I actually listened to open lines last night- a Friday night - and George was alert, responsive, and even sounded interested (especially with that sasquatch woman)... it was tolerable and at times interesting....I'm getting worried - what's going on?

The strega witch guest Noory has on tonight, sounds like the same type as Evelyn Paglini.
Norry keeps trying to get her admit she is really an evil witch, that he grew up thinking they all were.

You're right, even George mentioned their similarity.  I think it's the confident, tell-you-how-it-is demeanor. Except Evelyn Paglini has an even more interesting voice (could have done without this one's New York accent).  I love listening to Paglini - it wouldn't even matter what she's talking about.  Her old shows with Art were great, although I can't say I put that much credence into her beliefs.

There are days when I find Stern unbearably obnoxious but also at times hilariously entertaining (most of this is probably Robin, though.  Once she cackles uncontrollably, I loose it).  At this point, I'd welcome him to Coast.  If it's a black and white choice between Noory and Stern, I'll take Stern.  At least he'd keep me awake.  I'd like to see him interrupt Linda Moulton Howe during one of her droning diatribes with an interrogation about her bra size.

Well, that certainly wasn't a ringing endorsement... There were actually days back then when I thought George wasn't so bad... I tune in for a few minutes every week and it's usually the most awkward thing I hear for days - you know, the guests perplexed and flummoxed over his inane, rhetorical "questions".   Why do I still tune in at all anymore?  Why do any of us?

TIME FOR A RECIPE .... GREAT FOR THESE COLD FEBRUARY DAYS:

No very cold Feb. days where I live... my tulips are already blooming... looks like I'll have to pass on the recipe (what a shame!).  Is anyone familiar with potion making?  Is FortRock trying to coerce us into concocting a deadly brew?

Noory has literally spent the last twenty minutes on air bragging about how he helps hard luck cases by throwing around his money and then gets annoyed when they take too long to pay it back in full.

Bragging apparently in order to impress the author of the NOVELIZATION of ROMANCING THE STONE.

Midway through the afternoon yesterday, I decided to check C2C's site and see what topics Snoory was entertaining in upcoming shows.  When I saw the description of last night's show, I thought, okay, I will give it a try.  Perhaps the guest will rectify anything George spews out.  Maybe he will be absolutely silent and she will surprise me with some good listening?

It was around 2am, I believe, and, as I usually am, in a stupor between being half asleep and half-assed awake.  As soon as I pop in my earbuds I hear George blowing hot air about his superior generosity and how "we must help people".   This went on for literally a half an hour.  I was struck, like you, by how he bragged of helping someone financially in a tough spot, only to admit that he was pissed off and expected the guy to return the money and confronted him about it.  He said it was about 2 years and the guy still hadn't paid back $1800 of the $2000 he "loaned".  BUT, he knew the guy was still in a horrible financial situation.  But he still asked for the money back.  Real generous, George!  "I'm willing to help people..... but only if they pay me back.... in a timely manner..... oh, unless it's family".  What a jackass.  I wouldn't be surprised if he'd charge family interest.

Anyway, i fell asleep after that.  Never got to hear a word about the night's topic.  I totally forgot I had even listened to it last night until I read your post and it sparked my memory.

A caller in the final hour of c2cam tonight with Noory claimed to be the mother of Art Bell's wife Ramona.
She mentioned its been five years now since Ramona passed on.
She also told of being now a regular c2cam with Noory listener.
Can Art confirm if that caller was really Ramona's mother?

If not, that's some screwed up shit.  Seeing as every call for Noory is screened, I would hope they had the decency to investigate that it was really her before letting her on the air.

The mess is indeed cleaned up finally. It is strange that something designed to
save you in a emergency can cause one.

As for Coast, the show has changed which from my point of view is a shame but
it is the right of the Host doing the show to take it in the direction they see fit. I
have had many offers to join other Networks to compete if I wished BUT I have
decided that I do not wish to destroy what I built, or what is left of it.

I really am enjoying being Retired, I can be part of my Daughter's life as she grows
and it is a blast. I do miss all of you though. I am not saying I will not pick up a mike
one day, just not this day. I learned long ago, never say never.

                                                                                     Art

It's great to hear from you on Coastgab, Art.  You speak for many of us by acknowledging that Coast is not what it was.  Being a painter, I cannot imagine having passed on a life's work, my pride and joy, to see it slathered in tar.  That said, I, like others, listen to your Coast episodes daily, remembering an old story here and there, often re-living the excitement of those times, or re-discovering episodes like new that we've forgotten or simply never heard.

I do look forward to hearing you host again somewhere on the airwaves, Mr. Bell, if even one more time.  Don't feel pressured, but, all of us, if we express it or not, would be thrilled by the prospect!

It gives me great joy to hear of your family's wellbeing. It's a rare treasure to be able to raise your daughter without the rigor of a full-blown career and to have the ability to be there for the countless little moments (that are really big ones) that come along.  All the best!

Since I have good taste in music, you're correct in assuming that I have not listened to that crud. I'd rather have Ian's tinnitus than hear Blink 182 or it's offshoots. A middle aged man listening to Blink 182 sounds very "Sanduskian"...

Yeah, it "eats me up" that I didn't listen to a radio show with a star-fucker host with a teeny-bopper guest. God damn, was I devastated by that. If I only only turn back time 15 hours and listen to this scintillating discourse between Ted Baxter Knapp and that punkmo DeLonge.. my life would be fulfilled.

I am slightly younger than Tom.  Blink was a band of my youth and I still enjoy their music.  I'm sure you still enjoy rock bands of your youth.  If not, you're in the minority.  You've went off the deep end with the Sandusky comment.  There is much rage emanating from your response.  It's not normal.  And neither are you judging from your posts in other threads.  I hope you sort out your life.  Merry Christmas!

I didn't "pre-judge", I based my skepticism on the abysmal track record of this puerile corporate rock whore who put out absolutely shitty music.

Who's Knapp got next week... Corey Hart on Chupacabras? Terrence Trent D'Arby on chem trails? Vanilla Ice on the Shroud of Turin?

You did pre-judge and you are still judging.  It must eat you up that Tom DeLonge was actually a good guest.  I'm not a "14 year old girl".  I'm a man pushing middle age.  I doubt you've actually listened to Angels & Airwaves, watched LOVE, or read Neighborhoods' lyrics... but, I digress and have got better shit to do.

You all should not have pre-judged someone like Tom.  Have you read the lyrics of the new Blink 182 album Neighborhoods, or, moreso those of Angels & Airwaves (Tom's other band)?  They are thought provoking and take interesting looks at "the big picture".  Tom was always introspective and curious about the unknown, but since having cancer I think he's accelerated that interest.

Last night, in a sort of medium between completely passed out and barely awake... almost asleep with the radio on and earbuds in my ears ... I was jolted a bit by hearing Blink's "Aliens Exist".  I had no idea Tom would be on and, natutally, I thought to myself "Am I hearing things?  Don't I have Coast on?"  I was suddenly giddy and wide awake when George mentioned who his next-hour guest was.  I was only able to make it through an hour and a half of Tom since it was 3:30 am here on the East Coast. I hope somebody puts the rest on YouTube because there's no way in hell I'm signing up for Coast Insider to put money in Noory's pockets (although Tom said he is a subscriber ... come on Tom, don't support Noory!).

Tom spent years producing the independent film LOVE (intertwined with Angels & Airwaves' 2-part album of the same name).  It's worth watching.... you can find it on iTunes.  Tom DeLonge would blow any host out of the water (besides Art).  You can tell he has an insatiable curiosity for Coast topics.  However, it would likely require him to drop two bands, his footwear company, producing and other projects... and being a huge fan of his, I'm not sure I'm ready for that!

Well, I am pretty sure that while most of them are headquartered here due to their proximity to the Pentagon, they have stations and offices elsewhere.

Those have virtually no effect on the nation's economy.  You're right with the Washington area reaping the apparent economic benefits of military operations, but this isn't the same as war having a positive effect on the national economy during the 1940s.  That wartime economic boom was spurred through industrialization that is unheard of today.  Any economic benefit of war today is merely hyperlocal, and superficial at that, because (obviously) the cost-benefit ratio is overwhelmingly negative.  The billons spent on the wars we are in far outweigh any local economic mini-booms in places like the Washington suburbs.

Quote from: Frys Girl on October 10, 2011, 10:02:41 AMget the sense that you're after me about my comment. I didn't say I think war is good for the economy, but it is something that society falls back on in bad economic times.

I'm after your comment, not you.  I think it is ridiculous to not recognize that we are in multiple wars right now.

Also, as I said, to suggest that society wants to fall back on wars to boost the economy is simply untrue.  How do you figure that society is or is going to "fall back on wars" in this economic climate?  I don't hear anyone advocating our engagement in yet another war, so I don't see how you can assume this.

Agreed.  I think that poster has the misconception that this is still 1943 and that our country still actually MAKES things in a factory to supply war and commercial needs.

By the way, what is up with the "going to war AGAIN"?  Are we not in more wars right now than we've ever been at one time in our nation's history?

There's plenty of evidence the "people" (well, that's how Mitt Romney refers to them) he was referring to did steal it. But don't those radical "socialists" Obama or Eric Holder to do anything about it.

By the by.....the media did whatever they could to ignore OWS for almost 2 weeks until it became impossible to ignore. Meanwhile, CNN will cover any gathering of more than five Tea Partiers......which is getting hard to arrange.

You are absolutely correct. And OWS is the "media's darling"?  You've got to be kidding me.  Every piece of coverage I've caught from half of the outlets has tried to downplay the whole thing. You've got FOX continuously pushing the story that it's just hippy "kids" (sorry, people in their mid twenties and early 30s are not kids.  They are young adults and next in succession to inherit the mess your inept generation has concocted.) with nothing better to do, who don't have a job (as if that is something to vilify someone for in this economy), and who are all "socialists" and have no idea what they want.  I watched FOX all night tonight and this is what I heard from Huckabee and guests of Geraldo.  What a circus (as usual).

MSNBC, the other wing of lunacy, is trying to coopt the movement and turn it into something the Dems, labor, and Soros can own to help boost Obama.  The whole thing has become one big clusterfuck in the media if you ask me.  The original message has been distorted and fragmented and OWS is loosing its cohesiveness due to groups as opposing as labor & anti-capitalists and Alex Jones & Paul supporters trying to claim the movement at the same time.

Maybe listeners should take up the duty of calling in and questioning since George prefers to twiddle his thumbs.

Now that's a solid suggestion - basically fire GS and make it a four hour call in show. The guests can book themselves, call in and have a screener handle the switchboard, cut to commercials, go to breaks, etc. We should do an email campaign to the affiliates giving them the idea of a listener run overnight show. It couldn't be any worse, saves GS salary and might actually be entertaining. Just like Snoory was 'sprung' on us with no notice when Art left - they could just fire his ass and tell the audience, "Good news! It's your show now and here's how it works..." People would love it. They could call in or just email their questions (like Google is doing with tonight's Republican debate). You don't even need an announcer - just use Dragon speech alternating between sexy male and female voices.

I've really got to stop drinking before noon...

Haha!  I love this!  Can't get much worse than Noory- I would actually be intrigued by this.

For the record, I didn't say anything of the sort. That was your inference. My point was that the guest in question, far from being a serious medical expert, is all over the map concerning the subjects he writes and lectures about.

I'm something of a 911 Truther myself, though of the there-are-a-lot-of-unanswered-questions variety, rather than the Bush-and-Cheney-personally-flew-the-planes-by-remote-control partisan political nutballs.

I think you were trying to tie the two together- to make him look even crazier since he is a "9/11 truther".  That's how it came across.  Anyway, I, too, have my doubts about Bush and Cheney and their involvement - not everyone who does is basing it on politics.  I am far from a liberal.

Interestingly, Ian isn't afraid to get into a friendly argument with listeners.

This is one thing I really like about Ian's hosting (it's truely a 50/50 thing for me with Ian).  The man obviously knows the definition of engaging radio.  Granted, some people could find his "confrontational" nature not soft enough (the Noory saps), but I find it invigorating- especially when trying to stay away at 3 or 4 am and keep interested.  Even if I don't agree with Ian's point of view, I find myself gaining more respect for him simply because he is NOT George and is willing to butt heads to defend or deflect a point.

Where we seem to part ways is whether it is moral to allow your show to be used as a platform to push completely unproven ideas and therapies while warning people that the doctor will poison you slowly resulting in your death if you listen to them.

Personally, I didn't listen to the show.  I thought about it, but it is too emotional for me to sit for hours and listen to the topic.  I'm not sure exactly what "alternatives" the guy's proposing, but I understand what you are saying. I do disagree, though, that listening to oncologists will not result in being slowly poisoned to death.  That's exactly what chemo is.  This is the whole reason we are searching for alternatives.  I think the issue, perhaps, is not whether or not to allow opinions condemning current "therapies" or discussing the need for alternatives, but the presentation of alternatives as a definite solution.

This is where Noory has failed moral responsibility to research before the show and question and challenge during it.  If I'm correct, this isn't the first time this man has been a guest- he will likely be on again.  Maybe listeners should take up the duty of calling in and questioning since George prefers to twiddle his thumbs.

Yes, I realize that is what the guest believes.  However, George has given the guest a platform and refuses to ask the hard questions as usual.  I think the only point where he might have cast some doubt on the guests claims was when he asked if a doctor might have been put in prison for NOT curing cancer rather than for curing it with a machine as his guest claimed.  When the doctor responded that everybody ever treated with the machine was cured Grorge just accepted it.

The doctor claims that another MD was put in prison for curing several people with apricot pits.  Later the doctor claims that the authorities will not prosecute him because they don't want a trial to cause the public release and publicity of the information he holds.  Back to critical thinking... how is it that the authorities will not prosecute him but will prosecute all of these other doctors who have cured cancer through the ages?

I'm sorry- but unless George were to give some honest warnings and point out that if salt water had cured hundreds of cases that word of mouth would make it spread.  Instead he played the sidekick to the doctor.  On a topic like this you are not allowed to be complacent in the spread of misinformation without being held accountable.  No, I'm sorry, but George does not get a pass for the use of his show as a vehicle for this information anymore than the doctor gets a pass just because he honestly believes what he says (provided that he actually does and that it is not just about profit.)

As we are engaging in critical thinking I would like to know if the doctor really believes that 17 "bodyguards" at his upcomming seminar would actually prevent his assissanition?  Would the NWO really wait for him in public?  If they are as powerful as the claims, would 17 armed men really stop them?  The doctor seemed to hint that the drug companies made an attempt on his life.  Apparently, in the guests world a hit man stops if the attempt was unsuccessful.  Did the man who made the attempt return the cheque to Bayer when he failed?

Had George even invited a "traditional" oncologist to be interviewed alongside this "doctor" it would be passable.  Using his show to spread propaganda unchallenged makes him complicit.

My point was that you were trying to pass the quote from the website as the "he" being Noory, when, in fact, it was referring to the doctor.  Just because George is a moron and cannot ask a question, doesn't mean he agrees with everything the guest says.  Also, when I mentioned critical thinking, I was referring to the other poster's reference to questioning 9/11 as akin to being crazy.

Back on topic- sure, George is ignorant for not questioning this man's ideas, but this is the way George is with every guest.  All that was needed was intelligent questioning/ challenging by Noory, not a "traditional oncologist". (Ian could have handled the interview sufficiently alone) That's like saying for every guest on the program who raises questions about the status quo, the host is required to have a counteracting voice on the program.  Art didn't even do that.  In my opinion, it is good to have different views aired out.  Who is to say traditional oncology is not propaganda?  No doubt it is.  It's funny, because would you have been accusing an oncologist of being murderous?  People die of traditional cancer "therapies" every day- why isn't a bigger stink made of that? I've probably had more people die of and suffer through cancer in my immediate family and community than anyone on this board, and I can assure you that chemo, rad., and surgery is not working.  Even if this particular guest's views are not sound, I am grateful that the topic is being discussed at all.  People need to start questioning this entire disease - from environmental causations to deadly treatments- it's time to start talking.

From their site  "...will discuss the latest discoveries about the nature of the disease and why he believes chemotherapy, radiation, and mammograms cause cancer."

If he takes his own advice and seeks the help from his guests he should be dead in a few months and we can go back to a host who does not endanger the health of his listeners to get his jollies.

As much as I dislike George, you've misread.  The quote was about how the GUEST believes those things, not George, and about the guest coming on to explain why he believes what he does.

Turns out the good doctor is also a 911 Truther.

Hmm, I wouldn't try to equate that with being bat shit crazy.  If anyone actually believes 9/11 happened the way it's widely reported, he should spend more time exercising basic critical thinking.

This is what I meant in my angry rage typing.  It is so frustrating because even though George sucks I want to still enjoy Coast but he makes it almost unbearable sometimes.  Its a completely different show.  Maybe I am just going through what everyone else has gone through on these forums and I am just taking it roughly.

Here is reference to some of the shows I mentioned from some of my previous posts so people don't have to look them up...

"In my opinion that guy and his son who think they are shamans are probably the lamest guests I have ever heard by far.  I got a show called "Paranormal Communications" with Paul and Ben Enos?/Inos?  The show had nothing to do with paranormal really, it was just the guys kid talking about how he thinks he has superpowers and his dad cheering him on and talking about how proud he is of his son.   Its almost entertaining how lame they are, but its also kind of sad.  The whole show they told stories that made no sense and went nowhere regarding energies and ufos at herb farms and the whole time George is like HOW DID YOU GET SO SENSITIVE BEN? HOW DID THIS HAPPEN TO YOU? (show may 16 2011 - paranormal communications)  I actually reccomend you listen to this because it is such a joke.  Count how many times the kid says "like" i just turned the mp3 on i have heard him say "like" at least 10 times I have only been listening "like" 30 seconds or so."

"Oh man I know who you are talking about! I got a show on Demonology and I was like yes awesome! but he is like the steriotypical boring british man.  He talks about cave paintings for like 2 hours and how they relate to the minotaur of cononsis or some ish.
(show I am talking about Apr 7 2011 - Demonology and Ancient Wisdom)"

I can't stand that kid Ben.  He has the worst, cockiest, self-important attitude I've literally ever heard.  Interviews with him are a joke.  He thinks his father is a dumbass- I think they both are.  At least Noory is in good company when they are on.

Whenever there is a topic that I think will be awesome like ghosts or obe or paranormal stuff, the show ends up completely off topic the entire time and has nothing to do with anything related to the actual topic.  Am I crazy? Am I the only one who notices this? Listen to any show.

No, you aren't.  This happens pretty much every night.  It's the whole "So, tell us how you got into this..."  Seriously, I couldn't give two shits about the personal lives of these "guests".  Get to the subject matter!  George goes on and on with this small talk, biographical bs.  He asks the same questions, throws in a St. Louis or Detroit reference, asks about their book and their website, references a recent "meet and greet", talks for 5 minutes about the last time he saw that particular guest and "har har"s away for half the interview with the most annoying "golly gosh" attitude (when he does respond).

He's bored.  Bottom line.  Seriously, though, he wasn't the right fit from the start.  I don't think he knew that, though.  I think he was interested when he accepted the job, but the boredom has numbed him  He's not into the subject matter anymore.  For someone to do as many shows as he does, almost every night, that person needs to be ENTRANCED and FASCINATED with the material.  He's over it.  It's all old hat to him.  I can't really blame him for feeling that way - but he CAN be faulted for not stepping down.  This man needs to hang it up and become a news radio anchor (he likes reading the news the most) or an infomercial salesman.  It's too much to handle past the news.  I usually fall asleep within the first 15 minutes to half hour when I do tune in.  Thank God.

Yeah, I posted it here when I saw a couple of pages back- but, actually, it is Photoshopped!  I've seen the original picture of his face in that ad before on the site somewhere (99% sure of this) and that was NOT the body that was attached to it.  Having studied design and portraiture for years, I can tell you it's altered.  The proportion of the head and body is not right.  Pretty gross to think that Noory looks worse than that in real life.

I run Adblock on my browser so I don't see the ads, but you have to got to be fucking kidding, is that ad for real?

God damn.........LOL

Yes, it's real- fooled the hell out of me!  It was on my first click too and somehow I got TWO ads for the same thing.  My first reaction was  :o What the fuck- it's definitely sunk to a new sick low!  Those pictures make me want to retch
