth caller wins two tickets to the monster truck extravaganza this Sunday" in the middle of his guest talking. Third, the "sitting in for Art Bell" thing got real old, real quick. Even though Jimmy sounds like he has an ego the size of southern California, he still needs to placate the audience with a "don't worry, Art will come back soon". And finally, the website is the absolute worst thing in the world to try and navigate through. I figured Keith would have stepped in at some point and at least given Jimmy the current artbell.com template to work with, but instead it's like an old geocities website. Whenever I went there to look for guest information, I expected to be greeted by midi music. And don't get me started on the clunkiness of the forum.

Overall, his style is not suited to a long form interview. He's better off just having a topic for a show and taking callers offering their opinion and riffing on that. Unfortunately he's basically doing a live podcast instead of drive time AM radio, so that option is out the window.

If you enjoy his show, that's cool. I'm not going to be the internet asshole and tell you that you're wrong. Nor will I criticize his program on the basis that he may or may not have artificially inflated his popularity. I guarantee you that every person that posts here would engage in some form of shameless self promotion if they undertook a similar endeavor. I listened to the show and gave it more than a fair chance, and have just not found it enjoyable enough to continue supporting.

Now you've just ruined it... This will be in the back of my mind every time I listen...

Is this show podcast in anyway? (I don't think it is but I remember some discussion a while back that it was being looked into) I'd like to download some episodes for a road trip this weekend
