Google now has a 7" tablet computer (will it compete with the Kindle?)

Noticed that Google has a 7" tablet computer out.  At $229 it's about $70 more than the Kindle Fire HD.  Wondered if it's worth that extra $70 to get myself one and sort of thought not.  I'm pretty happy with my Kindle for the most part.

I bought a nexus 7 when the Fire came out... imo the nexus edges the fire out. But downloading a book from amazon takes a bit of work.

Thats the newest Google Nexus 7 model, they have had the previous 7" tablet model out for a couple years and gets high ratings.
The new Nexus 7 is even better with higher resolution 1920x1200 and more features for only $30 more than the old model.
Google's tablets aren't limited like Amazon's Kindle Fires which can only access amazon apps ,etc.
Google tablets can also access all the Google apps and features at Google Play, plus it can also access the amazon stuff too if needed.

Here is an older comparison review between the previous Google Nexus 7 model vs Kindle Fire HD:

But the new Nexus 7 model blows them both away with a much faster quad core CPU and
7″ 1920×1200 IPS display
5MP back camera
2MP front camera
16/32 GB storage
Android 4.3

Up until a week or so ago, the price on the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7" was $199, but they dropped the price $40 when the new Google Nexus 7 came out this past week. Amazon must be trying to entice buyers to go with the older Kindle Fire HD model instead of the new Nexus 7?
The reviews on the new Nexus 7 point out the much sharper easier text reading screen with its higher resolution and the access to non-amazon apps.

Maybe the new Nexus 7 *is* worth spending the extra $70, after all, although not this year for me (just not in the budget).  I will start dropping hints to my family:  after all, that's how I got my Kindle Fire HD last Xmas.

Btw, I heard that Amazon is to have a new version of the Kindle Fire HD out soon.  I believe I heard in time for Xmas.  It's going to be interesting to see what improvements it has.

MV/Liberace!

it would be absolutely bat shit nuts to buy a kindle over the nexus 7.  either version of the nexus 7.  that's how much the kindle blows in comparison.
