Rush Limbaugh

Anyone else used to listen frequently to Rush? I really don't listen anymore. EVERY DAY now it seems like the same-old thing - "collusion", "Mueller", "obstruction". Nothing changes and there is really nothing interesting to keep me listening especially with the god-awful amount of commercials. Might as well shut the radio off 15 minutes before the end of the broadcast as it will be 2 mins of talk and 13 mins of commercials.

Savage is much more interesting, but he treats his callers like sh*t and yells and screams a lot which isn't good for my blood pressure.

I listen to the podcast version of Rush's show. I'd rather take a baseball bat to the groin than suffer through the real-time broadcast version. In the podcast version, after all the commercial bull crap is removed, each hour comes to only about 32 minutes.

As to the topics Rush discusses, I'd say he talks about what's happening in the news, and at this moment in history, it just happens to be the topics you've grown tired of hearing about (and I can't blame you). I think it would be difficult for any credible political show to avoid these topics day to day.

I gave up on Savage a couple years ago. He stresses me out and depresses me. Further, I could see he was looking for ANY reason to turn on Trump, and it seemed to be primarily rooted in his belief that Trump owes him. He's also painfully jealous of Limbaugh.

I haven't missed a Limbaugh broadcast in about 4 years. I've been listening since I was about 11 years old. I can't imagine the world without him.

I always listen to Rush when I'm driving to the store in the morning, or getting gas, etc.  Sometimes it times out just right so that I can hear him start and finish a segment just as I arrive at my destination.  Other times, I hit it just wrong and the commercials start and then end as I finish driving.  It's a crapshoot.

What I like about Limbaugh is he is funny and uses clips from the "media" and various politicians to hoist on their own petard with their comments and news items. And, normally, is not hysterical. Yes, sometimes I like hosts who rant but that also can be tiring. And also while pointing out issues and threats not in an "all is lost," "doomsday is coming," style of some. But still pointing out very important issues with regard to commies, socialists, moral-relativists, radicals, illegals, etc. But funny. I seriously challenge some of my more left-wing, and indeed even far left Hollywood types, to listen and not admit that some of the satire, comments, and songs aren't funny.  He also has enough wealth and exposure that can, sorta, say "fuck it," and get away with parody and comedy more than others and is advised legally how to keep it "entertainment."

Don't get me wrong, I love some others. Some for being "local boy done good," like Alex. Who would've ever thought?! Serious from a local level knowing him? And Rense for still kicking out the slow-jams with decades and his smooth, polite manner of telling us how we are all doomed due to the illegals, diseases, Joose, Ebola, government high-jinxes, 4- 5-who knows what else G, UN, various other conspiracies, and the general decline of morality, culture, politeness, and music.

Just fetch him a few Dominican boys, he'll be back on the top of his game.

What I like about Rush is that you'll know what's happening after listening to him.  Period.  It's the most thorough roundup of news I've seen anywhere ever.  Yeah, you'll also get his opinion, but in delivering his opinion, he'll provide the leftist point of view in order to explain himself.  Regardless of whether you agree with him, you'll know what's happening if you listen to Rush.  It's a giant misconception that a leftist can't listen to Limbaugh without having a seizure.

I'm going to merge this thread with the already existing Limbaugh thread, btw.  Just a heads up so you know where it went.

Word. WTOP just had to register as a Russian foreign agent. And most Leftists I know, on both coasts- the heart-of-the-beast types- are too busy networking, making money off the tit, or trying to figure out new schemes to get sorted in various administrations, lobbyists, and etc, and the Left Coast are too deranged and manic to deal with it, despite lots of time on their hands, since that Hollywood "business" seems ridiculous stuff about meetings, lunches, trips to "write," and driving around in traffic talking with other people about nonsense, often how to remake old movies.

Yup.  How about The Greaseman?

https://youtu.be/OnpcDqoMXvM

The Greaseman is in my personal "top radio" list along with Phil Hendrie, Art Bell, Rush, and Bruce Williams.  I still can listen to old Greaseman and got lots on mp3. Unlike Phil etc he supported his fans making mix-tapes and sharing them.  So lots of his classic shows have been preserved.  What was also so great was all of the euphemisms he used so as not to violate any FCC rules and was the days before political correctness ran amok so he could make fun of lots of things. A master of using the soundboard and coming up with crazy scenarios.

He seems to mention and talk about Apple alot and run interference for that company on his show.

Does anyone know if Apple is paying him on the sly to constantly mention and defend their products? Seems very suspicious to me...

Possibly. But I think he just loves them as many typically do because "no fuss, no muss" and easy. Ignoring the other, obvious, issues. Both technical and symbolic.

he definitely shills for apple whenever possible, but i think albrecht's correct that it's simply because he's a true believer, like most apple people.  while limbaugh is all in with apple products, i think he knows the people at apple would love nothing more than to destroy his credibility by making such an arrangement known to the public.  that's the first of about 30 reasons why i don't think he's getting paid to shill for apple.

ItsOver

I agree.  He just loves the Apple technology.  I'm almost surprised Apple isn't paying Rush NOT to mention them.

I can listen to Rush for 15 minutes or so every 4-5 years.  It is entertaining then the same thing over and over and over and over and over again...

Howard Stern same thing...I don't deny their talent - just all repeat.

Though to be fair, I think that's happening to the UFO/Paranormal subjects.  When Art started, no one was talking about ghosts or UFOs or Rosewell, etc. Now, it has its own television channel and numerous copy-cat radio shows (Wade, Schrader, etc.).

I've heard it all before...

Especially due to his politics and Apple being favorite products of Hollywood, Hipsters, college kids, etc who often have far left views and wacky political opinions.  And Apple executives give tons of money to candidates like Beta, Obama, etc.  Interestingly though Apple is a very successful corporation and use many strategies to limit their taxes so, secretly, are liking Republican policies.

Lung cancer is often not detected until it has spread. Life expectancy for cancers is typically expressed as a 5-year survival rate (the percent of patients who will be alive 5 years after diagnosis). Overall, the 5-year survival rate for lung cancer is lower than other cancers, at 18.6%.

Apparently President Trump is awarding Rush the Medal of Freedom tonight. Good move and well deserved.

Rush will attend tonight's SOTU address, but I think the medal will happen at a later date.

Where is Limbaugh at on U.S. Federal drug policy? I'm not asking for a friend.
