And there you have the primary problem with the United States government. How can a group made up of members from a single institution effectively represent people from various backgrounds? It can’t and it doesn’t. Hence no tort reform.  In order for the county to thrive the middle class must thrive. In order for that to happen you need middle class representation. We have none.
I have to laugh when the shyster shysters talk about "conflict of interest."  Having the shysters that benefit from more and more laws IS a conflict of interest.  Put the so-called "common man" into the legislatures, maybe something similar to a jury system.  If you're tried by a jury of your peers, let your peers make the laws the jurys help to enforce.  If you're a shyster, sorry, you can't serve.   Could it be any worse than a clown like this in Congress?

We wouldn't need laws if you idiots knew how to behave. If someone gets killed with nails the nails are being misused. If someone kills a bunch of people with a gun it is being used exactly for its proper purpose. Guns are only there to kill, or to allow fat Americans to maintain an erection - and both are things we can do without.
Good thing you fine folks don't need any laws.

Caller just on KLBJ said the UPS Store near here was making everyone open up their packages, look what's in them, taking pictures, and then repacking them. She claimed they told her it was a new policy for all of Texas- though I cannot verify this and she was going to call them. So it could've been a local area deal or even just local shop? If so hopefully a temporary measure because that it going to cause a lot more hassle, costs, and lines and can you imagine Christmas time? She also was going to call Amazon to clarify (I assume she was some kind of small business or business at home and shipped a lot of stuff.)
Great.  Maybe we can turn UPS Stores into airports, where you'll have to be scanned and possibly stripped searched before you can enter.  How much longer before we're a complete police state, with SWAT-like officers on every corner and in every public place.  Utopia is going to be so much fun, with our overlords "protecting" us.  ::)

Funny to most people, it doesn't make much difference if your loved one is killed by a rental van, machete, knife, pipe bomb, Molotov cocktail, explosives, rape gangs, or simply disfigured with acid. THANK GOD, you're here to remind all those English families that at least their loved ones were not killed by a gun!
Yeah, but SV has The Queen to protect him.  She's waiting for that distress call in the middle of the night so she can rush down in mere seconds to save her loyal subject.  ;D

But the schools will be safe because there are signs declaring them “safe spaces”.

Hah, hah, hah... yeah, right.  Those signs worked really well in Florida, Connecticut, etc.

I'm a big believer in the power of signs.  We should just disarm, shutdown DOD, and put up a sign.  Rest easy at night because The Queen the sign has our back.

Heh, heh, heh.  The Queen or Smith and Wesson...hmmmm, The Queen or Smith and Wesson..., Alex, I believe I will select the .357 S&W Highway Patrolman to protect myself during a home break-in in the middle of the night.  With a Glock 22 back-up.

Our NBC affiliate has 'breaking news' preempting the 4pm "Jeopardy!" due to the Austin Bombings. But screen-scroll says the 4:30pm "Jeopardy!," which is the new one, will air as normal. We will not be bowed by terrorists, nutjobs, and international billionaire meddlers like Soros!

ps: it is also interesting how Austin, a self-proclaimed "sanctuary city and hater of Trump etc, now is clamoring for Federal Police and Agencies help and for Trump to make statements....

Ah, those "glitches," that always seem to happen....It was the first time the city had ever used FEMA’s system to make a warning, Flores said. In the past, the city has used a reverse 911 system in floods to notify residents.

Tens of thousands received ‘glitch’ warnings from Austin police after fourth Austin bombing attack.

The origin of the ‘glitch’ was unclear on Monday.

The city used a reverse 911 warning system to warn residents of Travis Country.

On the good side, Jeopardy! is on and the news broke away from the "emergency coverage" with no new news.

I'm glad to see the locals know their priorities.  There'd probably be a riot if Vanna was preempted.

White has never worn a dress more than once, and she says she tries on at least 50 dresses in a day before picking her outfits for the show. She has 10 minutes in between show tapings to change into the gowns that she has to return after wearing.

“I like wearing the short ones best,” White admitted of her dress preferences. “Just because I don’t trip.”

White is signed up for “Wheel of Fortune” for at least three more years. And her job earns her a reported $4 million a year.

“I’m a businesswoman. You know, I have other investments too, real estate,” said White. “A long time ago, I would buy a house and flip it. But now everybody does that so I don’t do that anymore because there’s no houses out there to buy.”

Yeah, and now they aren't sure if the victim was a Goodwill employee.

8:06 p.m. update: The explosion at a Goodwill store in South Austin was an incendiary device, not a package explosion, Austin police officials said Tuesday.   The incident might not be related to the previous bombings this month, officials said.  “At this time, we have no reason to believe this incident is related to previous package bombs,” Austin police said in a tweet.

Some one donated a Bunsen Burner?

"Goodwill stores are known for being treasure troves of oddities, but even for a town known for its weirdness, Berry said the donation of a human skull was unusual. She has seen people donate prosthetic limbs, loved one’s ashes, Rolex watches and even gold Krugerrand. It is the first time Berry has seen a skull donated, but it is not the first time ever."

I did get your point- just having a bit of fun with you. Yes, guns are weapons, but they can be used in a positive or negative manner depending on the individual using it. If a person is determined to kill others, they will find a way with or without a gun.

Some root causes are criminals, zealots of all types, political extremists, and mentally ill people.

Gun control is a political football. The same people responsible for the women's march organized the students to march. I wonder how many of these same kids, marching for school safety, look the other way, instigate, or participate in bullying at school.

The latest school shooter in Maryland was stopped by an armed security officer. I wonder if David Hogg and co. will make any statements to the press about that.

Unrelated to previous bombings, apparently.
"An employee at a South Austin Goodwill store was injured by “artillery simulators” found inside a box of donations, Austin police said Tuesday night.   Assistant Chief Ely Reyes said the objects were not explosive devices and were not related to previous bomb attacks this month."

https://www.statesman.com/news/local/breaking-officials-responding-possible-new-explosion-goodwill-store-brodie-lane/WbCpRxpJs3jSXWZtTLz8sN/

I'm not sure why officials are saying "artillery simulators" was not "explosive device" but earlier called an "incendiary device?" And there was also an unrelated car fire that also that caused confusion.
