Was there even a show tonight? I get there was something on, but it played for about five minutes then stopped dead. I couldn't even get the stream at all, on any device from home nor the shop.

I’m glad I could offer some food for thought on the subject â€" as you can probably tell I love digging into stuff like this: it’s interesting and you can learn as much from studying a false scientific assertion as you can from studying an established one, because both cases always leads back to the experimental evidence and the mathematics.  And sometimes the hoaxes lead to unexpected insights about unrelated matters, like black program security operations in this case.

There’s footage of the flight demonstrations that Lazar took Leer and Knapp et al. out there to see â€" I remember watching it; it must still be around somewhere online.  I don’t think that was a lie at all, per se.  In fact it supports my interpretation that Lazar is a covert operative working under a cover story:  I think his story was scripted for him, and that Lazar coordinated with his handlers to provide those flight demonstrations to get Knapp and others interested in popularizing the story.  Notice that those craft didn’t exhibit any of the radical flight characteristics that defy conventional aerospace technology â€" the trademark hairpin moves and sudden leaps between low and high velocity.  They moved like conventional aircraft; perhaps a drone with a bright light source perhaps â€" you can see the effect of inertia on the slowly arcing turns, and in the rising and descent trajectories:  this was not a “inertia-defying” craft, as so many have witnessed elsewhere.  Notice that the bright object in the footage also doesn’t wobble around like he described.  He also never said anything about the ufo glowing when it operated, so why does the craft in the footage glow?  Because it was a staged farce, imo.

It’s difficult to envision gravitational wave distortion with words alone, because it’s quadrupole (and octupole etc) radiation, which is nothing like the longitudinal waves or transverse waves that we’re all familiar with â€" check out the nice animations they have here, and you’ll see how they oscillate as they move along an axis perpendicular to your computer screen:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravitational_wave

And you must be thinking of the dreaded “EM Drive” â€" that naughty little microwave cavity that keeps fooling experimentalists into thinking that there’s some kind of new motive principle at work.  The reckless leaps of logic I’ve seen in the popular press about that thing are so wildly out of control that it beggars the imagination.

Honestly, I’d be thrilled if it did any of the stuff that people claim about it.  Nothing would make me happier than to suddenly discover that one or more of the sacrosanct pillars of modern physics had been reduced to ashes overnight.

But preliminary tests demonstrating outrageously tiny forces are notorious for turning out to be experimental error, and there’s no reason to suspect that this will turn out to be any different.  I don’t know if you remember Dr. Martin Tajmar’s claims of detecting a “gigantic” gravitational frame dragging effect in a cryonic chamber using a rotating superconductor a few years ago, but in that case we had a very bright and highly qualified physicist working with some great equipment to test a theoretically viable concept and employing a rigorous range of controls, publishing peer-reviewed papers about the effect that had heads turning around the world…and it turned out to be eddy currents in the surrounding vapor…oops.

Robert Shawyer’s “EM Drive” is an asymmetrical microwave oven that supposedly violates the conservation of momentum (and maybe energy too, idk) by exploiting a new theoretical effect that’s never been described mathematically but allegedly has something to do with either a vacuum fluctuation reaction force (which has somehow heretofore eluded detection and defies known physics) and/or a quantum gravity effect dozens of orders of magnitude stronger than general relativity defines at that energy, and doing something that GR can’t explain.  Or it’s just a thermal effect from heating an asymmetrical metal box to several hundred degrees using copper power cables that tend to distort at high currents.

I just think a little prudence is called for â€" let’s at least see a peer-reviewed paper or two before we start throwing out the most rigorously proven conservation laws known to physical science.

Thanks for shitting up one of the more consistently interesting threads with conspiracy theory bullshit. Are you one of Jackstar's alts?

^ This is what happens when you don't actually read anything.  Here's one relevant excerpt from the Greenwald link you didn't bother to read:
https://theintercept.com/2014/02/24/jtrig-manipulation/

It doesn't get much clearer than that, and Greenwald isn't a conspiracy theorist, he's a reputable mainstream journalist and author, and the work he did on this subject won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Greenwald

Yeah, I've quite literally read most of the stuff you've posted in one form or another. But as for evidence of a grand UFO coverup? Your stuff sucks. I mean, you listed one article by Glenn Greenwald about spooks "infiltrating" the Internet (lol, what is there to infiltrate? Find a free wifi, boot up Tor to set the mood, aloha, I'm a spook too). What does have to do with UFOs? It's one thing to follow an evidence trail and draw a conclusion, it's whole other to make a conclusion and juxtapose evidence to solidify your conclusion.

Yeah, Greenwald is respectable, not a fan but he's legit for his Snowden work; not my point nor did I call him a conspiracy theorist (how did you read that?). I was vaguely calling you a conspiracy theorist.

Not knocking you, but I honestly think all the honest, diligent research into UFOs was done decades ago. All that's left now is a barren desert of speculation and demands for disclosure, and that's been the status quo for literally decades now, too. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Have you studied these subjects?  Are you aware of the long history of leaked government documents about ufos and the official policies of disinformation and denial to cover up the whole subject - which btw was quickly classified in the late 1940s?  Have you ever read any of Richard Dolan’s books or heard any of his lectures?   Are you aware of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) and “The Aviary,” and Special Agent Richard Doty’s roles in the MJ-12 document debacle and gas lighting Paul Bennewitz?  Do you know that the U.S. and the UK and other world leaders are using sophisticated counterintelligence and psyops agencies today, and that they’re active in everything from the mainstream media to online social media - even infiltrating chat rooms to influence casual discourse?

[/snip bunch of clickbait that isn't even relevent...]

Not my discussion, but it's not the evidence as such a lot of people take issue with (lol, what is it with conspiracy theorists thinking everyone but them is oblivious to an underhanded government? You watch your paycheck drain away each pay period you see this first hand), but the conclusions reached.

I love Star Trek, and Star Wars of course, but Battlestar is my fave by far.

Original or remake? I like them both, but I really like the original for its campiness and it doesn't take itself as seriously as the modern one. Paradoxically, I like the newer one for the opposite reasons; that and it was just good scifi!

I think they should get Connie Willis to replace Heather.  I suspect there would be a lot more shows about drugs and Connie would have to take an extra munchie break every once in a while.  She's also heavy into the paranormal so it would be a perfect fit.  The show would be lots more fun, that's for sure.

Heather's mentality and mental acuity as it is, it's apparent to me she hits the bong enough herself as it is. Not knocking her, just a commonality among most habitual pot users.

Yep.  http://othersideofmidnight.com/wedthu-feb-11-joe-buchman/

Unless there are technical issues at the last second (which has happened the last two times he has tried to have me on).

He meanders a lot into metaphysics. Don't let him lead you like that.  I don't mean to tell you how to do your own interview, but it seems like the worst shows are the ones where he shoehorns his 19.5 torsion shit into your thought and it just all flushes from there.

Though there was the one show where they were talking about the Middle East or some such and the conversation got so ridiculous the guest just started hitting the bong. Over, and over, and over again. That was some the weirdest radio I'd heard in a long time.

it isnt you we are irked with as much as Hoagie and his steering of the show lately...we've been saturated with both disclosure and politics as of late lol

Yep, this group will bitch about the direction of the sun rising if it can be juxtaposed to make fun of the Hoag's technological prowess. The guests really don't have much power over that. Still, makes for a fun show sometimes.

Or maybe it's a fixed-term contract.  I wonder if the trolling percentages will drop sharply after 3 or 6 months.

It's just difficult to imagine why anyone would spend all day every day blowing their nose on a website about a show they've never listened to.  I mean, I'm pretty cynical, but even a cynic knows that people only do things that bring them something...and I don't see any kind of upside to belching out hundreds of posts per week unless there's some kind of return/investment ratio involved.

Grown men spend their entire days wailing on about the lack of  feminism and mysogyny in something as equally useless as gaming. Likewise, there are people who literally go hundreds of thousands of dollars into debt for useless degrees that are nothing but thin-skinned evaluations of society. The internet also allows everyone a voice. Sorry, I just don't find it incredible there are people like you describe. Hell, if anything, e ones that get paid to do it are the lucky ones in that miserable group.

Wasn't that one where he switched roles with his producer for open lines? 25 minutes of this then they said "screw it, replay".

Turban oil, good one.

Although, if you haven't started a turbine engine in awhile and a bird happened to make a nest in the tail cone, you would see some ignition and flaming debris shooting out the back.  But that doesn't happen in flight, naturally.

Scares the crap out of you, heard some True Stories about that.  Another reason why the pre-flight inspection is important, not just to prevent your bird from 'falling out of the air,' but to keep you from changing your underwear.

Were you a helicopter mechanic?

I've never heard of Klei before but after the ninja game I'll be hungry for more.
I loved the original XCOM from back in the day, have not yet had the chance to play the latest one though it is installed on one of the machines in this house. What's TBS stand for anyway?

Sorry, it means "turn-based strategy". Honestly, I couldn't get into the new XCOM to finish it; though that it worked well as a console game was neat. The original Microprose game can be played on modern machines now through OpenXCOM. http://openxcom.org

Sort  of what I thought, if you liked the original, you'd probably like Invisible Inc.   ;D
Kind of retro-themed, 50's scifi (not obnoxious, though) espionage strategy where every map, every campaign you start goes differently.

Hey man, just a thought. Have you ever considered interviewing Jocko Johnson from here? He's a retired NYC cop and just scratching the surface he was completely interesting tonight.

I figure you could get into all manner of things including a retired NYC police officer's experience and perspective on things like marijuana legalization, police corruption, black lives matter and all the things facing our society right now. I think you like to stray towards more name guests but he would be perfect for a gritty real world show. Especially since you're both NYC guys, your frustration with the deterioration of NYC and your recent mugging. Plus the dude has like the most bad ass voice I've heard on here.

Just a thought, not sure if it'd be up your alley but I know you like to stray into crime subjects occasionally.

Oh yeah, those kinds of interviews he did were great. I really liked the one he did with Bob Wittman, one of the only full-time specialists the FBI had in art theft. The guy's biography (Priceless) was amusing, too. At one point he was being indicted for manslaughter charges while at the same time recovering priceless art. "Yeah, I was sad for my friend's death and that I might be going to jail, but I could concentrate on collecting Cal Ripken baseball cards and oh yeah, I recovered a Chinese crystal sphere last week." It was fun to read.

You're conflating addiction with medicine, because you're an idiot.

There's not much conflation, 75% of "medicinal" tokers are recreational smokers who still think they have to hide their bags of potpourri from their dads.

So far I have played New Super Mario Bros and Super Mario 3D Land, which came with the system. Both of them are 10/10 and gave the Nintendo quality I expected. I understand that A Link Between Worlds is also a must-play for this system, so I think that's going to be the one I try next. I haven't had a handheld around in many years, it's nice to be able to take a break from work, pop it open for a level or two and then go back. Takes no time to wake up from sleep when the screen is opened, so it's like having a game always on the go.

Also, I recently found this gem on steam and have had fun with it:

https://youtu.be/rI_r-g4VnsY
Haven't finished it yet but I'm hoping to have a bit more time with it soon. The stealth gameplay is great, reminds me of a cross between Metal Gear and Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven.
Whoa! Thanks for the heads up. Never heard of such a thing before.

Klei makes some great games. If you like TBS/tactical games, Invisible Inc. is another one by them I recommend. The procedurally-generated maps brought a lot of that tense, "what the hell's on the other side of that door" moments the original X-COM had.

I don't feel right about selling myself. I am just a regular guy. When I changed after work to go home, I hung my Superman cape up and was like everyone else. Well maybe not...we were on duty 24/7.
Others would have to propose this thing to whoever would be interested.

Man, Nancy Birnes or Bateman would be awesome if you wanted to do an interview. There's a few people around here (me, too) who love to hear about people like you.

They're just depressed.  After seeing Heather's picture, most of them just realized that she's way out of their league and not inclined to date someone who lives in mom's basement and believes a good time is picking up a date in their Pacer and heading for fine dining at Red Lobster.

I have no friggin clue what league Sarah Connor even plays in.

I really hope Heather is not just being strung along, and that Art seriously thinks he might return to MITD, even if not full-time, after the stalker situation resolves.  For if he knows he won't, deep down, and is just saying he might to string his fans along, and keep them listening to MITD in hope of his return, he's not a nice person.  I find it hard to believe he would so coldly use Heather in that way.

Just my impression, and I don't think she's being used, but her position in the scheme of things amount to the same thing.

Appreciate the response, but I'm not really interested in the Heather aspect of the drama, as in whether she should/should not have gotten the show, she's terrible etc.  From my perspective she would not be there if Art had not quit, so did anything you heard tonight change what you believe relative to Art quitting?

Sorry. Yeah, it changed a bit. He mentioned maybe moving out of the State's and doing private school for Asia (if I heard correctly), to me it lends some credence he's genuinely concerned with his security situation.

I didn't listen, but I am curious if/how the show changed your opinion on the whole "Art quit MITD because of a terror stalker who he felt endangered him and his family" drama.  Not judging, nor do I care, if you believe or disbelieve the story, just interested in if anything you heard tonight changed what/how you believe.

He said moving out of country might be a option. I Believe Heather is still being strung along, but Art did mention Heather should make the show her own, not keep the seat warm.

Wow, I am amazed, I will definitely listen to tonight.  Connections was probably my favorite television show as a kid, awesome how they would start out with something mundane like the invention of the stirrup for the horse-saddle and trace that innovation to the invention of the microwave oven, with several steps in between.  I hope Hoaxland attempts to one-up that type of technological progression with his 19.5>torsion-field>accutron>glass-moon-domes>Face-on-Mars kookological progression of his own devising.

I may even stay sober.  I am Not Sure if this is a joke or not...

I know, it's been a busy day of recording for me. I don't usually grab two shows in a day, let alone keep most of the OSOM shows I do grab.
