Saudi kills 3 at NAS Pensacola. Now updates say four.NAS Pensacola is a gun free zone.
Unfortunately it is hard to track down information on this latest Muslim committing his peace because he, as reported, Mohammed Alshamrani, is such a common name. https://www.sfgate.com/living/article/Muhammed-top-baby-names-BabyCenter-2019-14878511.php Just one, of many, Mohammed Alshamrani found in basic interweb search there are so many others.... https://mugshots.com/US-Counties/Illinois/Cook-County-IL/Mohammed-Alshamrani.150647580.html Also, "interesting" that two recent shooting events at Naval Bases.
https://www.military.com/daily-news/2018/03/16/white-house-drops-idea-concealed-carry-guns-bases.htmlWill be interesting to see if Trump rethinks this? Last I heard commanders could issue "may carry" authorization on base to active duty personnel on a case-by-case basis as long as they met specific criteria. What I was told by former colleagues was that USAF commanders were disinclined to allow personal carry for fear of liability and accountability issues.
Interesting. Like the Border and 'refugee' policy I, sadly, think Trump will talk a good game but do little on the issue. He already defended the Saudis via tweet. I guess I would defer to the branches or the base commander. Seems absurd members of the military in good standing wouldn't be allowed to be armed in most cases/places. Cadets, foreign military, those in training etc I would say no. And usual rules like a civilian (trained, background check, no drunk/drugs, no mental problems, etc.)
We used to have "cowering in place" drills in preparation for just such an event. I was never particularly comforted by the thought the SPs we counted to save us were graduates of a ten week tech school course and then given a badge and a gun. Ironically, in my organization we had two individuals, a former USN SEAL and a former USAF PJ, who I would have preferred to have been armed to protect us.
Yup! the only answer is more guns, and better marksmen! This song is often misinterpreted as about Vietnam. Just ask John Fogerty. The "Jungle" is amerikkka!https://youtu.be/EbI0cMyyw_M Think about it, "200 million guns are loaded" tweren't no 200 million guns in Vietnam, but there were at the time of this song 200 million guns in amerikkka. Now 300 million plus, and far deadlier!
...NAS Pensacola is a gun free zone.
More guns? No. Let qualified military personnel carry on duty, on base/post/station to protect themselves and others? Yes.
Though they aren't military many police departments require, or allow if wanted, off-duty LEO's to carry. Because you never know when something might happen and even, personally, they might be targetted.
Armed military personnel, police with guns. What next? Surgeons with scalpels, truckers with trucks?
Updated an hour agoPENSACOLA, Fla. -- The FBI is working under the presumption that a fatal shooting at a Florida naval base carried out by an aviation student from Saudi Arabia was an act of terrorism, the agency said Sunday...https://abc7chicago.com/fbi-says-it-presumes-pensacola-base-shooting-was-act-of-terrorism/5740213/No shit, Sherlock. In other news, the FBI is working under the presumption the sun will rise tomorrow.
I think we should wring our hands and navel-gaze muttering to ourselves "why do they hate us?" "What did we do wrong to them?" :How can we ban guns? "How can we accomodate Islam better?" and maybe some candlelight vigils and community outreach to the Islamic community and other communities of marginalized people of color. NASA should, again as Obama did, be tasked that their primary directive is to promote Islam.
Another program that needs to be evaluated and changed.
Out of the 300 or 350 AWOL- how many remained at large? How many missed a couple of days due to finally getting drunk and finding a prostitute? It's an interesting pie chart- but I would be interested to know how many of those actually tried to stay permanently out of the army.
