- not quite right,  he didn't run it, he was a teacher's aid.

Still.  How ironic. Now he pisses on our heads and tells  us  it's raining.

I don't understand any of this technical Twitter stuff - no need to try to explain it to me,  I know  the basic premise of it.  But it  Kuh-RACKS!  me up that George is currently obsessed by it.  He has to ask every single guest if they have it,  and  "isn't it great!?" - jeeze-o-peeze,  he harped on it for like, 2 minutes with last night's first hour guest.  For no reason other than to talk about himself.

What a perfect 'tool'  for George, though - something that allows him to just blurt out any inane thought that passes through his head at any moment of the day.

Wow.  Since I put  it that way...,  it almost makes me want to sign up just to read all of the indoubtedly laughable  TWEETS the TWAT will type.

Is there some way you can view that and only that for free,  online?

Wow.  I want to participate in this so bad - and obviously couldn't stop myself - but I don't even know what to say or how to start.  Except it's a topic that me & my friends have batted about since we started listening to music. 35 some years later,  only the band names have changed.  And it's still troubling.  :-[

But why?!  I think that's the funniest part,  is that us music fans struggle with it.  I don't know what quantifies "famous",  but I have a few friends I consider "kinda famous". Others would say, "Whaddaya mean not famous? They're HUGE!"  and others would say,  "Who the fuck are The Fussy Parts?"  (made up name...)

One funny thing is,  even famous musicians struggle with their favorite artists 'getting big'.  I'm not a famous anything,  but usually I'm happy as hell to see a really cool, unique,  underdog type band, artist, whatever get their due,  whether I know them or not.  But at the same time there's a little part of me that wants to keep them to myself.  I wonder why we want to do that?  (I've also watched -with great interest-  the audiences of a particular act change as the artist got more famous. - That by itself is pretty wild to see...  If you're a dork like me, anyhow..)

Some people do turn into assholes when they get bigger,  but, often you'll find that they were assholes before they got famous!  I've  a couple band scenarios, and then heard the inside dirt on many others ...  nobody ever got U2 famous,  but .... you know, maybe a little famous. (Our friend Spooner just got into the RnR Hall of Fame!!)  People who other people in music recognize,  if not the average fan.  And they all gossip, you know.  It's been real interesting hearing all the stories about various acts and how they've dealt with this that & the other thing.

Just try to remember that it is SO.  FUCKING.  HARD.  to make money in that business.   Even the ones you think are  "doing well" - probably aren't doing that well.

The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

...  and he wrote that back in "the good old days!!!"

Yeah, man, I'd definitely be into rootin' though each others drawers sometime, PK.  Let's do that sometime !

I'm a tad distracted at the moment,  but I shall do my best to compile a list or sumpin' to that effect.

I LOVE meeting cool people and having them help me to broaden my horizons.  You won't catch me watching the same episodes of The Twilight Zone over and over again.  ;)

I tried to post pics , and seemed to have failed - it was no big whoop at all - but apologies in advance in case it shows up later all screwy.   :P

Aw may-an!  Netflix doesn't have it.   Pooey!  Well,  I'm gonna have to try to watch it here,  I reckon.

Love the premise.
Remind you of anyone?? ??

Love the way Vonnegut's mind works.

And thus far - about 5 minutes into it - I freakin' love  LOVE   LOVE    LA-HA-HA-HA-HA-UUUUUUUUUV-VAH!- THE SET AND THE CLOTHES !!!! *

OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!
(The living room curtains?  To die for. Television set? Must have one.)

Thanks for the heads up,  PK, that's gonna be FUN!  Lawd!  If you're into that whole retro vibe,  you should get  "Fido".  It's a shameful waste of Billy Connelly,  who plays a zombie /butler, but a not altogether bad movie.  You could actually draw a few loose connections with "Fido" and "Harrison".

But man! oh! man!  the sets,  cars, houses and the clothes nearly made me weep. No detail was overlooked. (except using a Ramones song- major gaff, there...)  'An mah big ol' Hill William hubsbent was in a perpetual state of  "I want that!" "I want that!" "I want that!" "I want that!"   93 minutes of nonstop-covet.  Including a zombie-butler-slave.  (only if it was George Noory, though- man!  that'd be a gas!)

Thanks again, PKA

Duh-icksy

PS- Tim Blake Nelson is pretty fun in this - & about the antithesis of his character, "Delmer",  in "Oh Brother Where Art Thou."

*I wanted brown where the teal is,  duh,  but there was no 'light gray" & their 'brown' was more red,  so i went with 'teal', even though it's not historically correct.

George just said  "They lied!  They lied!"  and spouted a bit more vitriol...

Y'all!  he was totally,  genuinely worked up!   ???  &  :D   Talkin'  about the company that bought out An. Busch, and how they'd promised not to change anything, but then they did - and MAN! WAS HE HOT!

It's about time he got mad because somebody else lied to him!

It was funny and also just plain weird.  For like,  10 seconds, he sounded just like a regular Joe down at the bar.

Weird as hell.

And funny  cuz he lies his ass off all the time.

God,  now bumblebutt is pretending like one of them Nigerian email spams he got is real and he's gonna do it & be rich.  Trying to bait his not so bright listeners  into thinking he's sincere and trying to string them along.
;:)  ;:)  ;:)

What a git.

Atchillee,  he just had a couple minutes left - no time to play with callers.  I guess he just did it to entertain himself.  It worked.

god-dammit!   I just missed  having a Sylvia Browne/Evelyn Paglini moment!  In other words, predicting something that is inevitable.

Actually,  Sylvia often predicts things after they happened,  so,  I guess I still win.  :D

I wanted to predict that George was gonna start requesting women to start singing  "Happy Birthday" to him - and, more specifically,  like "Marilyn Monroe".  But I was busy typing that last  post and that damn Sunny from Hawaii snuck in under my radar.

Bless her heart,  Man! was she hammered.  And I don't mean tipsy, either.  I heard it (the singing) coming,  too, cuz when he first said 'hello',  he slipped right into that voice he uses when he's sleazin' up the broads.  I'm sure Tommy left him a note on the screen saying she had a sexy voice  (not really, but it was kinda flat & breathy like Marilyn's was...) & she wanted to sing at him.

He prolly left out the part about her bein'  stinko.

After she sang, he thanked her and then asked,  "Did you used to sing that as a little girl?"

BBWWWAAAAAAAAAHHH!

Ages ago,  I'd given up on Noory/Danheiser ever attempting to correct any of their bad/annoying/stupid on-air habits. I figured that  after,  what?  7 years  SHUDDER  of them reading & hearing criticisms for the same.  damn. things.  all.  of.  the.  time. , there was no Hope for Change at all.

But this last week I've noticed a couple changes.  Earlier tonight,  George took the last caller,  then immediately told her that he was putting her on hold because he,   "didn't want her to lose her place in line."

One:  he's been greeting each caller by name, and no longer pretends the calls are unscreened, or that  he knows nothing of the content of their query or comments.

Two:  He's no longer pretending that he is technologically unable to hold a caller over during commercial/news breaks.

I'd love to know why,  after all these years,  he and TD have finally decided to change their ways?  It can't be because of listener feedback - I can only surmise that somebody they really respect must have suggested it to them.   Somebody whose butt-pudding GN would eat buckets of in hopes of some 'greatness'  rubbing off on him.

But who would have that much clout?   Can't be any network bigshots,  cuz they don't listen to the show close enough to notice such things.  Or so I'm told by people personally familiar with the inner workings of Clear Channel & Prem.  Radio...

I can see Ian or George maybe trying to politely & surreptitiously slide it into a conversation with him during a brief encounter at some meeting or convention they might both attend.  I kinda doubt either of them would do that, but maybe.  GK would be more liable to, too,  I'm guessing.   BUT!  Even if they did, I'm not so sure he'd do it on their prompting.

Heh heh.  Now, off all of the guests & guest hosts,  he spends the most face time with Linda MH.  The other night he accused her of "partying"  a lot.   I could see her saying something to her sober,  but I'd rather imagine her with a slight buzz and giving him a hard time about all sorts of things.  Not that he'd ever listen to a woman!!! :o, but I do like the thought of her bustin' his balls after she'd had a couple of beers.  (which I'm sure is GN's  idea of "partying".  Have ya heard him talk about drinking?  What a pussy.   The way he talks about drinking reminds me of Aunt Bea from the Andy Griffith Show. )

......anyways... two small steps forward.  But...

he still insists on naming segments of the show - like the always laughable  "Floating Format"  ;:) we're now enjoying.  But hey,  that he's capable of learning anything new at all ... well...  I didn't think it possible!   I got an especially big "roll eyes/ha ha"  the other night when Linda MH was subjected to that - going into the last hour of open lines,  he was compelled to inform us  that segment is called,  "Conversations With Linda".

Oh yeah!  He just reminded me of another little 'thing' he does:   Whenever he talks about how the attitude of the public at large seems to have changed - whether it's  'uptight',  'agitated',  'fearful' - it doesn't fuckin'  matter, you know he's referring to the same damn thing!  whaddevah!  - have y'all noticed he always says,
"Have ya noticed in the last,  ... oh...  6 months...  how it's changed?"

GAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!

For 7 fuckin' years the last 6 months

Does anybody know?  Is that  wee Gavin, the Grandson?  Gavin whose "food bowl"  George accidentally  ate from on a family get-together ?I don't know  sh*t about chidrearing.

Oh,  but!  Speaking of Schadenfreude - well, that's not the right term, really,  but,  "wishing for George to screw something up"...

I know I can't be the only one who actually hopes GN  will come up with an extra stupid one,  and the other night would have been quite an opportunity.   So I had this little fantasy...

What *really* happened was,  some guy called during George Knapp's open lines,  and from what I recall,  was more or less coherent, although I don't recall the subject.  But he and Mr. Knapp  were having a typical host/caller exchange.  No big whoop.  Dude made a couple points,  GK acknowledged them.  End of story - but then, right before he hung up,  they guy said something to the effect of,

"Oh!  and  God Bless Scott Roeder (the guy who murdered the abortion doctor).  He did a great thing."

Mr. Knapp just said, after the guy had hung up,  "Thank you for your call."  I think he may have added a short comment about the initial subject the guy was on about.

Now,  at the time,  I didn't recall who Scott Roeder was,  however,  just by the way the caller went about it,  i had a feeling it was something controversial.  Once we realized who it was,  we naturally assumed that GK didn't recognize the name offhand, either,  cuz you know he wouldn't have let that just slide by.

However - and I KNOW y'all are already way ahead of me here....   yup, yup,  you got it.  I don't even need to finish the thought.

There's a lot of variations on how it could have gone down,  and they're all pretty much cringeably hilarious.

Not long after that,  George K.  addressed the comment & situation,  saying that he wasn't aware at that moment who Roeder was,  and then went on to say that,  regardless of your opinion on that issue,  killing someone like that is just fucked up.   And then more or less washed his hands of the moment  and carried on.

And then,  appropos of nothing, but, has everyone noticed that whenever anyone talks about reducing the world's population, GN  freaks out & immediately assumes that that means "they"  are coming to murder him, his entire family ?   He'll utter  concern about everybody else in the world,  but he's scared witless there will be no more of his DNA traversing the continents.  What a weirdo.

Okay,  I'll leave y'all be for now - I gotta finish having my hair done.  ;:)

Having been a student of "Nooryspeak"  for many years now,  I tend to agree with you, EvB.  I hope I'm wrong,  of course - you know I love the Schadenfreude and all - but I doubt he'd be that excruciatingly pompous deliberately. (keyword is:  "deliberately )  He was using his  bloated,  "faux humble"  tone of voice when he delivered the line.  What he probably meant was,  "They graciously asked me",  and, as you said,  he got it backassward.   Still though- makes ya wonder why they asked him to write anything at all,  since the man can't even speak,  let alone write.   Note,  they did give him the "Afterward".  No need to scare the readers off by starting the book out with his gobbledy-gook.  And nobody ever reads "afterwards"  anyway.  ;)

...  although, .....  next time I'm in a bookstore,  I may just have to take a peek!   People will wonder why the crazy lady in the UFO section is rolling around on the floor laughing.

BTW-  I got the  .63 cent copy of  WiTL,  but haven't had the stomach to crack it open again.  Someday soon,  though.  I must share with y'all.    That book is like... like...  yanno when somebody is drinking something icky,  and they go,  "AW!  GAH!   TASTE THIS!!!"  and hand it to you?

It's like that.  The revulsion must be shared.

Once again,  because I was only half listening,  I don't have this verbatim,  but the important bits are dead on.

Noory and guests are patting each other on the backs for their works on various books and things,  then GN says,  about  Carey & Schmidt's newest book,  "Witness to Roswell",

"... and then he asked me ...    ...  write the afterward  of his book,  which I so graciously accepted to do as well."

The highlighted word I'm positive were in there,  the others are close enough to get the gist.  But the incriminating words I'd swear on a Bible that I heard.
;:)

He don't think much of himself,  do he?

(I bet when he reads posts like the above,  he bitches about the 'unprofessional journalism'  and that my words count for naught,  as clearly I'm too much of a hick to use proper grammar.   That tickles me.
OH YEAH!!    HEY Y'AAAAAAALLLL!   Hope yer dern good & enjoying the lovely evening!   Hogs and quiches to all y'all.

First hour last night,  GN had Zecharia Sitchin on.  For one thing, I'm perpetually annoyed by Noory's pronunciation of his name,  saying  "Zacharia" -

And then all of the butt-licking going on was galling, but not as much as GN claiming to have read 7 of Sitchin's books.    ;:)   In the interview I did with Noory,  he claimed that he was a "speed reader"  and was able to "pick out the meat"  of any given book.

This from the man who said to Sitchin:  "You capsitalized it all into one book."

I still have a headache from my eyes rolling back into my head during the first hour last night.  I wanted to listen to the entire show,  because I knew it would yield some classic lines,  but in the end I opted for sleep.  Oh well.  Maybe next time.  ......or not.  ;D

Not to deny you anything,  but in Ian's defense,  his call screener might not have told Ian the caller was "that guy"  that tries to get in every fucking week.   I'm not 100% positive,  but I think Gina gives him a sentence or two rundown on the computer screen as to what to expect from any given caller she lines up.  And sometimes George's beloved Tom Danheiser does the screening for Ian, too.  fwiw, which is probably nuttin'.   :)

First off,  "HAAAAAAAYY MICHAEL!!"  Good to see you again - I need to check in more often.  I hope you & your lovely wife are doing better than well.

As for the book --  I gave my copy away a long time ago,  but reordered a used one from Amazon today -  I figure,  WTF?   The laughs I'll get by revisiting it will be worth  .63.   Then maybe I'll offer it up to one of y'all,  if anyone here has the stomach for it.   You're first on the list,  Michael,  but I know you've said you haven't the will to subject yourself to it.   It takes a truly sick mind to want to read that thing -  especially twice!!

I'm thinkin'   my beloved  EvB might take a whack at it,  though !   I'd love to share the experience with her.

Amazon is currently asking the ridiculous price of $18.21 - however there are a lot of booksellers offering NEW copies for 4 bucks,  and lots of used copies for practically nuthing.   Signed copies are only $25.00 - which is the price listed on the book jacket.

Shows you what a desirable tome it is and what a "hot" commodity"  Noory is.  (burp)

So anyways,  once I get that and pick through it some,  I'll share with y'all.   I remember when I read it initially I was constantly screaming out loud at various blurbs and quotes,  and often having to either show my husband or make him read it because it was so unbelievable.

Heh. The old man just suggested I go through it and underline all of the offenses with red ink and send it to George - but I'm sure he wouldn't read it.   I don't think you could force that guy to read a book - not even his own.   (the attached video is highly offensive & politically incorrect - so approach with caution if you're sensitive.  Pffffffttttt!   Yeah right!! )

Yeah and Shithead said it was going to be about 'talking to the dead'  -  WTF does he know about it?  Other than having had guests on that talk about it while he's busy Googling himself?   He's even more underqualified to co-write this book than he was the last one!!   I wonder who will edit it?   The last book was laughably "edited"  by one of Whitley's editors, and I can only believe that Whitley writes well enough to not need any editing,  because this person seemed to have not touched a thing in the Noory/Birnes  book.  Mistakes and typos and bad grammar abounded.   You'd think Birnes might have noticed too,  but apparently not.

Yeah, that kind of thing can be annoying. I think it might be a regional accent or something. I've heard people pronounce words like that before on television. Not too many, possibly because most people who go into acting and broadcasting are coached to speak a certain way. I noticed Courtney Cox do it on Friends, which I thought was interesting, but not particularly annoying. I can see how that kind of thing could push one over the edge though. Actually, I've had some teachers I recall feeling that way about.

Oh Jayzus!   To my ears his Midwestern accent is so thick you need a machete to cut through it.  The sickest part is how he often praises his old speech professor and  brags about  how he was a stellar student while in broadcasting school.

On Friday the 25th George was "interviewing" a guy who was talking about creatures of myth and legend. I only caught part of the show.. I tuned in during a very lengthy (and intelligent) monologue by this guy, who happened to be speaking with an Irish accent. At the end of his lengthy discourse, George's only comment was, "Now. Tell me about leprechauns!"

It was the funniest thing I'd heard all day.

A few weeks ago he had some Irish guy on - probably talking about Leprechauns for St. Patrick's Day, just like he does every year -  and after the guest finished a little monologue about whatever his forte was,  George non-sequitorally asks,  "Do you sing "Danny Boy"? "

GAH!

Would it be a tard disguised as a demon?  You know that Halloween is upon us.  It is my understanding that a demonic tard is just slightly below a demonic moron and in the cosmic realm if like attracts like as in magnetism then it is only the law of the universe that a tard would attract a demonic tard.  So, Is George Noory a Demon?  My analysis says yes he is, not only a demon, but also further defined as a demonic tard.

I believe you've nailed it.   Perfect.   All of them scooting about on his book "tours"  in the little demon-tard short bus.

I wondered a similar thing several years ago,  but quickly came to the conclusion that he is far too stupid to be a demon.  Consequently,  I then wondered if he might be possessed by some very lesser demon - a very simple,  base sort of malevolent being that attaches itself to people too stupid to even realize they're possessed.
