Sorry the truth hurts, but in any event.

Sure .. like you have a dick ... or a brain for that matter. Truth is you've gone WAY past proving that you are simply a dickless dumbass.

Hey asshole, you're the one that isn't refuting peoples opinions, just throwing shit around, so why don't you man up for a change and try to stay above the fray that so many of you Bell apologists are moaning about.

One more thing..yes, I know about Lewis on youtube, thanks.

Wasn't it all about RADIO with Art?  Some people love radio.  I do.

I don't want to be connected to the computer all night long.  I like to listen in bed, okay?

I thought to some extent it was about radio.  Why dump all the radio listeners because the effin streaming isn't right?

Something else is going on.

Absolutely, you hit the nail on the head, Ravenna. Maybe everyone who was enjoying the show should have emailed Art and said how clear he sounded, how energized he was and it came through with every interview where he seemed legitimately interested in what they had to say. He was polite to phone callers despite the "Am I on?" questions, thanking them at the end of the call - I know that Art cares about his audience and wants them to have the best experience possible but technical problems will occur and he jumped the gun in his reaction. This could have all been worked out while he continued the show but instead he created the ultimatum and quit the show, causing old fans to roll their eyes and left the new audience confused why they weren't getting new content every week. SiriusXM management has to be livid over building him a studio at home, investing all of that money and bending over backwards to honor his requests (which I listed a few of in a previous post) only for him to refuse to compromise. I truly hope SiriusXM takes him up on his no pay/free stream on his website because if they don't, we won't hear him for another two years - a result that could have been avoided if Art didn't mishandle this situation.

Unfortunately, I never emailed or wormholed Art to tell him how good the show sounded (the quality of the audio was SUPERB --- wayyyy better than AM) or to say how great it was to hear him back, and that he was as brilliant as ever (he was and is).  In hindsight, I realize now that I should have.  People like myself who were happy with everything, were sitting back contentedly, not realizing that Art was being swamped with negative emails about the drop-outs, etc.  If I'd known that was going on, I think I would have been motivated to send a few positive emails to let him know not ALL of us were having a bad listening experience.  I sure wasn't.  And I loved (loved!) the on demand feature.  Unfortunately, this would mean I would not listen live, and so of course would not be calling in.  I actually think THIS is the one primary reason for the low volume of callers:  people were choosing to listen at their convenience, on demand.  7pm is not a convenient time for me to listen to a radio show; 11pm is.  That's when I would usually listen, or, if I was too tired, catch up on old shows over the weekend.

He gets a gazillion e-mails and probably even more than that now.  Whereas here, I'm sure he gets relatively fewer PMs.

He'll get notified of the PM via email, so why not cut out the middle man and just send an email.

edit: Just realized I was talking to you McPhallus. You're probably right.

People are angry, let them be angry. I haven't read any "pure hate" here, I've seen people that are really pissed at what Art has done because he's done this too many times before. Pure hate would be a threat of real violence, which I haven't seen directed his way.

I think the "eat a dick" type comments have become a bit too gratuitous. It's one thing to be angry but it becomes something else entirely if we're being vulgar for the sake of being vulgar.

I can't argue with that, but as we've seen with a couple of people recently, the Bell apologist side hasn't exactly been angels in all of this. I think everybody has let their feelings be known and things have been calming down until a couple of recent posters decided to kick it back up. I'm more than happy to tone things down.

I'm past my anger phase with Art. At this point, if he came back, that's fine, if he never does radio again, that is fine also.

A lot of people have had success calling them and cancelling. Pretty sure many of them got some refunding of what they paid.

I actually bought a pint of Chivas last night, for the first time in ages.  I find sipping it slowly (mixed with club soda and MANY rocks) calms my nerves rather nicely.  Have to pace yourself though.

For me Chivas made a perfect pairing with live Dark Matter shows.  I have about a half bottle left, and will leave it untouched as a kind of shrine of hope that Art will return quickly.

In the meantime I will instead swill cheap beer and hope it numbs my brain should I be pulled back to listening to c2c.

I agree as I posted last night. I am disgusted by the people on here that claim to be Art Bell fans but yet they turn on him in an instant. Those are not fans.

Can you give an example of something art bell could do that would infuriate you?

And I don't mean something criminal or whatever. I mean as a radio host, within the confines of radio hosting. Is there a line he could theoretically cross for you, or does such a line not exist?

Nope. No line exists. He has already paid his dues as far as i'm concerned. Paranormal and such topics would not even exist on mainstream radio if it were not for Art.

That's what I thought, and I think it's the same for many of those who aren't willing to really bash him for this latest round of nonsense. Then there's the rest of us who aren't taking his former days of glory as somehow mitigating his present crappy actions. We're not mad at the old art, we're mad at the new art --- the art that acts even more flaky than the old art. But these two perspectives aren't really ones that can communicate with each other because they're rooted in different principles of perspective.

Its kind of like if you had a loyal dog. The dog, say, once bit a burglar's jugular up and saved you some grief. Art bell bit the jugular of the burglar of many a sleepless night which would otherwise be spent reading the Bible, the Qur'an and/or the Bhagavad Gita. But then say this dog one night up and shit in your toaster oven. Some people wouldn't be mad and thank the dog for doing such a great job at crime-fighting in the past, but others would be royally ticked off at the dog for shitting in a toaster oven, of all places.

And, in art's case, he did shit in the toaster oven a few times before. Does this eclipse his former greatness? No. But does it warrant a scolding? That depends on the toaster oven, I suppose.

That sure is interesting to hear Opie and Anthony agree with the problems Art is having. They always have said they want to leave. I guess Art was just the first to do it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtlygtPXJR8#t=312

They also say he didn't give it enough time, that one month is no time to 'build a base'... Was interesting to hear that when they moved from WNEW they didn't have a fraction of the callers and it took time to get callers.

"He's gotta give it a little time."

I think Long John Nebel was doing this sort of thing before art. And, honestly, if art didn't do it we'd probably have two or three late night hosts already doing it. Another thing to consider is that art had primarily bullshit artists on, and was often in kahootz with their bullshit so while it was entertaining, it was the kind of entertainment portrayed as truth.

I remember the devastation I felt when I found out that Natgeo's documentaries on Mermaids were all fraudulent. And this after I plunked about $200-400 on amazon.com on Mermaid memorabilia and a few old no-longer published tomes of Mermaid lore. A lot of things in my life made sense when the fact of mermaid existence was taken into account, but then it came out it was all a fraud and I was left to drift in the sea without a fish posterior to carry me afloat.

Art =delivering defeat from the jaws of victory. And letting Noory get an upper hand in PR(not Puerto Rico, Public Relations)

Noory sucks, always will...but at least he shows up.
Amen!

90%+ of doing a good job is showing up on time.

I'm sure Art's dad told him this as a kid... maybe he's forgotten, but he doesn't need a job so he can do whatever strikes his fancy, it's for the lisseners' of course.

When Art says "for the lisseners'" it's all good for the sycophants, but let Dave say it and he catches shit forever. On the other hand Art does a good job when hes bothered to show up, Dave... not so much.  :(
