I've been reading the posts lately after Art's death. And some of you people are disgusting hating trolls. You hate on Heather, Noory and everyone on the radio. Why even be here at all? Personally, I think this site should be shut down or moderated by someone who actually cares about Radio and these issues. The stuff that has been said about Art and his family is shocking and sick. I want everyone and each of you to apologize and reinvent yourselves. Hating on a person who is doing a radio show is a shame. It's having no decency and it shows just how insecure and how much you hate yourself. I've had my own monsters but I move up and respect people. You haters hiding behind a computer, talking smack about these people working is absolutely, shameful. I had hope for the human race and for the fans..but just reading this board recently, I can see humanity degrading and going back 10, 000 years. I guess you guys never learned anything from art.

Cute string of non-sequiturs there . . .

Saving Why even be here at all? for the philosophers, let's get a few things straightened out:

You can't excuse Heather's outrages.  Art's death doesn't forgive her the gross and frankly stupid behavior she's splashed all over Twitter and Facebook of late, arbitrarily attacking actual long-term friends of the man like George Knapp, or bohemian peaceniks a la Jeremy Corbell.  Nothing can make sense of those acts.

Given all that's occurred in the last week BellGab's collective reaction, compared to all the things that might have happened, is pretty damn mild.  A bunch of people wondering and speculating about the details surrounding the death of the person for whom their forum is named?  Yeah, that sounds exactly like "shut the website down" material to me.

A bit rich to read how I'm the coward hiding behind a computer, "Jedi."  Or should I say fake RoseGirl?

One final note: in the future, to prevent becoming a troll, get specific in your critiques.  Broad generalizations like "some of you people" and "everyone on the radio" are lazy and, worse, boring.

lol Richard goes full Richard

'this is how WE produced Art's show'

Do we know if he ever met Art in real life?

Elon I think prefers Douglas Adams to Isaac Asimov.

Nye has become like Hoagie, ego maniac who now thinks he's an actual scientist. He didn't start out that way, fame/money went to his head.

The Planetary Society does actual science.

At least Bill tries to do real "outreach" and has helped create a generation of objective contributors to Western civilization.

I'd like to spend a few days in the alternate universe where Richard C. Hoagland is a popular airport novelist.

Hoagie still has his enthusiasm; his juice (“I feel like A 30-year old”), even though he’s 3 months older than Art.

By the way, Hoagie’s 73rd birthday is coming up next Wednesday, April 25th.

I did, very briefly, think how fitting "73" would sound for W6OBB's lifespan.  He one upped me by bagging Friday the 13th instead.

RCH is still entertaining as heck to me.  Though his ego shines, he doesn't completely ignore it (unlike the heavily-in-denial Heather).  I had found a program I love (Bryan Suits KFI) on Saturday nights but I tuned in tonight...  I really like tonight's show.  Yeah, the ego is part of the entertainment.  The creaky chair, the phone ringing at the beginning of the show's early days were all fun.  Yes, I called a few times  ::)

I like his old shows with Art, a lot.

I think his conviction helps.  MV, I thought quite handsomely, acknowledged Hoagie's shrewdness -- he couldn't pull the mileage out of his Martian fumes if he were a shitty salesman.  Fact is he's actually a really good one.

Doxgab. :D

I like to imagine "#docsgab" is the name of some dental office's slack channel, somewhere.

I would have ended with a collage of Art speaking some 'Artisims' like "Turn your radio down," describing Pizza Punch, etc.  Would have ended on a happy note, especially with the proper musical background.

Great idea.

Remember that (I want to say late 1990's) birthday episode where all the station people recorded well-wishes for him?  I got nostalgic for that during the tribute show.

George and company did a bang up job with the memorial show.

Overall, good.  CinemaScore: A-.

I thought the grand finale was something of a misstep, painting a picture of Art & Ramona blissfully reunited in the hereafter . . . then hastily tacking on an acknowledgement of Airyn.  Raises famous questions about who ends up with whom in messy-relationship afterlife scenarios.

Knowing my peculiarly sensitive ear, these things probably bothered only me.

Has there been a funeral?

Evidently, yes.

Whitley mentioned "the viewing," implying a full-body burial, which hit me at an odd angle as memories floated up of Art talking about cremation.

Entirely possible I'm mis-remembering, though.

So just so I'm clear on this. We all agree there was no stalker and Art was having health stuff that caused him to leave the show right? And he didn't want the health stuff public so he covered it up with a stalker story to make up a good story and also cover up what was going on.

As he often did, Art deleted most of the FB posts he made at the time and there were a lot.  One, the shortest lived, was an uncaptioned photograph of a Glock sitting on his desk as if to "warn" the stalker/s.  I thought that'd be kinda overkill if he was inventing it all . . . of course, he might've been thinking, "verisimilitude."

The last I heard, Art's son was having a lot of difficulties. I believe it was here on Bell Gab... What is the most recent news on him? I would think that he would have been mentioned about attending a funeral by Brinkley or that other guy who took over Dreamland.

The question becomes, which son?

Frankly, I'm shocked her name is really Heather Wade. I thought it was a stage name. I would have bet manies on it.

Based on known e-mail addresses it looks plausible that HLW might indeed be a fictitious name.
