Really?  I've seen this critique posted repeatedly and, try as I might, I can't understand it.  It reminds me of my mom who gets all happy when she has new curtains or a new tablecloth.  Unfathomable.
I've never understood the bumper music thing some have. I could care less about 20 seconds of a song at 20 minute intervals so long as its not obnoxious.

Quote from: pyewacket on January 10, 2016, 11:29:58 AMArt does seem stuck in the past. Maybe it's his comfort zone. I can't blame him, it's tough enough to come back but the real challenge is to tackle unfamiliar guests and new perspectives on the old reliable subject matter. This was most evident to me by his insistence of finding "a cauldron stirring/broom flying witch" with apparently no clue as to the changes in attitude about witches over the years. Not exactly a welcome attitude in many of the pagan (term used as a broad umbrella of diverse groups) communities.
Oh, come on, didn't you get that he was trying to do something funny?  I know lots of funny pagans, but paganism per se ain't funny.  A cauldron-stirring, broom-flying witch -- or just some good faker claiming to be -- would be hilarious, or at least some kind of entertaining.

Robert

Quote from: Stardust Ancestor on January 10, 2016, 01:02:34 PMMaybe I'm in the minority, but I thought Truth or Trash was pretty fun.
It sure was.  Of course there's only so much of that as well as any other kind of material out there, but I'm sure there'd be enough to support it 3-4 times/yr.

I guess it is a reminder of Art and of the unpleasantness of Noory, also a sub-standard substitute, trying to emulate the master and failing.

Heather(redacted) is getting rough treatment for sure. Thats the way it goes in that business and the things she has said in this forum about george in the past are showing her that what goes around comes around. Yes george sucks, but its hard to defend heather against people treating her the same way she treated george if thats how people should treat those they think suck.
just a few examples,

Eeeeeewwwwww.  George.  Never, ever play "Kiss Me" ever again.  Ew.  So gross.  No one wants to get near your Bells Palsy, pizza roll burnt, mush mouth.  *shudder*

I keep hoping for some sort of Noory-induced suicide/death, but it never happens.

The fiddling with trying to take multiple calls on Skype got old but it was OK.  Certainly better than the flat Earth show.  That was more Noory's style.

In a world where the Sec'y of State attributed a lethal attack on an embassy to a video, you have to ask that?

Benghazi was a case of very bad judgement by the administration and it quickly blew up in their faces. Here, you're talking about a massive conspiracy over a 50-year period to cover up the accidental killing of a president by inventing the cover story of a controversial assassination. The first conspiracy to cover up is believable to me, the second isn't.

If you just wanted to see it ridiculed, the chapter on it in Martin Gardner's Fads & Fallacies in the Name of Science is more than sufficient.  But hearing people actually arguing it live was...uh...an experience.  One of those shows that Bell really couldn't enhance but that Noory might've found a way to ruin.  Actually IIRC I sensed at a couple of points that even Art was stunting its potential.

At this point I don't believe you're even human. No shit, the killing of the President wasn't accidental. Look at you, going out on a limb!

I bet she wishes she could plug in Art's time machine and go back and slap herself upside of the head to stop her from posting those gems.

It blew up in their faces because it was stupid.  The idea of the president's being the target of an assassination, however, is plausible.  And who wouldn't like to attribute an event that was actually a fuckup to someone else's malice?  Even imputing the president as the target was an aggrandizement that could be pulled off better with Connally & Kennedy than it was w Cermak & Franklin Roosevelt.

Robert

Ha!  Look, even now there are people who want to make it that FDR was the target when fairly simple analysis says it was Mayor Cermak that the assassin was after.

Yes, I'm aware of how funny a good parody can be on a show. I'm aware of pagan humor and appreciate it. I had suggested that Art/Heather seek out a theatrical student for the gig of the "evil witch" and angered some of the Paglini fans. I never found her the least bit entertaining. A good actor would have been the best choice.

Kennedy was the target of an assassination.  The only serious issue is whether Oswald was alone.  The biggest factor in the universe of JFK theories expanding exponentially is the internet's more recent linking of nuts who feed on each other's fantasies, and the ability of the more clever to turn their paranoia into cash.  I recently heard Robt Ghostwolf describe his theory of FIVE shooters, one being GHW Bush.  And that Oswald worked for the FBI (though he shot a Dallas cop), and that there was a definitely a UFO connection. And he makes a living   deliver this level of drek to some group or show several nights a week.

Sure, the doctored Zapruder frames, that's not a serious issue at all. I can just envision you telling me to get off your lawn already.

Open lines really suck.  When it happens twice in one week, the suckage is unbearable.  Most callers are awaiting the arrival of the carnival to perchance find work outside the fast food industry where third shift urinal cake changer at Taco Bell is the job of choice.

Well, you're clearly in the minority on that one: http://www.gallup.com/poll/165893/majority-believe-jfk-killed-conspiracy.aspx It's OK. Just keep watching the nightly news. They'll give you all the official stories and tell you what to think. It'll be alright...really!  :)

Well, this is really the question in terms of the scenario you cite from this author. Blaming other people for mistakes happens all the time. But in this circumstance, with these stakes, with the parties involved? And to do it successfully for all this time? I just don't see it.

I can't even get past the point of the Secret Service team leader telling his boss that no agent fired his weapon and that the kill shot must have come from a sniper (one place such a coverup would have to start). I mean, I would turn the movie version of this off right there. And this is from someone who was able to watch Oliver Stone's "JFK" all the way to the end.

One point off for cliche use.  Now provide hard independent evidence that's not hearsay and conjecture backed by selective half-truth and the drive to mistrust.  And one of the joys of living in AZ is no f'ing lawn.  Heard anything new about Jim Morrison?

One can't prove a negative, but 50+ years of constant and extensive in-depth indie investigation has turned up nothing of any substance. And there have been no deathbed confessions to any trusted figure (though we know we can't trust anybody; they're all in on it).

But keep up the dream...it's fun to postulate and it keeps the cranks out of real mischief.

I think its all childish, but when i see how she behaved i lose any compassion for her when people goof on her.
