***SSHHHHHH ... Top Secret Info Here***

I'm planning a 100th episode of my "Exposing PseudoAstronomy" podcast that is going to be as close to a C2C show as I can make it (classic Art Bell style, if I can, but George Noory -style Open Lines).  This means bumper music, me reading the news at the beginning, having a guest or two, commercials, and, of course, Open Lines.

Right now, I'm looking for people who are at least somewhat familiar with astronomy, physics, or geology, OR can make something up related to any of those topics, preferrably something vaguely related to something I've talked about before.  Basically, I'd want to record a short conversation with you, possibly you start out gushing about how wonderful the show is, and then you relate your bit of weird story or "theory."  Meanwhile, I give "uh huh," and "exactly!" platitudes for up to 5 minutes and then cut you off just before you finish (or maybe let you go the whole time).

I think if done RIGHT, this could be a really good, really funny, and not campy or offensive episode that both pays homage to talk radio, to what Art created, but at the same time does mock some of the crä-crä.

The episode is currently slated for February 1, 2014.  It might slip a bit.  It almost certainly won't move up.  That said, this is going to take A LOT of planning, and so I'm trying to get stuff lined up now.  If you're interested, please let me know here, in PM, or e-mail (podcast at sjrdesign dot net).

After the latest absolutely disgusting Wells episode last Friday, including guests claiming that no one died at Sandy Hook and that the government will eventually charge you to reproduce because they'll own your genes, it struck me:  Perhaps we should start a blog - with several contributing authors - that attempts to objectively point out factual errors and fear-mongering on a per-show basis.

My idea is that there'd be one blog, and whoever listens first would start a post for that day if there was something that stood out to them as particularly insane.  Anyone else who's a contributor can go in and edit to add to it.  Doesn't have to be long, doesn't have to be short.  What would be best would be if something is factually wrong if they could provide a resource to show how it's wrong.  Or explain it logically.

Kinda similar to what I or Expat already do on our blogs, but it can be much shorter if you wanted.

The point is to provide a resource to people who search for the guest or topic that was discussed in as objective a manner as possible -- get your frustrations out here as you always do, but we want people to take us seriously on the blog.

Anyone interested?  If you are, please post here, and if you happen to be somewhat of an "expert" (professional or lengthy hobby), put that down, too.  If there's more than me and, say, one or two other people interested, let's go for it.

For example:  Me!  Astronomy, physics, geology, some medicine, and general knowledge of most topics discussed other than politics.

(Disclaimer:  I am not a medical professional. I do not know if these people have these types of mental diseases or defects.  I am basing this off the DSM-IV criteria and the statements made on the Coast to Coast AM radio program by persons purporting to have the names given below.  This is for entertainment purposes only.)

We'll see if this thread catches on.  I'll start.

Steve Quayle:  Paranoid schizotypal disorder, evidenced by wild conspiracies of everyone out to get him and cover up an insane truth that only makes sense to him.

Richard Hoagland:  Narcissistic personality disorder, evidenced by the need to take over the radio program whenever he's on, answer his own questions, quiz the interviewer, thinks he deserves special treatment for his "science" or at conferences, and takes peoples' money for his work without giving it back because it's still funding his "important" stuff.  Also perhaps Schizotypal with delusions of grandeur.

I've been listening to the Feb. 5, 2013, broadcast with "Doctor" Robert O. Young, "M.S., D.Sc., Ph.D."  It is honestly distressing that people like him get any airtime, let alone airtime with someone as unchallenging and credulous as Noory.  Blood makes skin?  Blood is an organ?  The stomach doesn't secrete acid?  Eat 12-14 grams of salt per day?  What's even worse is that I know people out there will listen to this guy and believe it.

Fortunately, a quick Google search turns up a few pieces exposing this particular duck noise:  "A Critical Look at "Dr." Robert Young's  Theories and Credentials" @ Quackwatch and "Naturopathic technique stirring bad blood" @ Confessions of a Quackbuster.  This on top of his response to lawsuits by claiming he never said he was a doctor.  Hard to do that when you bill yourself as having three degrees, two of them being doctoral degrees.

Hi Guys, Gals, and Others!

It was recommended that I post a thread for my podcast, "Exposing PseudoAstronomy," a podcast about various pseudoscientific topics that deal with the general topic of astronomy (and some geology and some physics).  Most of the topics have been discussed on Coast to Coast AM in the past (and will likely be in the future), and I get a lot of my source material and ideas for topics from C2C.  Hence why I'm putting it up here, on this forum.

Probably the easiest way to browse previous topics is through the episode tree.

I will post to this thread whenever a new episode is out.  With all that in mind, let me know what you think of the podcast, specific episodes, and any questions or requests!

It's not a hugely common topic on C2C, but I found over 30 hrs of it in my ~20-year archive of episodes (211.3 GB at last count!).  It's such a monumental topic (ha!) that I'm splitting it into two podcast episodes.

Episode 59, The Face on Mars, Part 1 was released last night.  With 8 C2C clips, most of them Hoagland.  Part 2 due out next Tuesday and will cover more of the conspiratorial mindset and other alleged faces (remember those guys from the Cydonia Institute, or the guy who said Mars was Murdered?).

If you have any feedback, let me know!

Alright folks, we're at about T minus 11 hours and counting until the winter solstice in England.  Over the past thirty-some-odd years, we've seen so many different claims, from the astronomical to the geological to the metaphysical to the certifiable.

I'd like to know what these people who said that something was definitely going to happen on this date are saying now (or, in about 11 hours).  I'd like to do a podcast on it early next year, probably February.

So, if you see or hear anyone back-pedling, please post it here!  I would prefer if it were astronomy/geology-related ... while I'd love to hear what old Wildick says when we can't levitate and instantly heal (something he claimed would happen right after the solstice this year), that's not exactly pole-flip nor Planet X-related.

Thanks in advance!

I finally did a podcast on what I call "lunatic earthquakes" - whether the moon causes (or triggers) quakes.  It's just over 50 minutes, I discuss a lot of background, a lot of logical fallacies, a few of Berkland's predictions, some of Nabhan's claims, and then give a discussion of statistics.
I also just finished posting a 5-page statistical discussion of the data.

So if you've ever wondered if there's anything to Berkland's claims, come take a look/listen!

I'm being interviewed in 12 hours for the Point of Inquiry podcast and one of the questions I'll be asked is after all this 2012 stuff is over with, what's the next one.  Any ideas?

A year ago tonight, on November 10, 2010, George "interviewed" Mike Bara, author of "The Choice" and Hoagland's co-author on "Dark Mission."  There was a caller into the program that night who challenged Bara on one of the minor claims he made, and George cut him off, and he and Bara proceeded to talk about how Bara has "haters" out there.

I tracked down that caller and interviewed him for an episode of my podcast and I had him react to his call and George's and Bara's reactions with a year hindsight.  We talk about Bara's claims of science and early NASA history, a bit about Hoagland, and some about George's interview techniques and policy for callers and guests.  Here's the link to my podcast episode (this is to the shownotes, there's a direct link to the MP3 from that page).

Let me know what you folks think, if you give it a listen.  The episode is 42.5 minutes long, the interview being all but about 1 minute on the beginning and 2 on the end.
