I thought it awful when 'titor' said he was in ancient China and she didn't follow up with any good questions that we would like to know. He claimed he was in ANCIENT CHINA AND MET THE EMPEROR!  and she just went to the next question on the card.

Strange? Considering she said she's half Chinese, and her dad is in the Chinese Mob.  :o

On a scale from 1-10 I'd give her a 3.  She shows up for work every day after all.
I'm sorry, but I can't even give her a 5, meaning she would be as interesting to listen to as the average person I meet on the street every day.

I'd say that's a very fair assessment.

I understand that.  What I meant was, how bad is she at radio on-mic compared to the avg. person pulled off the street?  Or, say, the avg. person who might click on a link saying, "Want your own radio show?  Click here."

Robert; sorry to ask this, but do you even listen to MITD? If you do; assuming you're not hearing impaired in anyway, then it's self explanatory.

Yes, because I want to get an idea of how serious a problem you think Ms. Wade's lack of talent is.

Well, her lack of talent will affect the number of people who'll listen to the show. This in turn affects the number of people who will subscribe to the show. This in turn affects the number of radio stations who will carry the show. This in turn affects the number of sponsors who will advertise on the show. In the end this affects the dollars being brought in. The bottom line is just that, the bottom line. So, I'd say her lack of talent is very serious problem.

NONE of it matters if you're an over night sensation.

That doesn't apply to Heather.  ;D

Jackstar is very sensitive about ellipses. If I were you I would only use three.

I'll try and remember to mind my grammar in the future...   ;) ;D

She entered far earlier than that. And that's not what an ellipsis looks like.

........... Just my way of letting the reader fill in their own blanks.

Playing what-if, just for fun:  Heather's appearance as a co-host on the test show largely got a pass from here.  If I remember right, the backlash to which Art responded by changing her role happened on Facebook.  There were a few detractors here, but they were overwhelmed by supporters.

The celebratory pre-show for Art's debut was taken up by a sympathetic interview with Heather where she adopted extravagant poses of distress at all the haters.  Kind of a wet blanket on what should have been a festive occasion.

Art was hugely involved with this forum in those days.  You could tell he gauged many of his moves based on the responses here.  Are we, collectively, responsible for what happened?  Did we enable her vaulting over all potential qualified co-hosts back in those days when Art's brand had yet to be sullied?

I don't think Art and the rest of the MITD brain trust care about what we say/want. I'm sure they read all the criticism; constructive or not, and do whatever they want.

No other self respecting radio host wanted the seat at MITD. It was damaged goods by then, and no one would touch it. Enter Heather..........

I agree with your conclusion, but would point out that all but your last point are the products of effort rather than talent -- years and years of it.

Agreed! Even those with natural talent, must be prepared to work very hard to develop that talent.

the names "George" and "Heather" are interchangeable in the rant above

Have to agree with you, but I think Heather is worse.

That may well be, but for perspective I'd like your estimate of the percentage of people who are cut out to do a radio show.  Are we talking about a rare talent, an uncommon deficiency, or what?  Granted that few people have their talent tested at this, so there's going to be a lot of guesswork in any such estimate.Yes.

Robert, I have no idea of the percentage of people who are cut out to do a radio show. Is that really important? Do you have any idea of the percentage? If you do, please enlighten me; I'm always up for learning something new.

I referred to natural talent. When a radio host has it, you can tell. They are well read, prepared to talk about the subject, literate, have good command of the English language, and are totally at ease/comfortable behind the mic. They speak as if they're talking to one person. An example, look at Art, then compare that to Heather. Pretty clear I think.

Yeah maaan, those mean-spirited attacks that Heather used to direct at Jorch all the time, before she acquired (however dubiously) her present hosting duties, were wrong! Mean! Wrong!

This just adds to the hypocrisy, and lack of honesty from Heather and the MITD brain trust. They're continuously shooting themselves in the foot.

I have no problem with the good spirited banter that, indeed, points out some areas that could use some improvement, on both sides.

I'm talking about the mean-spirited innuendo, engendered to cause emotional angst or pain.  This is unnecessary.

Constructive suggestion; cool.  Mean spirited attacks; not so much.

I appreciate and respect your opinion and how you presented it.  Thank you, god of thunder.

Hi Starr! You should post in this thread more often; your positive attitude/energy is needed. I remember; before I became a member of this forum, I listened to a lot of the old gabcast podcasts. I heard you host a couple of them; you seem like a real nice lady. Don't get discouraged by any mean spirited posts, push past them, and contribute some positive ones.  :)

I rarely come in to this thread anymore because of it's vitriolic nature.  When I do peek in, it's in hopes the grown-ups have come back and have finally taken over.

I think the real vitriol in this thread was spent awhile ago. Myself, I come here if there's a guest I'm interested in, and mainly for the camaraderie with other bellgabbers. I really don't have anything personal against Heather; don't know her, and don't care about her past. I, like a lot of other people here, don't think she is cut out to do a radio show. Listen to her, and it's obvious. Yes, we make jokes about this, but how can we not point these things out? No amount of suggestions to her is ever going to make her a better host; she just doesn't have the natural talent to begin with. I'm not trying to be mean here, just telling it like I see/hear it.

The real vitriol here is brought upon Heather, and the MITD brain trust by themselves. They have been less than honest/transparent with everyone from the start of this MITD debacle. Things like the "fake" African likes don't help their cause.

So don't kill the messengers, turn your attention to the real authors of this disaster.

Thanks Luca! I listened to your testcast last night; great, you're obviously very comfortable behind the mike.  :)

Can you record it on your mobile, then upload to vocarro? That's what I did while I had the background music playing on my kindle.

Vocarro doesn't seem to like iPhone or iPad very much. It won't allow for online recording.

Who on earth changes their political views in order to please their boss?  Only a real suck-up would.  I doubt Art much cares what her beliefs are - this one is on her.

It's interesting to note she's done this though.  Isn't she also the one who called the police about the 'stalker'?  Art didn't call in a false police report, and his producer didn't either - she simply heard something Art said and was 'concerned'.  So no false report, yet the fact that a report was filed is used as evidence there really was a stalker/shooter.  Well played.

I wouldn't trust anything either one of them says, that's all.

It seems through the whole MITD debacle, Art et al, haven't shown much honesty/transparency to the listeners/audience/subscribers. Though, they continue to bilk subscribers for the $5/month; sorry, $4.95/month.  ;D

It's much more than that. You can imprint a memory in someones mind that never happened quite easily, and the person will swear it is a real memory. And apparently to the report I was listening to (I think this is a real memory) the people they tested it on were academics that I suppose were pretty intelligent.

Imprinting a memory in someone; hypnotize/brainwash, I get that. That our perception or memory of an event etc over time changes is a natural occurrence. IMHO

Neither do most people.  The images of his release, not to mention his service as president, were hard to miss.  I think when he died some people thought he'd died already, maybe a few years before.  Then, as more people glommed on to the idea, the early death was backdated considerably and sensationalized.

An interesting look into how these things work.

Remember Abe Vigoda? Fish from Barney Miller, and Tessio from the Godfather. A lot of people thought he died years before he actually did. Though, I think a lot of that was due to the fact that he wasn't seen in any tv shows or movies for quite awhile.
#295
Don't you think this whole Mandela Effect is much ado about nothing?
#296
I don't remember Nelson Mandela dying in prison.
#297
Couldn't it be that over time, people don't exactly remember things the way they once were. A song you heard as a younger person, a movie/tv show, begin to fade a bit from memory as time goes by. This is a normal occurance, isn't it?

i doubt art has the first clue what's going on and couldn't care less.  of course i could be wrong, but that's what i suspect to be the case.

You could be right, it was only an assumption on my part. Though, I believe Art is still involved in MITD; in some capacity. Another assumption on my part.

Yep, she runs the fake likes scam on her public page. I don't see the motivation for this, given that MITD hasn't seen any growth since she took over and has consistently fallen month to month even before Art retired.

I assume that Art and Keith are aware of this; this is another scheme hatched by the MITD "brain trust".  ::)
