there are so many breaks and commercials.

That's my only complaint.

His show is on for 5 hours. Once all the commercials and breaks are taken out for Soundcloud it ends up being only 3 hours.

I went straight from reading the announcement to Paypal to cancel the sub. I've been a subscriber to both shows since the beginning because I thought it was pretty cool what they were trying to accomplish. I would've spent that $10 dollars a month on a lunch anyways so no biggie. I cancelled RCH's show when it was obvious he had no interest in earning that $5. Now Art's show. I'm going to give Heather a chance and check out the show for a week. After that I may kick in for a few months to help out. The cost to resub is $4.99/m so I'd be saving one cent due to my actions. Yeah!

This is the best thing that could've happened to RCH. His show was failing badly and now the show ending technically is not his fault.

Wrong. Heather was starting her own podcast. I, and a couple of gabbers got her this equipment. I took her to Pahrump to interview Art which was going to be her first podcast episode but we decided to play it as a gabcast special. Later, of his own design, Art hired her.

hey hey hey no one asked for the facts pal!!!!

Thank god Heather had a studio ready to go at her place.

Ha! more proof for my theory. They set her up from the very beginning to be a co host and eventual replacement.

So just thought tonight that this was the plan all along. When he first started the show Art had Heather on as a co host. Probably thinking she would do a bunch of shows with him then start doing them on her own sharing the weeks duties. Of course everyone lost their shit. No one wanted a co-host. Art goes on his own all the while figuring out a way he was going to be able to cut back on shows, semi retirement. Here we are now with the stalker forcing Art out and Heather is there ready to step in. Hmmmmmmmm

Well that sucks. I almost made a post the other night about how this stalker is Art's new "My back is killing me" excuse to skip shows. I didn't want to be "that" guy lol. At least it happened a week before another $5.00 went through.

"Tonight’s round table discussion brings back familiar voices as they analyze more about the Moon, Mars, and Beyond. Guests include Keith Laney, Robert Harrison, Andrew Currie, Will Farrar and Allan Sturm. Join us as we delve deeper into the ancient civilizations within our solar system."

Damn. Looks like I lost the lottery.

Ugh...so glad I unsubscribed.

I listened to the first hour or so but couldn't take it. That guy is so full of shit. I don't mind suspending disbelief for the sake of a good story but come on. His whole set up, the childhood stories,  ruined any interest I had in hearing the rest.

Thanks for the link. I read through most of the thread and still don't really know what happened. From what I can gather RCH fired his producer and then his show went down the tubes......not sure what it has to do with Art and why people would email him. As I said, I just saw Art's tweet of that quote today so I thought it was new.

I think because people thought of RCH as Art's friend. When someone is fucking up you may mention to his friend "Hey see about your boy". Art had to clear the air about the relationship. Another issue with RCH, if you didn't see it,  was his little rant a few nights back. Next level BS that pretty much evaporated what little remaining support he had here.

Nowadays I am rarely up to listen to a whole show but I couldn't sleep last night. It was nice listening to all 3 hours. A flash back to the late 90s when I first started listening. Hearing Crystal Gayle and Art signing off, I was like Fuuuuuuuuck yeeeaaahhh.

I thought from the beginning 5days/week is too much for Hoagie since he wants to do his research too.
Maybe a weekend one night a week show would be better for him?

Decent idea. Of course it would end up being about Mars and 4 mile high flying pyramids but whatever. That's his gig. As someone else mentioned that is a prime radio spot that is squandered on RCH. He had his chance and let it slip. Time to move on to someone else.

wow..brutal...he is continuing the discussion from fridays show

Brutal is the perfect description. There is nothing else to talk about. I listened to the show. More pictures of dirt mounds? "LOOK...AT...ALL THE...GEOMETRY!!!!"

I couldn't sleep last night so I listened to the whole thing. I find the Mars anomalies interesting but those guys were nuts last night, RCH included of course. I was looking at the pics with them and I didn't see shit. It all looked like a big mountain or pile of sand. And GTFO with the "geometry" crap.  I'm willing to go out on a limb and let my mind wander with it a bit but they go too far.

I was willing to let RCH do his thing and maybe do a restart after his stumble a few weeks back but you guys were right. It's damaged beyond repair. The show will never be the same. Listening last night reminded me of when I finally realized Dave was a complete fuck up. I couldn't stand to listen because all his quirks irritated the fuck out of me. RCH is rude af to guests and is insanely obsessed with the audio. I can't listen without telling him to STFU.

Couldn't help but think of how Tyson was describing RCH's entire career as a "scientist"

Do you remember when that show was?

No not off the top of my head. You could easily Google when the pics were released and look at the shows around that time. Be good to know if that's what really happened or if it's my memory telling me it did.

My favorite quote from the incident last night was Art saying "I'm well armed here" or something like that. Brought a smile to my face.

It wouldn't be the first time Art's kicked Richard to the curb.  He didn't talk to him nor mention his name for many years during his last few years on C to C.  Art thought he was completely crazy.  It was sad to see the friendship end at that time.  I think Art thought he was just way too crazy at the time.  guess he eventually changed his mind over the years.

I remember the show when it happened. It was right after they published good pictures of the "face" on Mars. Art had him on to talk about it and Hoagie was going off the rails. It was kind of sad because Dick was frantic trying to plead his case that he was in fact right all along-it was half a lions face-NASA was playing dirty tricks. Art wasn't having any of it. Poor Richard knew he was losing his one great supporter and you could hear it in his voice.

I just checked my Paypal and Hoagie got me for another month. Payment went in today. So he's got another 29 days to get his shit together. Well actually he's got a week cause if this week is like the last I'm done and I'm not just saying that to be one of the cool kids. I don't mind Hoagland being Hoagland but when there are serious problems and you continue plow forward w/o addressing them and in his case making it worse (why the fuck is his producer getting air time?) I can't continue to support that.

I finished the episode. Pretty interesting stuff. I went ahead and got both books off Amazon. As someone else already mention this interview was a little rough but it wasn't all RCHs fault. Churchward is a tough interview. Maybe because it's 3AM in Florida or maybe that's just how he talks. Hoagland was doing his usual. He can't help but tell people how they should be doing their research or show how they are failing lol.

I thought it was funny when Hoagie talking about Churchwards family disowning his research said "Wouldn't it be funny if your great grand father was proven correct and there was million and millions to be had?!?" Churchward says "Yeah but that would be me so..."

I listened to the first 30 minutes or so before falling asleep. I thought it was decent once RCH came back from crazy town and started the interview. My first impression was that the guest was not used to being interviewed but Hoagie was coaxing answers from him like a good interviewer should. I was planning on listening to the rest today but from the comments here I'm gonna be disappointed :(

Dick never had a good reputation on this forum.  When Dave threw him under the bus and Art picked him up a lot of us decided to give him a chance.  When he is able to keep himself in control he is a good interviewer.  He has a lot of charm and knowledge on numerous subjects.  This week he has kind of reverted to his normal state of name dropping and dominating conversations.  This forum is full of the torch and pitchfork types.  I haven't turned on Richard as I am neither for nor against him.  Kind of the charming but crazy uncle everyone sees at various holiday get togethers.

Honest question since everyone is so so damn worked up. Would you take a job with no pay? Rossy you may be a master producer but if you did that is absolutly the dumbest move i have heard of since my first divorce. Fuck sake man. Dumb dumb dumbass move.

I don't know about the behind the scenes discussions but I don't think it's that odd or dumb to take a gig w/o pay just to help out. A lot of people do stuff for free to help others out especially in the beginning. There were a number of peeps here on Bellgab offering services to get this whole operation up and running. Now once everything is running smoothly I would expect discussions about pay would come up and that's where peoples true colors show and the problems tend to show up.

Did you smoke pot with him? Rick Steves is actually a huge legalization advocate and freely admits to smoking it.

lol no, no weed. Just wine and conversation.

I have a cool Rick Steves story: I bought his travel guide for Europe when I did my backpacking trip back in 96. While I was in Switzerland I stayed at this little far out hostel he recommended in his book. Cool little place. Lo and behold the second night a few of us were sitting around eating dinner and in strolls the man himself. We invited him to sit with us and we chilled out talking, sipping some wine. Very cool and laid back dude.
