I'd still take any of Art's show over that other guy - there's just no comparison whatsoever.

?? A classic, but nonsense.Quote from: jazmunda on February 05, 2013, 12:48:29 PM
If Art truly wanted to get back on the air then his use of social media has dashed any hopes of any company ever hiring him.
He should not have publicly stated that he was in negotiations before a deal was done. Any future potential employer will be wary about this.
He should not have publicly stated that his reasons for not taking the deal was revenge. This is a rookie mistake. He should have just said that the deal wasn't right and we probably wouldn't have begrudged him that. What future employer is going to want to deal with him now that he has publicly shown such a flaw in his motivations and decision making process? Who would want to deal with such a "flaky" personality?
Maybe I gave Art more credit but his use of social media since his return to the "public" eye shows a complete lack of experience and knowledge of the art of negotiation. He should have been playing his cards close to his chest if he was holding a full house. You only bluff when you're holding a pair of deuces.
Something about his whole handling of these "negotiations" smells fishy and just throws up more questions than answers. But this is Art we are taking about so I don't know why I was expecting anything else.

I'm disappointed with Art's recent post... This is just my opinion but I don't think it's 100% truthful. Sure, it's a noble enough sentiment that plays well with the fans but c'mon is it too cynical to say it's doubtful that a 68 year old Radio Legend who has had nothing but time on his hands recently "struggled" with the right and wrong reasons to do a radio show? Maybe, but it's my thinking Art chose to tell fans that instead of the bluntly honest and sympathic truth that "Hey, they offered me a crappy deal and I said NO" I think Art told us that lest we think he is a"money grubber" like so many others and ding his reputation...just my thought. Clearly, Art appreciates his fans and cares what they think. I actually hope he was being dishonest because if he was telling the truth and he waffled at the last minute then this is just another example of the "Flaky, Troubled Art Bell" What company in their right minds would want to do business with this guy? What company would invest significant amounts of money into a guy who may not show up for work or retire (again) in a month. That's being hard on him I know but I think all of us hoped that "stuff" was behind him. Again, Art is 68...at 68 you know who are, what you think, and how you feel..sure he's a complicated guy but not anymore complicated than the rest of us. I say this somewhat tongue in cheek but maybe the best thing for us to do for Art Bell is to stop kissing his A$$ all the time and excerise some tough love. Art doesn't have to travel very far on the internet to see thousands of people telling him how great he was/is...day in and day out...and for some people that is enough. That sustains their vanity. It's a helluva lot easier simply being told you're great and the best than going and proving you're STILL the best.

Art is a scarce quantity (or at least perceived as such), so we've fixated on him too much, in my opinion. If Coast had a competent host, then we probably wouldn't talk much about Art at all anymore.
I can see an alternate history where a forum such as this would be focused on talking about guests and topics, rather than scrutinizing hosts ad infinitum.

Jeebus.
It was Art. No maybe about it.
He updated his fans about his possible return -- and that's all he ever said it was -- because Art Bell fans (me included) constantly beg him to come back and ask him for news. He then changed his mind for a solid reason. That doesn't warrant the death penalty or even a public flogging with a wet noodle, regardless of the fact he's changed his mind before. He didn't lie to anyone or tell everyone to read between the lines and speculate themselves to orgasm. In fact, he cautioned people to wait and see because nothing was a done deal.
I understand how disappointed people are but turning that disappointment into rage against Art is unfair and ridiculous. And Beyon' Bleef too.

No, that's not possible.

That's what he said.
I sent this as a private message to someone and added some on that I didn't put on this one. He (the market manager) was very careful to only answer my questions. The program directors have been free flowing with information, but this guy was way more tight lipped. Had the girl before him not given me information, I don't know if I would have gotten anything out of him. He didn't say they were going to switch, he said they were midway through the decision process. That could be to look at Art's numbers and go from there, or whatever.
Feel free to disagree with any of my opinions or whatever, but know this. I wouldn't misquote anyone I spoke with on the phone when anyone else could just as easily make the same call. No BS in my posts, sir.

KDAL, KROC also looking at it right now, whether they should switch to Art's show or not.
Just talked to the market manager of all MN affiliates, KDAL connected me to him. He said they are right now midway through the decision phase. He seemed really caught off guard by my inquires and a little uncomfortable. So not only are they considering switching one or two of the affiliates in the Minneapolis/MN area, but ALL of the affiliates.
Its very clear to me that this is a done deal, and has been done for a little while now.

I took your lead and called two of my local radio affiliates are in Pennsylvania and both seem to have knowledge that this was happening, but they were not at liberty to say if a switch would be made instead they put me in connection with program managers and I'm waiting for calls back..

The chat room is located next to the 1-800 party line. Walk 50 feet down the hall, turn left and look for "nerds meet here" sign.

This is very true, but most candidates don't have the funds to buy this much air time.
