I've always loved flight simulation and am building a physical Garmin or "GARSIM" GNS 530.  This is the real unit from Garmin.

Here's a video of the simulator version the "GARSIM GNS 530" (Just different enough to avoid litigation!)

So far, I've gathered all the parts and after 30 years doing hobby level work with the help of MV I understood the need for a proper soldering station, so I got this:

The next thing I may do before I actually start soldering components to my board is make a jig to hold the board, so I can have it held steady leaving both hands free.

Another big thanks to MV, Curtis & the folks in the chatroom.  This series from the fine folks at PACE & YouTube have increased my knowledge of soldering:

Once I get all the components assembled, I'll show you how to get the hardware to talk to Flight Simulator.

Sorry, I can't tell, are you building a mock up for your flight sim, or are you interfacing a real GNS 530 with the flight sim?   Either way, cool!   Which sim are you using?  The video obviously is using flight simulator, but are you using it or xplane?

I'm currently running FSX, with a TrackIR, Sony HMZ T1, Saitek Yoke, Throttle Quadrant, Radio Panel, Multi Panel and Switch Panel.

Both actually.   It is a mockup but runs on the rwal Garmin software.  www.reality-xp.com

Got it mostly assembled last night.  Need the terminal blocks I think they are called from Mouser.  Should be here late this week.

A better picture.  The first one was upside down.

Where'd you get the pcb and switches?   What does it use for a screen?
