I forced myself to listen to most of "Kingdom of Nye" last night and I came away from that 100% sure that Heather Wade is seriously mentally ill.  I'm no mental health professional, but she's obviously suffering from severe depression, along with paranoia (talking about her "enemies") and sleeplessness.

I've never heard anything like it on talk radio.

Hell, Keith Rowland was being compassionate when he offered her a 6 month leave of absence.  She needs it and she needs someone to reel her back in to reality.

As a guest, though, Jesse Ventura exposed his Naval "service" for the fraud it was when he had to explain to George what "sea stories" were.  I don't know how anyone could go through nine years in the Navy -- even as a PIO reserve -- and not know about or heard of that term.

Yeah.  And her unwillingness to do any kind of self promotion, like making personal appearances or get a new photo of herself done isn't in her favor.

Despite her talent limitations, she had a golden opportunity with Art to really grow MITD, but she blew that one.   Hell, by contrast, Noory is the king of self promotion and it's worked out well for him. 

Speaking of vultures, someone needs to ask her on open lines if she now takes back what she said about George Knapp...

I think Dave Schrader's proven to be a shrewd choice to take over the host chair for MITD.  In time, I think he could take on George Noory for late night dominance.   George's big advantage, of course, is being affiliated with Premiere and all those terrestrial stations, but his demographic is over 55 and in the medium and long term, it's a loser.   Dark Matter, being digital, is set up for the future and if they can pick off some key AM terrestrial stations in the short term, DM will be able to challenge George and C2C.

Noory's biggest problem is that -- with regard to making Coast a better program --  he's basically lazy.  He does the same thing, the same way every night.  The same old tired "news" analysts, the reduced content -- such as it is -- and his weak interviewing skills.  C2C has turned into a promotional device for his in-person appearances, lounge singing act, TV show, books, etc.   

Heather, on the other hand, was totally averse to any kind of self-promotion, STILL not even bothering to update  her publicity photo.  If Dave is willing to make some personal appearances at key events and promote the show better than Heather, MITD will be looking good down the road.

You -- or anyone else interested -- might wanna check out "Letters & Politics" on KPFA M-TH at 10 AM PDT.  It's a program featuring historical analysis pertaining to current events, featuring top scholars in their respective fields.   

Also, I saw about 50 pages back that someone had some interest in WWI.  There's a great book to read called "A World Undone," by G.J. Meyer.  It's an excellent history of the Great War.  And with regard to the run up to that war, check out Sean McMeekin's, "July 1914."

Exactly.  Heather's going to have to learn to do promotional work -- like conventions, meet-and-greets, conferences and the like to grow her fan base.  And for crying out loud, replace that old photo with some decent publicity shots.  Hiring a good manager couldn't hurt.

Keith seems to be pretty conciliatory toward Heather on the AB homepage.  Why not?  None of Heather's fans are left as subscribers and with his new host, he'll either sink or swim.

And he might be betting that this thing Heather's trying to do won't make it.

IMO, the whole thing really collapsed for Heather when she made the choice not to go to the funeral.  Aside from properly mourning Art, it would've been a good time to make arrangements to meet with Keith and the lawyers and get things straight with regard to the near-term future of MITD. 

Instead, Heather relies on her own worst instincts (as she's been doing since then), with the predictable results.

I'm also very curious to find out 1) How Art died, exactly and 2) What's on Airyn's mind?

Questions about her lineage and sexual relationships are not off limits based solely on her over-the-top response to Art's death.  I am very sure that any legal representation for Keith would be acutely aware of the criticisms and conjecture found on BellGab.  Where there's smoke, there's fire.

I don't know which part of UFO Undercover was funniest -- it was two hours of comic gold -- but my vote is for Heather taking a call in the middle of the interview.  That and the open mike commentary by HR and Montaldo during the break....

Well, no one can say Heather doesn't know how to manipulate her gang of sycophants.  Checking out her FB page, it's pretty easy to see that the whole thing has morphed into the "cult of Heather," and she's milking that cow for all it's worth. ANY comment that doesn't follow the cult line is flamed by both the Lashas and the guys who have fantasies of being HR's cuckshed white knight.

On the other hand, though, you can bet those psychos in the "cult" will be trolling whomever Keith puts in place to replace her on MITD.  And if I were Keith, I'd be watching my back -- some of her supporters have all the appearances of a total break with rationality and may possess, uh, "skills" (or think they do) that could be problematic for KR down the road.

"Baker Street" always did it for me..... How come it's not on the list?  What the hell, it got played....

But what a great tribute show.  Thanks Keith.  Ending it with Inca Dance was PERFECT.  Thanks for the ride Art.  This one was for the books...

Seems to me KR has had to put up with way too much shit from Heather's FB crew.   I think he's been quiet for several reasons and one of them is on the advice of an attorney.  Heather would have been smart to do the same, but she just couldn't resist, could she?  I can understand she's grief-stricken, but her FB posts have shown her to be unprofessional and selfish at the very least.

In any case, if I were KR, I'd give her 3 weeks off (or less, depending on if she's ready to go earlier),  get a competent and well known substitute host in the interim and do the show live starting Monday.  Heather's posts have shown clear intent to breach whatever contract that exists between the parties and KR would be on solid ground, to get a sub for her because he's clearly bent over backwards to accommodate her and he has a business to run.  If she isn't able to come back after 3 weeks, then it's time to shut it down or hire someone who'll show up for work.

This KNYE stuff is interesting, I gotta check it out.

I didn't get an opportunity to listen to the AB tribute last night on Coast, but from just about all accounts, it was pretty good.  One thing though....What was Mike Bara doing among the people like Linda, Whitely, Dannion and Ed Dames?  Well, he was probably there because no way in hell RCH is ever going to be on Coast again, but still there has to be a score (or more) of guests that were far closer to Art than was Mike Bara.

So Ed Dames had a "few" beers?  I'm going to find a way to listen to the show just to hear that.

Art was just an enormous talent.  Much more than Rush or any of the other people in the radio big leagues.  And just think of the wealth he has helped to create for others just from the impetus from his show on Coast?  It must be into nine figures, easily.  Hell, George alone is set for life because he was fortunate enough to be able to walk in Art's footsteps without screwing things up enough to get himself fired -- like Mike Siegel.

I still think the "Mel's Hole" saga was some of the best radio theater ever.  Right up there with War of the Worlds.

Aside from all her stream of consciousness jabber in her "tribute" to Art last Saturday night, I could have sworn I heard her say that Art was found on the floor in his house.  From what I've heard of her, it'd make sense that she'd just blurt out something like that without thinking...

I've tried to access a replay of her opening monologue with no success (I don't subscribe to Coast Insider).  Maybe someone could verify that she in fact said that. 

I first heard Art Bell on Coast or whatever it was back then, in the very early 90s, when it was a straight talk show, late into the night.  All calls were unscreened, of course, and Art handled all of the calls, many of them from very strange people, in his unique, unflappable way.  It was interesting and amusing.  Then along came Dreamland and the game completely changed.  It was Art's greatest asset -- his intellectual curiosity -- that built the paranormal radio talk genre, launching the careers of many and introducing the work of Linda Moulton Howe and Whitely Strieber, among countless others, to the mainstream of AM talk.  Art got put down by a lot of media writers, but he was a man for his times and despite many setbacks, he kept at it.

He was an enormous talent and he did it with ease because he loved what he did.  There was nothing forced or phony about him.  I think you got Art just as he really was every time out of the gate.

I'm really going to miss Art Bell and my condolences to his family and to all who enjoyed his work.  He was a real legend.

Art, enjoy the Big Ride wherever it takes you.  So long.

Well, I'm not cynical to the point you are -- yet -- but I do think it's a pretty crazy idea to announce this deal publicly and invite her entire listenership to join her, in June, in the Nevada outback.  There's going to be some people there that won't be prepared for the desert, including dehydration and car breakdowns, so I hope she gives a heads up to those people that need it.  I see her point, though, she may need a lot of witnesses if something interesting does happen (aside from her getting busted, of course).

From now on, the feds are going to know when a flea farts on the backside of any of the cats in the Bell/Wade compound -- if they don't already -- and the "secret location" won't be any secret to them, either.

I don't know how far she's thought this one through, but the one thing she'd better do before is get legal counsel lined up -- and have a courtroom strategy figured out in advance.

On the other hand, I live within an easy day's drive of Pahrump and I might show up.  I've been on one or two of these paranormal snipe hunts before and it's a trip to check out all the true believers that show up. 

Not having read through all the posts in this forum since Heather's announcement to try to penetrate Area 51 security to find out what's really "going on," there and at the same time to try to attract aliens to the site,  here's my 2 cents.

For one thing, she's going to get busted.  Blabbing her plans on the air and inviting her audience to come along for the ride is an obvious invitation to the federal security force at the site to make sure to arrest her and whoever else is foolish enough to go past the no trespassing signs with her.  I think her game plan is to get busted and take the whole thing to federal district court in Vegas and in the process, put the government on trial for withholding information on UFOs to the general public.  In effect, she wants to force disclosure via a trial. 

I'm guessing that she already has an attorney ready to take the case and  is counting on a jury trial with the verdict being not guilty via jury nullification of all charges against her.  Kind of like the Bundys did in their trial in Oregon, if you're familiar with that case of a few years ago. 

She wants witnesses to her arrest, for security purposes and to make a big thing out of her one-woman crusade to bring disclosure.  Further,  by announcing her plans on her radio show, it will obviously bring media, etc to wherever it is she plans to trespass onto the Area 51 property. 

The feds could charge her and whoever goes with her onto the property not only with trespassing, but with conspiracy, which brings a much stiffer penalty, but is harder to prove.  In any case, if she's convicted, she could go away for a year or more and pay a big fine.  But that's OK,  by doing this she'll garner major publicity for MITD and become a media star for awhile.  So much for being camera-shy, eh, Heather? 

For the chumps that cross the line with her, their lives could be turned upside down if the feds charge them either with trespassing or worse, as co-conspirators.  And if any of them are armed,  God help them.  It'll cost them plenty in attorney's fees and maybe a little time, too.

That's my guess.  The event in June will just be the beginning.

Yeah.  It's getting harder and harder for me to listen to her and I've hung in there since Art started the show up again.  I'm about ready to bail.  The only thing that saves the show is that the guests are usually pretty good and the calls are unscreened.  The show's listening audience numbers must be pretty low, though, because the same people call in over and over on Friday open lines.

Once again, some poor little kid (a 2 year old girl) gets killed in some horrible way -- a mirror fell on her at a Payless Shoe store and Noory has to exploit it by putting it in his news segment.  This happens way too often for it to be a coinshidensh.  He's a sick fuck, isn't he?

I don't know if George just lies for the hell of it or is so used to winging it when he doesn't know WTF he's talking about that it's just part of his schtick, but at the end of the show -- around the time of the strange remarks about Natalie Wood's death -- George was talking with a caller about James Dean and told the caller that there's a memorial on the road where he was killed and that he's "been on that road." 

He told the caller it was on Mulholland Drive between Laurel Canyon Blvd and Coldwater Canyon Ave, which runs along the crest above Hollywood to the south and the San Fernando Valley to the north..  Well he's full of shit!  Dean was killed about 175 miles north of LA on a road leading to (or from) Paso Robles near a little crossroads called Cholame. 

What the hell's wrong with this guy anyway?  For years, night after night, he's continued to say the lamest, stupidest things, that are an insult to the intelligence of his listening audience, yet he endures.   It's a shame.

And don't even get me started on that damned "news" segment where it seems that whenever I tune in, some poor little kid gets squashed under a steamroller or falls off a 200 foot cliff or gets brained by meteorite or some awful thing.  He's a dope AND a ghoul if you ask me...

Once again, George opens his lousy stupid "news" segment about some poor little kid in Oregon who suffered a gruesome death.

This particular story was about some 8 year old who contacted flesh eating bacteria.  These so-called "stories"  -- about little kids suffering and dying in the worst possible ways -- have been a recurring theme in his "news" over the years and definitely are no "coinshedensh." 

That's because George is a fucking ghoul who has some fixation about little kids getting hurt.  A money-grubbing, self-promoting ghoul at that.
