Is the non-complete finished yet?

It's in full force, I believe. Art's not competing with anyone.  ;D

Could somebody be giving Heather bad advice on purpose?  Sometimes I feel a little sorry for her.

...Not often.

I wonder if she's finding her own guests, OR if somebody is finding them FOR her?

Honestly, this guest is all over the place. I wonder if Heather is considering pulling the plug on her?

Next time I call in about giants, it'll probably be about Aztec gumianymts, been studying more on Asztc legend since I got into Lucha Underground.

Are you interested in the Paracas elongated skulls; possibly Nephilim?

Did she just say she was abducted by aliens?

The Neps probably bonked earth women as well.

Wouldn't doubt it. They probably bonked a lot of different things.

Are you sure it's not a Warcraft 3 reference?

I do remember Harry Potter using the cloak of invisibility in the films.

So Far we have:

backyard still
redhair
Racism
Brad Pitt
Noory Dating Site

These things will help Juan when he calls in.

Maybe, he can set Heather straight on the Nephilim too. She thinks they mated with human women, when actually they were the offspring of the fallen angels and women.

Good Catch!

Thanks brig! I couldn't resist.  ;D

The guest just referred to the cloak of invisibility. I knew she was one of Heather's friends from Hogwarts.
#102
When the guest can't get her hands on gin, do you think she drinks Benedryl or shoe polish?
#103
Is this one of the djinn she's referring to?
#104
This guest reminds me of Priscilla Vogelbacher; Heather's previous guest. She was the devil girl; sorry, occultist. I wonder if this guest goes to the sacred texts website too? She seems to be all over the place with her theory.
#105
No Heather. The Nephilim are the offspring of the fallen angels and earthly women.

I did!  I did!

24 minutes.

That's it? It seemed like an eternity.

Has anyone actually timed this literary marathon?

Too long?

Right?

Heather is reciting the never ending story.

How long is this ah-wee-ja story going to go on for?

Now, if you woke up tomorrow, looked in the mirror and realized that through some curse you were suddenly Heather, that there would be a misfortune.

Agreed!

What is Heather's misfortune, that BGers don't like her any more, that she does a lousy show, that maybe she's a bad person? She's employed, she's still sitting in Art's chair, people listen every night. Not exactly a fate worse than death.

Her misfortune is that her ambition, blinded her to the reality of a no win situation. She thought she had attained her dream job. Only the prize was tainted/damaged goods. Subscriptions, sponsors, affiliates all jumped ship. There was no way someone, with little or no experience/ability could stem the tide. Even though Art started the mess, it was all on her now.

If she left MITD now, do you think she could get a job in a major radio show? Do you think C2C would hire her? Probably not. Her radio aspirations would be finished. Is that enough of a misfortune for you?

Yeah you can call it guile but it's essentially a passive art, requiring a great deal of cooperation from your target.  She did engineer putting herself in Art's way, but I'm sure many of his more rabid fans would have done the same given half a chance.  MV offered repeatedly to mow Art's lawn.

I can't really fault either of them.  Art's irreparably tarnished his legacy and came off looking foolish, but it was his to tarnish.  I don't begrudge him a little fun in his dotage.  And I'm sure Heather feels the whole thing just fell in her lap.

It's the poetic justice of the whole thing that makes me smile:  Art, who's spent a lifetime dodging domestic entanglements, is now firmly locked down in his compound raising his kid, yelling at clouds on Facebook, wings forever clipped as you say.  And Heather has turned into a pale shadow of her nemesis, her dream turned to ashes.  Can't get more poetic than that.  If this was one of those French tragedies of the 18th century, it'd be time for the great chaconne and the moralizing chorus.

There was definitely elements of poetic justice here. Both, Art and Heather were the authors of their own misfortune. They can't blame anyone else. Call it karma, or what have you, but eventually you reap what you sow.

Imagining that she adopted the same persona with Art that she displayed here isn't too much of a conjecture.  I don't recall hearing anything from her that exceeded the kind of gentle flirtation you see at work from a certain type of woman who indicates, by various means, that she is comfortable with that kind of attention.  Painting her as a femme fatale is probably a stretch.

That is not to dismiss the idea of seduction -- mostly that happens between our ears.

I put the onus more on Art than her. His judgment was impaired due to her attention. She was merely playing her part in this twisted saga. Many a man has had his wings clipped by the fairer sex. Caesar, Napoleon, all succumbed to the guile of a woman.

Though; as a femme fatale, she doesn't strike me as particularly sophisticated.

She played many of the horny men in this community like a harp, right down to the Diana Rigg avatar.

I don't necessarily disparage it either, she parlayed it into a gig of her dreams. That takes some ruthlessness, but it also takes cunning.

It's only conjecture on my part. It seemed that there was a situation where a man (Art) in the twilight of his life, was smitten with the idea that a younger woman would pay him so much attention/adulation. This is not to suggest any improper relationship between the two of them. Remember, rock stars love groupies.

I don't believe so; someone may have misread a post.

The risk of melting Heather's brain or showing that I'm barely coherent on the air at times?

What brain? ;) :))

I think lots of people suggested she not post here, including me when my opinion was solicited early on.  Having said that, I think it would have been smart of her to come back and roll with things here after she settled into the show.  To me, given her history here on BellGab, she looked weak scurrying away like that and now looks dishonest by pretending the culture of this place is beneath her.

I haven't mentioned this, but at this point, who gives a shit.  The last time I spoke with Heather, she Skyped to accuse me of scheming behind the scenes to prank call her show or something.  If I recall, the specific allegation was "with a soundboard."  "Some people" told her I was doing it.  Mm hmm.  I couldn't believe what I was hearing.  And she called with this about five minutes after some savage crashed into the back of my car.  My daughters were in the back seat (ages -1 and 3).  Yeah, bad timing for that call, and when I told her what happened and that I was awaiting the police, she brushed it off and plowed on with the intended purpose of her call.  I guess that's when I decided to step away from her whole scene.  A few weeks or months later, Art sent me some cryptic message asking if I knew anything about something someone was doing somewhere somehow to Heather's show (yes, it was almost that non-specific).  Like I said, weak.

This post explains a lot to me. I've been wondering why all this time; after what seems alot of disrespect levelled towards you, and BellGab, from Heather, and the MITD brain trust. You remained virtually silent in the matter. You never uttered an outwardly negative word towards them. She distanced herself from BellGab. Didn't she get irritated when someone called in and called her Redacted? She never mentioned BellGab on air. You were even sympathetic towards her when many others ridiculed her broadcast skills/lack of them.

I thought it may have been purely a "business" decision to keep the peace with Art, Heather, and Keith. Obviously, you'd want Art to keep posting here; it is/was a forum, dedicated to him. Though, now it seems the direction of the forum is moving beyond this.

I'll conclude by saying you very gracious towards them; a lot more than they deserved.

It really makes me wonder how much Art coached Heather after she took over.  He seemed willing enough to exploit prank calls for their entertainment value.

Your story of the phone call is sad.  How a genuinely fun chick from the Gabcast can turn into an insecure wet blanket overnight is a mystery.  I guess I know people at work who are probably the greatest moms and dads to their kids but turn into little Napoleons when they think their livelihoods are at stake.

It just goes to show, that you really don't know who a person is. When they go home, and shut the door behind them, the real person comes out.
