Also, isn't Art a user of this forum? I looked for "ArtBell" on the list of users and couldn't find it.

Just quickly adding my unsolicited opinions...

I haven't had a single issue with the show, and I only use the Sirius app. Not sure why or how so many people were experiencing "issues".  I've also had a radio for the time - but prefer the signal over the stream/app.

I've been SiriusXM subscriber for 6 years - and no other high profile caller driven shows suffered from this alleged problem.   In my opinion, most of the troubles came from a much older listening audience who aren't very tech-savy, struggling to listen online with older computers and bad connections. That - and people looking to start trouble because they were mad Art was now a subscriber based service.

I don't take issue with it, but it is impossible to take issue with the points of one, if one has transmitted those points with accompanying transmission errors.

Rest assured, I await with bated breath for fully proof-read rejoinders to parade past my field of vision. Count on it.

Oh please, God save me from your holier than thou attitude. If you're raison d'etre is picking at the warts of others, then it says a great deal about your (obviously low) level of self-esteem. Apparently you require a great deal of ego stroking and if pointing out the flaws in grammar gives you that, wow, what a sad person you must be.

I'm wondering if the listenership to the show was just lower than expected,
Certainly, the number of "views" on the stories located on ArtBell.com might suggest that. I have seen more hits on a citronella candle.

Art's a damn coward. He was not beating up Coast To Coast.
Instead George, Tommy, other Premiere Executives and even the pompous self righteous John Hogue to some degree, held Art up against the cage and elbowed him into a verbal tap out. Art had enough. Pussy.

Art was impatient and had a skewed sense of foresight. He wanted something from SiriusXM that would go against the core of what SiriusXM is as a service to subscribers. So Art said fuck you to his loyal listeners and soon after deactivated facebook to hide from the criticism. Art expects us to accept that SiriusXM does not know how to stream to potential millions of listeners. What a lame reason to try and build a case around. I have seen no proof of any major streaming issues. I had zero issues. I few hundred people, even a thousand, with issues could be the result of anything and not the fault of SiriusXM at all. All we got is Art's word. That's kind of worthless at the moment. I know people said they had issues and I don't deny that. But did the percentage of people who had streaming connectivity issues be a number that was so drastically different from the average that would have had problems anyways. Some folks probably couldn't find the channel 104.

Art Bell wears the crown of "Serial Retiree" very well.  He also lacks integrity regarding this matter.
SiriusXM has shown to be very cooperative by allowing Art out of the duties and commitments he signed on to do.
I'm sure SiriusXM could have made Art's exit quite the messy, costly, and time consuming one.

As for the alleged 2 year non-compete clause... I would not blame Sirius for sticking to their guns about that. Art fucked them over. He had an agreement.
So If Sirius wants him to not be on the mic again for 2 years then so be it. Eat it Art!

Yup. Thanks for saving me all that typing.

.... Once again, he leaves us all in the lurch, for a somewhat dubious reason.  I know that Art did not like being referred to as a "serial retirerer," but at this point it's sort of looking like he is one:  this latest drama is just another excuse to back out of dealing, and retire.  Not impressed.

Nice assessment, Ravenna.

That is a function of google's link ranking.

Again, six weeks isn't shit to build up hype in ANY media medium.

Fucking less than 30 shows. Weak.

I spelled the word correctly, I stand by my implication, no, I have no realization of that opinion, and I'm not defending Art at all.

Anything else you'd like to manufacture up out of whole cloth and then attribute to me, as though it were my position? I have all fucking day to deal with that, thanks.

lol @ u

I don't come from privilege, I've worked all my life, and neither my race, or any other factor contributed to my success. As for racists such as yourself, who attempt to always put that first and foremost when disagreeing with someone, you rely on others for success and failure and cast blame at people who you perceive got a "leg up" because of race, when it is in fact your own failings that are to blame.

So, you can attach whatever slight and slam you want to me, but I have worked for my success and wasn't born into it or married into it, so your use of the word, much like everything else you say, is incorrect, and is more projection and truth.

But yours is quite appropriate, as in retarded, of low mental capability, just like your arguments and defense of an indefensible situation.

For 6 weeks I had something to fall asleep to. For years I could listen to FineArt stream and be taken back.

I just went through and deleted all my AB files.

Yeah, we've got one incompetent radio host who won't leave and a competent one who won't stay.

This free streaming request/demand from Art to Sirius almost sounds like Art is looking for an excuse to quit again.

That's my gut feeling, sadly.  I hope I'm wrong.

If it came from anyone else, I'd take some offense at that, but considering the source, it's just one more in a list of absolutely incorrect things that you have said to me, and to others. So, you can take your local community college English degree, your low self-esteem, and your projection of your own failure onto others, and shove it up your posterior orifice.

He's not hiding or trying to hide anywhere. Why should he? A bunch of raging interwebbers pissed off isn't going to scare him away.
He's waiting for you guys to take your chill pill first.

Personally, I am done with him. I don't care if he does a stream off his site. I won't listen.

Juan

As I posted at the time, I had a lot of issues with the live stream at first - on my computer, on my Kindle, and on an Internet radio with the Sirius app.  I would have a couple of stops every half hour.  But only on Art's show - on jazz channels, the Grateful Dead channel, Latin music channels - no drop out.  The last couple of weeks were much better, only one or two dropouts per show.  I don't know what the problem was, but it was a problem for me.

Plus, sNoory changing his avatar to a crown is tacky.  I won't be listening to him anymore, either.

Don't contracts mean anything in the broadcasting industry?  How does Bell just walk away from a 3 year contract?  I saw the verbage from the Bell-side about being "a mutual agreement" but is that really the case?  Will Sirius take action for breach of contract?  All the excuses Bell has thrown out are just that.  BS excuses.  I'd think Sirius would want to recover at least some of it's losses, such as building the studio.

Even with Bell's past, I really thought he'd at least honor this contract, especially after all the build-up he provided.  What a let-down.  :(
Bell has always used simple and relatively inexpensive equipment in his home studio.  Those of us who have built similar studios dig his down to earth minimalism.  Sirius spent:

$1800 on an Audioarts Air1/USB board
$5000 on a couple of 360 Systems Instant Replays (cart decks)
$350 on a Beyer headset mic.
$800 or so on a voice processor (possibly a Symetrix as he's previously used)
$3500 on a Zephyr ISDN codec
$$ for a couple laptops, a desk and wiring

It's not necessary to spend a fortune on this stuff, because the high quality result we admire comes from Art Bell himself, not the gadgets.

DanTSX

In can't even listen to classic AB anymore.

It's like watching home movies with your bitch ex wife in them.
