Just another military wannabe in a long line of wannabe's.  Talks the talk but couldn't walk the walk if he tried.  Every branch of service has their share.  The real men who have served usually keep fairly quiet about their service.

Yes it is Rafferty.  Baker Street was recorded in 1978 and featured the incredible sax solo by Raphael Ravenscroft.  Sold more than 10 million albums over three decades.  Rafferty died of liver disease in 2011.  He was 63.

Sad to hear you are feeling like this, PBS.  In the meantime this thread has shown that you have many people here who care about you.  As usual Onan's words are wise and it's good to know you are going to read the book he recommended, "Love and Limerance" which sounds quite interesting and informative.

From a former alcoholic, 37 years sober, this woman is bad news.  You deserve so much more.  Demand it for yourself and refuse to accept less. 

Many of the videos created by very talented people here could give any ad agency a  run for their money.

IMO, animal abuse is horrendous regardless of who is inflicting the abuse.  The Canadians host an annual spring slaughter of seals, babies included, where the seals are beaten to death by men with clubs such as the club paladin1991 mentioned.  Other seals are maimed and simply left to die.  Several years ago I wrote all 96 Canadian senators regarding this very issue.  So it's a very serious issue to some of us. 

But to be more specific in answering your question...yes.  From your earlier posting, if I remember correctly, you are not the sort of person who would ever do such a thing.

Your comments appear to be presented as fact when they are nothing more than your own subjective opinions.  Which I have come to expect from a person whose background is rooted in the Catholic church itself.  Blind faith is just that...blind.

If I remember correctly the truth is that after serving in the Vatican as private secretary to Cardinal Bea and privy to disturbing and highly classified info he felt he could no longer serve and made the decision to leave.  (Wikipedia claims Father Martin remained an ordained but secular priest.  And in 1966 he moved to NYC where Cardinal Terrence Cooke gave him written permission to exercise his secular priestly faculties.)   His education included 3 Doctorates.  He also spoke numerous languages but not sure of the exact number. 
   
I have always had the impression that Father Martin, a Jesuit, was heartbroken, if not devastated, over the sensitive information he discovered regarding the church.  In interviews he claimed that one of his books, Windswept House, was true except for names and ending.  It appears the church did level a discrediting and disinformation campaign against him over the years including at least one book. 

Over time, whenever Martin's name comes up in the press all the nasty things said and written about him raise their ugly head once again.  So it is that many people who think little of Father Martin do so merely from lies they've been told or have read which were concocted for that very purpose.  Many hold such high regard for rank or station in life, that it is all but impossible for them to believe the truth if revealed.

At this level of deceit the few who actually knew the truth remain silent for their own good.  Father Martin has attempted to reveal the unknown truth (unknown to the masses) through his numerous books.

Father Martin lived in NYC until his death.  How he died remains a mystery with some and certainly not as ironclad as others would have us believe.

Listened to the first podcast earlier and thought the man who called in and was on until the end was quite interesting as well as polite.  But you were very rude to him, Falkie, even swearing at him at one point.  You wouldn't let him talk and even told him you knew more about the topic than he.  One can only wonder since he wasn't allowed to say much as you took over his call and talked at length. But one thing, you won't have many callers if you keep telling them you know much more than they.  That was one of the reasons Art excelled he never belittled any guest or caller nor did he try to give the impression that he knew more than they did about any subject.  He was too professional.  He always gave his guests and callers time to say what they had to say and let the listeners draw their own conclusions.  While he listened.  It was one of the reasons most of us loved and appreciated Art's interviewing skills.

I can see you have pretty much made up your mind but you might take the remainder of the weekend to really give some thought to this and perhaps change your mind about the credit card.  It isn't worth it to go into debt over this, Falkie.  Really, think about it as you just might be getting yourself into unnecessary hot water down the road.  Just refuse it on Monday and wait until you have the extra money to get what you want later.  Of course, this is just my opinion.

Yet, you don't seem to care what many, if not most, feel about you using these forums for your own personal use as you continue to ignore the numerous subtle and some not so subtle comments.  Nor do you seem to realize how you are taking advantage of MV's good graces in making this forum available to ALL OF US and not for your daily diary.

If true, it's no surprise Sirius saw a drop in subscription surge after Art's listeners' trial run expired.   Not because of the drop-outs/technical issues Art talked about, but because quite frankly the show wasn't very good.  His guests were either retreads selling the same old tired stories, or they were hacks/goofballs/droners not ready for prime time.  I'd already made the decision to not sign up for a paid subscription for that reason.

This.  I've listened to Art since '93 and signed up for the 30 day free trial with credit card expecting to listen to Art for the next three years.  However, after the first two nights I was through as I had no interest in any of the guests scheduled.  Especially after hearing Art announce future guests, i.e., Ed Dames comes to mind as does Paglini (sorry if that's misspelled).  At that point I called and cancelled my subscription.  Wonder how many other potential listeners did the same?

George Noory is the kind of guy who, in combat, would give the enemy all the information he had.  Regardless of how many of his own men would die because of it. 

A few minutes on the phone does not erase the ten years which have proven his complete lack of integrity.  Not to mention incompetence.

He died and was buried last weekend and on Tuesday I called my Mother to see how she was and she tole me that * I * was the reason he had a stroke and I guess by inference the reason that he died.
I have the archtypical Jewish Mother.
In spades.
And maybe the rest of the deck as well.
I never know how she's going to act when I call her or see her.
That's also why my girlfriend dreads going over there to see her too.
She's always been judgmental about anything I do going back to childhood.
I keep thinking that she'll be a nice person because at times she's pleasant and nice, but G*d I hate the damned woman.
I have tried to not contact her at times and have had periods where I didn't talk, call or write her for a year, but she will find ways to contact me come hell or high water.
When I was 18, I moved out of her apartment and got a mailbox at a mail service and told no one where I had moved to.
She knows a lot of influential people in San Francisco.
So there I am one night in my new apartment with the lady I was renting a room from when suddenly there's a knock on the door.
I look out and there's two guys in black suits, black ties and black hats.
This was long before I ever heard about MIB's.
So I open the door and they show me their identification and say :

" We're from the FBI. Call your Mother. "

I was flabbergasted !

Turns out she knew the Special Agent in Charge of the San Francisco office of the FBI and he sent 2 agents out to track me down.

You can't hide from the FBI I guess.

If I had her contacts, I'd probably be Governor or something.

It seems the only likely excuse for such a nickel and dime radio host is that he may be the lowest paid talk show host in the country which I posted about some time ago.  I also doubt that he worked all holidays by choice as he loves to brag.  What else did he have to give up in order to sign on the dotted line?  Retirement?  Looks like it may be a possibility too.  And each contract renewal may mean less money depending on how low his numbers have fallen.  Those stale turkey sandwiches may be a way of saving money in order to fly back to St. Louis.  Whatever it is I would love to see his contract.

Art's cats could have been Art's replacement and had more success these past ten years.  Talbott should look into signing them when George finally keels over.   

In the announcement on the Coast website George claims he's looking forward to bringing riveting programs...
