They way things are going in the Philippines right now, I suspect that Art is standing atop his apartment complex redoubt with a rifle, watching for roving mobs of crazies.

Ok, well, I'll save my vitriol and ire over snake oil and rampant credulousness for more appropriate threads. I'll try to keep up with Art, Ian, and Good George. I'll only listen to bad George when there's a guest or topic I like.

Carry on with the re-introductions!

Well, I'll do it, but I won't like it. Seriously. In the last couple months I've had a reinvigoration in my skepticism and secularism. I may just run around screaming "Bullshit!". Most of the time I can listen to Coast to Coast for the same reason I enjoy trailer park fires, but I honestly can't stomach Noory's intellectually dishonest 'alternative medicine' shows anymore.

Goddamit, does this mean I have to start listening to Coast to Coast, again?

PS, great to have the site back up, Mike.

Actually, I think it has more to do with Quayle's being a raving lunatic who breakdowns whenever someone holds up a mirror to his rampant asshattery:

I just have to shake my head when I think about all the credulous, superstitious shut-ins that listen to C2C religiously and take Quail's (and people like him) wing-nut stories as the gospel truth.

Does anybody know the date of the show where Ian manned up and kicked Quail off the air?

I'm usually a few days behind in listening to C2C, so I just finished the Steve Quail interview.  Yikes, that guy is a raving loony. His rambling bullshit isn't even internally consistent with itself. This is why I like Jim Marrs: he's totally hogwash, but at least the "in-universe" storyline of his hogwash interrelates well.

Fortunately, I store everything on an external HD, so I didn't have any issues.

Radio and Podcasts / Re: George Noory's Belief System
August 05, 2009, 06:30:08 PM
I often get the since that George is a thinly veiled Christian fundamentalist/apocalypsist with a bizarre New Age streak. IE, he's as incredibly credulous as the masses of ignorant listeners that love him. Ever notice how he can't just say he's just from Lebanese descent, but "Christian Lebanese" descent? He's so up-the-butt right winger that he can't even fully embrace his non-Anglo heritage. He keeps up the "I'm open to all views and opinions" smokescreen to capture as wide a demographic as possible, but he's really there for the "Jesus is comin' in a Star Destroyer to burn all them heathen furr-inners like Obama!" crowd.

I have a lot respect for Ian. As a cycnical, gun-toting socially progressive atheist he's one Christian I wouldn't mind inviting over for a barbecue. Then again, I also believe that he's a closet agnostic.

I have fixed the overheating issue, though. I took apart my laptop's fan and heatsink and sprayed them out thoroughly with canned air. All I got to say is that I got to quit smoking around my laptop.

The only problem I have now is that apparently Motorola Phone Tools won't install on Windows 7, so I can't use my phone as a modem. That kinda blows.

Noory's skull is 3 and a half inches thick. He didn't have to wear a helmet during foot ball practice as a kid and he's legally exempt from wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle.

The only trouble I've had with W7 so far is that it's randomly shut down my laptop twice. That might just be some timer I don't know about and need to disable, though. I also get the occasionally screen freeze, but I think a good defrag might be in order. I'm one of those people that believes defragging fixes everything.

Installed it on my laptop last night. Not bad, relatively painless. My laptop is running a lot smoother (but then, that's going to happen with any fresh OS install). My only mistake was to forget to copy my Firefox bookmarks. My RAM usage is down, too.

Skimming the last few pages and seeing how much vitriol all this 'channeling' has caused (and wantonly credulous belief in the 'Spiritual Realm' in general) has only caused me to lean more towards Paul Eno's multi-verse parasite theory.

"only call Art on a rotary phone in an open field. Rotary phones in open fields, only"

Art sure did hate cell phones back in the day...

I really enjoy Paul Eno (www.behindtheparanormal.com) and am in the process of listening to his podcasts. He likes to tell the same seven stories, but he's a pretty astute guy with some actual experience. I don't agree with all of his conclusions, but I do like his theories concerning 'parasites'. And his son, Ben, is good comic relief.

Unfortunately, the podcasts of his New England based show are all effed up.

One of the greats in the field of weirdness has passed. John Keel, author of The Mothman Prophecies is dead at 79.

I'm rather sadden by this. The Mothman Prophecies is what got me into 'high weirdness'.

We all know that there are chronic callers-in to Coast to Coast AM that piss us off. And I don't mean JC. They're the real wing-nuts that have to call in at least once a week and make a complete full of themselves on air. Remember a few months ago when that pro-pot chick called in all the time and tried to tie every subject into legalizing marijuana? People like that. I'm beginning to believe that the call screeners actually push them to the front of the line.

The one I hate the most is some decrepit old Gabby Hayes sounding bastard named 'Will'. At least once a week he calls in trying to link every topic into some kind of over arching conspiracy to steal his guns. Most recently he called in during George Knapp's show and claimed that the mustang reserve was part of a conspiracy to disarm America.

what show was it? I think I heard the one you're talking about.

In context, a few nights ago Snoory said that he drank two glasses of ice tea and it gave him a 'heart palpitation' and that he was swearing off ice tea forever. That terrible predator of our youth, ice tea. This, of course, was right after George was saying how he went in for elective medical diagnostics and that the docs told him he was in prime physical condition.

Apparently the missing ingredient in the Captain America super-soldier serum is turmeric.

Jim Marrs is a ton of fun. I don't believe a bit of his theories, but the internal logic of it all is cohesive and he's got a great Texas grandpa voice so it's fun to listen. Seriously: time traveling space Nazis. How can you not eat that up?

Seriously. And they would make George "Intuition" Noory and his legion of faith-based followers do a double take.

These are pro-science and intellectualism shorts created by a British fellow going by the screen name of QualiaSoup. All are erudite, entertaining, and friendly. The animations are pretty clever, too.

Here is the list of videos: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=QualiaSoup&view=videos

Here's a video on open-mindedness that would make Snoory cry:
