The previous administration would have termed this "workplace violence."

Unfortunately it is hard to track down information on this latest Muslim committing his peace because he, as reported, Mohammed Alshamrani, is such a common name.

https://www.sfgate.com/living/article/Muhammed-top-baby-names-BabyCenter-2019-14878511.php

Just one, of many, Mohammed Alshamrani found in basic interweb search there are so many others....

Also, "interesting" that two recent shooting events at Naval Bases.

Will be interesting to see if Trump rethinks this?  Last I heard commanders could issue "may carry" authorization on base to active duty personnel on a case-by-case basis as long as they met specific criteria.  What I was told by former colleagues was that USAF commanders were disinclined to allow personal carry for fear of liability and accountability issues.

Interesting. Like the Border and 'refugee' policy I, sadly, think Trump will talk a good game but do little on the issue. He already defended the Saudis via tweet.  I guess I would defer to the branches or the base commander. Seems absurd members of the military in good standing wouldn't be allowed to be armed in most cases/places. Cadets, foreign military, those in training etc I would say no. And usual rules like a civilian (trained, background check, no drunk/drugs, no mental problems, etc.)

We used to have "cowering in place" drills in preparation for just such an event.  I was never particularly comforted by the thought the SPs we counted to save us were graduates of a ten week tech school  course and then given a badge and a gun.  Ironically, in my organization we had two individuals, a former USN SEAL and a former USAF PJ, who I would have preferred to have been armed to protect us.

"Why do they hate us?" Even our supposed Muslim allies? Could it have something to do with 1.3 million Iraqis killed under the pretext of WMDs? Or tens of 10 thousands of Afghanis slaughtered by we the 4th Reich?  Or the unknown number of Libyans killed when their prosperous country was bombed to rubble. Or the poor Yemenis dying by US bombs peddled to the Saudis? Or the untold numbers of Syrians listed as collateral damage in the bombings inflicted by the US. Or the Palestinians murdered by the fascist Israelis with american weaponry. Why on earth could they possibly hate us?

“The king said that the Saudi people are greatly angered by the barbaric actions of the shooter and that this person in no way, shape or form represents the feelings of the Saudi people who love the American people so much,” Mr. Trump said at a small-business round table in Washington." Yesiree they love us to death! Trump even passes on the lies of the king.

The shooter was there for "three-year U.S. Air Force Foreign Military Sales training program in August."

Old article so these issues might have been addressed. (Note CFR article!  ;) )
"The program contains no system for tracking which foreign military officers attended IMET."

Yup! the only answer is more guns, and better marksmen! This song is often misinterpreted as about Vietnam. Just ask John Fogerty. The "Jungle" is amerikkka!

Think about it, "200 million guns are loaded" tweren't no 200 million guns in Vietnam, but there were at the time of this song 200 million guns in amerikkka. Now 300 million plus, and far deadlier!

More guns? No.  Let qualified military personnel carry on duty, on base/post/station to protect themselves and others?  Yes.

I don't know about that, UD.  Do we really want armed military personnel?

Though they aren't military many police departments require, or allow if wanted, off-duty LEO's to carry. Because you never know when something might happen and even, personally, they might be targetted.

Well, we’ll, well. Yesterday we were assured that the Saudi was a lone gunman. Today, we awake to find the FBI has arrested six people including three who videoed the entire thing.

Armed military personnel, police with guns.  What next?  Surgeons with scalpels, truckers with trucks?

Pensacola Navy base shooting victim 'saved countless lives,' family says

This young man was a small arms instructor and captain of the USNA competitive rifle team.  Think he could have made a difference had he been armed?

PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The FBI is working under the presumption that a fatal shooting at a Florida naval base carried out by an aviation student from Saudi Arabia was an act of terrorism, the agency said Sunday...

Now the lone gunman workplace violence has 10-people under arrest.  One Saudi “student” is on the loose.

Of course if I were from Afghanistan and found myself unwatched, I’d probably head for the barrio and learn a few words of Spanish rather than go home.

I think we should wring our hands and navel-gaze muttering to ourselves  "why do they hate us?" "What did we do wrong to them?" :How can we ban guns? "How can we accomodate Islam better?" and maybe some candlelight vigils and community outreach to the Islamic community and other communities of marginalized people of color. NASA should, again as Obama did, be tasked that their primary directive is to promote Islam.

I found the last security program forced on me to be a little more interesting that previous versions... It used to be that they would tell you to find a hiding place and stay put. The most recent one has become more realistic. You now run and get out, if you can. Hide if you can't and your last (and least favoured option) is to fight.

They finally have it correct and are in line with what I have always said I would do. You would not find me hiding under a desk if there were a window in the room I occupied.

Out of the 300 or 350 AWOL- how many remained at large? How many missed a couple of days due to finally getting drunk and finding a prostitute?  It's an interesting pie chart- but I would be interested to know how many of those actually tried to stay permanently out of the army.

An excellent question that some have been asking over the years.

It’s been pretty clear to me for awhile now that the FBI is working against the interests of our nation, not for them.
