Is anyone else watching and appreciating this series? Gee, who woulda thought that by episode three we would be identifying with, and starting to root for, the hosts more than the guests?

Not that it is any surprise that nothing can out-creepy humans themselves. As Ripley once observed about much less savory creatures, "At least, they dont't fuck each other over for a percentage."

Anyway, all halfway reasonable observations are welcome.

How To Use BellGab / Where does this stat come from?
September 27, 2016, 02:30:51 PM
Total Time Spent Online. We each have a number for that, but how does the software calculate this?

The reason I ask is that, in my case, it is grossly exaggerated. There is no way in hell I personally have spent over 42 days on this site (the real amount of time would be bad enough). Sure, I may be logged in with an open window in the background for hours and hours, but this stat seems to imply that one is actually reading, posting or somehow paying attention to the site.

Also, what would be the point of measuring whatever this stat is measuring if not to pump up the numbers for ad revenue purposes?

After reading a current Politico article (http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/05/2016-donald-trump-media-journalism-interview-tv-213922#ixzz49tcoAUAl) on how Trump has managed to stymie the press, particularly the following passage...

"In dismissing logic and consistency for pure emotion, Trump has created a powerful reality-distortion field in both politics and journalism. The field doesn’t actually permit Trump to “get away with” lying in interviews: If you query his supporters, most will concede their man’s many fibs. In their minds, though, the “truth” matters less than what’s in Trump’s heart. It’s not that truth and fact don’t matter to themâ€"it’s that truth and facts don’t matter enough to affect whether you want to vote for him. In an environment in which political success is almost totally detached from information, the “truth-finding” interview is becoming one of the first casualties."

...the question I raise in the thread subject line once again came to mind. In spite of Trump's obvious disregard for answering any question straightforwardly and consistently (usually pretty good indicators of honesty), Trump supporters are willing to cut him an amazing amount of slack. Clearly, they believe they can trust something he says and have some kind of expectations of what he would do as president. Also, I take it that they would be disappointed and might feel betrayed if he didn't meet those expectations to some degree.

So, for all the thinking Trump supporters out there, as opposed to the cult members, tell me where the line is. Start by filling in this blank:

"I support Trump and believe in him, but if he doesn't _______________as president, as he said he would, then screw him. He's just another lying politician who lied to get my vote."

Let's try and keep specific responses on this thread, just to avoid having go back and forth to the main Trump thread to follow the responses.

Trying to explain anything to you is like trying to explain to Trump himself. You're both unreachable. The only solution is just to keep Trump and his followers out of the White House -- and that will happen. Feel free to protest, or even riot, as your leader suggests. Let's see if he leaves the limo to join you.
