So with 3 hours to go, let's place our bets. Show or no show tonight?

No show, my faith in ART was smote.  I love being wrong though.

Wouldn't it be great if he just started to stream a show of some other name directly from his site that was somehow different enough for him to not be fucked with by his non-compete with siriusxm?

That would never work and I highly doubt Art wants to deal with a breach of contract lawsuit.

No update on artbell.com

There's a lot of rudeness going on in this thread.  It's getting a bit much for this tasty Canadian.

This site's great except when it's not.

Stop bitching.  K?

I'm going to vote "YES"

This way if it happens I'll have one hell of a time cherry-picking the first sentence of this quote and doing waffle dances

"seek ego death"
- wise advice to anybody...

I wish maybe Art had been advised of this.  I really hope this whole thing has grounded him.  Wouldn't it be great if he just started to stream a show of some other name directly from his site that was somehow different enough for him to not be fucked with by his non-compete with siriusxm?

and i apologize appreantly I can't stream sentences today as well as i normally do... not that i normally string together very welll... all these ellipses...

:P

I like ellipses.  Periods are so, well, final....

If you look at SXMs sceduel Art falls off after Monday...he is Toast.....Now Im all anti Serius . He should sight them for broadcasting Dark Matter on shity software if he wants to have any chance of getting out of the no compete. We all know in reality most peoples stream worked just fine.

My theory is like this:

Art will stream tonight, regardless. We will all listen after live link is posted on Bellgab. Our IP addresses or whatever will be determined.  Sirius will cry breech of contract. We will hear from suits. Bellgab will implode like rats off a sinking portal and George will win. I don't want to say who's responsible but clearly MV and Gnoory and Ft. Rock should be the first to provide some answers.

Discussion?

All I can say is if there's no show and some form of gabcast going on I'm ready to call in!

And all of this magic stuff can be defeated by a proxy server, which is how us tasty Canadians watch US Netflix all the time.

I'll actually expand on this....

You might be able to steal Netflix with a proxy (for a limited time).

But with programs such as I wrote, you would not be able to sustain an attack for more than 2 minutes from any single location. Every type of attack (whether DOS, DDOS, dictionary etc) has an attack signature. Those are detected and blocked (no connection).

The downside of that is a large number of open TCP/IP connections (which need to be handled by upstream routers). The upside is that you are not getting enough data through to create a good rate of success in a hacking attempt.

Which is the point.

But with geolocation, you can have a good success rate (90%+) at blocking casual criminals from stealing content.

It's the advanced morons that use open proxies. They can alter their browser settings to hit a proxy- but that is the extent of their technical know how.

Yes... if you are stealing content. You're simply a criminal.

I think pretty much everyone would agree that there's not much chance of a stream tonight.  Although, it just occurred to me that if Art wanted to do a more robust stress test of the stream he could pop on the stream at around show time after making an announcement here just to see how it would handle the traffic.

No show on Sirius, but at 10pm Ride My See Saw on the stream, then Art. Either a plan or update.

This has nothing to do with Sirius.. I'm willing to bet the softwork works well for most people. It DOES have its issues, but what you are saying is completely off base.

So you were out there fighting the good fight against people streaming DM while it was being broadcast, right? You were notifying SXM of all the shows appearing on youtube, right?

lol get real

Don't you understand that they are a satellite company first? SiriusXM is not to blame here, they could have worked out their issues as Art continued to do the show but he went with the scorched earth tactic instead. /sigh

The first link (http://live.artbell.com:8303/stream) keeps stopping at 8 seconds today for some reason. The http://live.artbell.com:8303/live.m3u link has worked great, though.

If you are using Firefox on Windows then the first link will do that.

They're paying for the content, they just prefer the Netflix from another country. Would you say international listeners from SiriusXM are criminals because to sign up they use a fake address from the United States? No, you wouldn't.

For me first link works best... the m3u won't load in chrome but I think it's supposed be put into window media destroyer

Paul or Keith if you are reading this could you play the scanner feed from the NSW, Australia fire service (http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/9266/web).

There are terrible bushfires raging at the moment. Might be interesting listening.

Thanks mate,
Message passed to Keith.

Paul

And no word from NYC or DC at this time.....

Watching American Netflix from Canada is a violation of the DMCA. That's criminal.
