I hate to say this, but I think you'd lose should this go to court. Using music like this is one reason shows like WKRP in Cincinnati had problems releasing DVDs. Apparently they had trouble getting the rights to use clips of the music originally used in the broadcast shows.

Why is it that when I take a few days off, I end out having to work harder when I return than I would've if I'd never taken time off in the first place? It's not like I'm the only person working there...

Been the week from hell. Yes, every night's been Adult Beverage Night for the two hours or so of free time I had left.

You know, I greatly miss local, overnight radio programming.  I grew up in the 60s/70s, and listened to great local all-night shows across the eastern half of the country.  KMOX, WCAU, WHO, WBAP, WWL, WLW, CKLW, KDKA, WWVA, WLS.....could pick all those station up and all had unique programming overnight.  Throw in the low power stations close by and you really had a lot to choice from back then.

Oh how I miss Perry Marshall. He was truly one of a kind!

All my point was is I don't want him to do what C2C does, or try to emulate the past ten-fold. He's much better than that. After Greer I don't think this is an unreasonable stance.

Doesn't mean I'm negative on Art himself; he's a pro. When he was running C2C there was a sense of discovery with a lot of his shows/guests, that's what I want from Dark Matter. I don't see how that's negative? Because I meagerly criticized it?

You managed to express my own feelings far more eloquently than I could. Thank you.

I see raccoons and possums in my yard all the time. Once, while sitting in my yard before sunrise, a racoon actually rubbed against my leg and then jumped into my lap. Probably because I feed them. I like the little critters. The same goes with rabbits and squirrels. I'm the critter whisperer.

I live in the city and the only "critter" that tried to jump on me recently was a wacked-out crack ho.

Did somebody mention Lush Rimbaugh, radio's most famous blowhard drug addict?

That man has done nothing but lower the level of political discourse. He's like a Howard Stern version of Senator McCarthy and about as truthful and honest as him too. Bleeeeech.

At this point, all they can do at C2C is turn out the lights once and for all.

Art's back!!!!

What is wrong with you? Who the hell said Art Bell sucks?

I am in no way saying Art sucks. It's great hearing him again! Heck, I even enjoyed his C-Crane ads.

Just hoping for better guests, that's all.

So Art announced this show on Agust 1st???

And immediately said the first two weeks of guests would be older guests to help him ease into the show and help new listeners understand what he does.

So with that being said, wait another week and he will have new guests.

How many fng times does this need to be said?

My apologies for disagreeing with the hive mind. Continue enjoying the Kool-Ade.

Kaku and Hoagland are great guests

Well, one out of two ain't bad. Do you have an Accutron like Hoaxland?

Well folks will disagree, but I'd like some base-level of credibility and not a raving lunatic. Maybe I'm the odd man out, but I rarely find lunatics entertaining, regardless who their enabler is. At least John Hogue has read Nostradamus even if he mis-quotes him.

I am holding out hope next week will have a better line-up.

As much as I loathe the rest of this week's line-up, Michio is great and the first Dark Matter could well be considered a classic!

Sardoni totally nailed it. Greer was so bad I turned it off and listed to Monday's show with Michio Kaku. Now that's some great radio! It's great having Art back, but he really needs to step up his game with regards to the guests. I'll be tuning out Hoaxland and his Accutron too.

Greer wouldn't be that bad if he wasn't so monotone.

He's horrid. Art needs to step it up and do better.

Not thrilled with this whack-job guest. Flipped over to the one I missed on Monday night. Much better than the cast of usual charlatans and fakes. Sorry Art. Michio is awesome but you should give the rest of these guys you've got scheduled for this week their walking papers once and for all.

On recording it, if you still have a VCR with A/V in jacks on the front or back and have a stereo out cable to plug into you headphone or audio Out you can record the full 4 hours on VHS tape. The fun is finding the splitter cord that has RCA ends on the end you plug into your VCR. I think you might be able to find them at Walmart, just ask for a cable to plug into a portable DVD player so you can hook it up to a TV. Or if you are lucky enough to still have a Radio Shack near by check that out. You might have to ask one of the older guys working there as the young guys just want to sell you smartphones and radio controlled gadgets!
This is how Art told us how to do it in the old days of when C2C was good!

You can get these cables at Best Buy too.

Hello Earth Pod, welcome to Bell Gab.

I don't think Noory cares enough to fix anything and it's far too late for that anyway. The man has no shame whatsoever as long as they keep paying him. I've got to admit, it's fun watching him lose it as he realizes the writing's on the wall for his little racket and C2C. I certainly won't be shedding any tears as he goes into long overdue retirement.

...the idea of more shows featuring Dames, Hoagland, Streiber, etc are, umm, unappealing, to say the least.  I really hope Art Bell hears and understands this.

This time a million. Unless Art's going to have these charlatans on one time to hold their feet to the fire and call them out, I'm not at all interested in hearing these shows. Granted, Dark Matter is not going to please every one all the time, but criminey, "Killshot" Dames and Hoaxland? What in heck is Art thinking here?!!

This is probably my favorite mini series of all time. It's completely faithful to the book and, which as you say is unrelentingly depressive. Long time Alec Guiness fan here, also Ian Bannon and Ian Richardson. They were at their peak, superb. There is something careworn and yet incredibly sharp, carefully unweaving the threads of the mole while, at the same time, facing the contempt his wife's infidelity causes him to live with. "Love to Ann" so casual, so meaningful. I never bothered with the recent movie. I don't think it can compare.
<snip>

I'm a huge fan of Tinker, Tailor and Smiley's People. I remember watching them when first broadcast on PBS and I try to watch them at least once a year. I totally understand your thoughts on the recent remake and I wasn't sure I'd like it. I was very pleasantly surprised at how good it was. While not the original (who can compare to Alec Guinness?) it was very well done and stands up fine in its own right.

Or maybe the Blues Brothers or not

I just saw '42' about Jackie Robinson. One of the best newer films I've seen in a long time. Harrison Ford was magnificent as Branch Rickey.

If it wasn't the first show, I'd probably skip Kaku.  I've never been a huge fan of his.  The first few shows he did with Art were interesting, but I'd rather he be on a few weeks down the road.  That being said, I'll go ahead and listen anyway, because it's going to be a huge night, no matter who the guest is. I'm looking forward to Hoagland in a weird way.  I'm hoping for the same vibe he and Art had in the mid-'90s.  I'm sure I'm hoping for too much, but we'll see.  ???

Ok you're right. If Art states that what Hoagland sees on Mars looks more like a cat turd, I'm there.

You crate some utterly amazing and very beautiful art which has every appearance of standing the test of time.

I'm a frustrated painter....abstract landscapes and nudes mostly. While I got lots of interest from galleries, their stock like was that my style was far to unique for them to take a risk on it.

P.S. PM me a pic and I'll paint you in acrylic on canvas and send it back to you, gratis.

Just to be sure, this is the "no credit card required" deal?

Yes, please confirm. I've got to admit, I'm  little iffy trusting them with my sole-remaining credit card.

I hate to say this, but I'll probably skip Hoagland. The man's an utter and complete charlatan and unless Art's prepared to grill him on his many pseudo-science "findings" it won't be worth the price of admission.
